Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Even I face this issue only once in mornibg . Probably it happens as engine is cold (just wild guess) and I smell petrol fumes too (mild though)Originally posted by Balgi View Post

Hi BalgiOriginally posted by Balgi View PostI read in your earlier post that you get slight white smoke on early morning starts. Is that right? If so does it happen everyday on first star or every now and then?
White smoke on hard acceleration. Noticing it only after my 1st service. SVC guys attributed it to K&N filter. So getting it back to stock soon. Got emission test done again on someone's advice. CO reading 0.01 and HC 3.6. It is well within the limits. And also changed the petrol bunk. Will now observe for white smoke before uninstalling k&n. Also a fellow dukist told me that slight white smoke after changing oil is normal. I will wait.

Premium was 4k+ and zero dep was another 1k, but this is for new bike. Depending on the declared value of your bike (since its a year old) the amount will change.Originally posted by nelson_sanjoy View PostIf you don't mind sharing can you please put the insurance amount you paid to ICICI else if you can PM me.
I will log in to policy bazaar once and compare ...

Bikes running rich. And there is an unburnt fuel return system in the form of a thin chrome pipe over the bore head cover. The o-ring on it could be faulty.
How many kms on the odo?

Air filter isn't at fault. The k&n filter lets fine dust into the intake. That I believe have messed with the piston rings or the valve clearance (hope its the latter). Bike can still perform in this case but engine life is reduced and an overhaul may become necessary earlier than normal. But hope I am wrong.
The fueling doesn't cause this unless you use non recommended additives or adulterated fuel. And emission will be normal but white smoke is seen as oil burns in the combustion chamber.
I would suggest nulon liquid but this is a forced lubrication engine and nulon could effect the oil pump. Best consult the svc about this.Last edited by Balgi; 11-05-2014, 04:56 PM.

Well most of the times it is that. The only other thing could be piston rings but engine overhaul at 3.3k kms seems a stretch. Mine has done 6.4k kms and not even an extra sound and I ride hard, I don't baby the bike.

I do baby my bike. I previously owned d200 for almost two year and handle them very well.Originally posted by Balgi View PostWell most of the times it is that. D390 has been giving me hassles- day one riding 5 km gave me low oil pressure issue. Head had to be replaced and it took a week!
I do hear faint vibration noise from engine bay which resonates at 5k rpm.
Time to go back to service station.

Ah..... You never mentioned you changed the head. In that case your having an oil seal issue somewhere in the head area which is probably due to the head change. Write a complaint to ktm and ask for ktm engineers to look at your bike not the svc. The svc knows nothing, trust me.
