Secondly a small query, took delivery of my 390 just a days back, and just inspecting the suspension I feel it's very hard to press on the front forks, but sets in well when riding, is it how's it's supposed to be or is something off tangent here. To an extent they are really hard I have to pull back on the bars to get them back to position after I compress, they don't just like that give good rebound. Unfortunately I've never cared to test this on the Duke 200/390s I've ridden -- carried away by the oomph, at that time, sigh!

        Thoughts appreciated

        Thanks!

Let the suspension bed in. As you said urs is new bike.

It will be hard in initial days but will soften a bit.

The condition of my bike's rear tire after completing 11.5k on the odo. Most probably the next buy would be the Michelins. The sad part is the chicken strips due to extensive highway running. What a waste of rubber

That condition just after 11.5k? Sticky rubber I guess, how much a new set of Metz costs?

You need to change before monsoon and wet roads. The tire in this condition seems very risky.

Around 17.5k in pune with fitting.

                True that buddy.

@All - After changing the front sprocket, is the chain slapping still there?

By the time the run in is over, the front forks will loosen up.

All - I noticed the infamous bike switching OFF while riding issue a couple of days back. The bike was switching OFF without any change from the rider - no clutch pull etc. I faces the issue some 2-3 times while commuting daily. The display showed the engine malfunction LED when the engine switched OFF and other than that, no visible indications. The display did not switch OFF, neither did the clock reset.

I remembered the tons of posts here and the solution was very simple - the battery clamp screw was a bit loose for both the terminals. I guess the vibes over the last year caused it. I tightened the screws myself and issue resolved.

                    guys at bangalore,

Wanted to know how the service station at the hosur road (near the electronic city) is? Has anyone any service experience with them? Its on the way to my work place, so was considering giving it a thought. SO far, all the services/ issues have been done at Autoservice, Banashankri, but thats way off my regular route. (also, i did not find them any great, as they give good attention to only the sbks.)

Btw, going for front sprocket replacement tomorrow, also have to get a few vibrating parts fixed ODO is at 4.6k kms, still getting a smile inside my helmet everytime it revs above 7k rpm
Where do you plan to get the sprocket replacement done? do let me know as even i am planning for a replacement tomorrow. Will need to to call them and check for spares, and time availability.

One more issue: the dreaded stalling of the bike when the clutch is fully pulled in, IS BACK. and no, this one is not related to loose battery terminals. I had this issue earlier, but all was good for the last 3-4 months. No stalling at all. now last 3 days, its back to trouble me. Wonder if its related to the recent rains inwhich i have been riding almost everynight. Cant be bad fuel, as i have been using shell super from the same bunk. Has anyone able to crack this issue?

Got the front sprocket replaced today, as you all know, it is just a design change. But surprisingly, bike feels a lot better to ride, esp at low rpms. This must be because chain was cleaned thoroughly and adjusted as well.

Also one of the belly pan bolts were missing which was causing tarr tarr sound and the crash guard bolt was cut (Not sure how it happened though, must be caused by someone else in parking lot).

Front disc was cleaned with disc cleaner as well.

Bill was 200/- for chain service + missing bolts.

I guess you can compare the tires on Duke 200 with that of R15. It fits the D390 as well and can do 80% what Metz can do.
Metzeler sportec M5 is one of the best tires (comparing soft compounds) and is factory fitted in many liter bikes. And in many litre bikes it lasts even lesser .

Other options with a bit of compromises (in width/height of the tire) are Michelin and Ceat Vertigo sport(for off-roads) . So you see now its your choice...

Yes it is, Infact SVC told he had left the chain a bit loose to let the sprocket bed in properly specially since the chain and the rear sprocket are still the same.

Not sure how far this is true...

I too have been facing this buzzing at lower rpms, but, have yet to visit the svc. I think all the vibrations add-on in loosening of bolts over time and results in the buzzing sound.
