        Hi dukers,

Picked up duke 390 a few days before. Finished with the 1st service. Got K&N filter installed at 450kms. After 1st service the svc guys told me to remove the K&N and replace it with stock. Also I have noticed light white smoke on hard acceleration. When I pointed it out they said it might be due to the k&n. Also they told that installing k&n voids engine warranty. Help me out bros coz I don't know head and tail of high performance sports bikes.

Note: It's a pre worshipped bike. Picked it up with 300kms on odo, 2months old. Skipped the 1st service as time had elapsed. Used up the 2nd free service. Now its 630kms on odo and am planning to take my bike on a 500km ride on Thursday morning. Serviced at KTM Banashankari.

It should be around 4.5K for zero dep.

Its better not to modify any parts as in case of problems, the svc could deny you warranty claims. Also, the stock filters are good enough, so you need not change it with K&N, specifically if its made for better air flow than stock.
Also, if you don't mind could you share the amount for which you bought the bike?

If you are really keen on using the K&N, ensure it is a stock replacement filter and also buy a cleaning kit as it will require cleaning more frequently due to the increased airflow . A clogged filter will cause more harm than good.

              Hi

Thanks for the reply. I picked it up for 1.7lakhs. My friends are now offering me upto 1.85 for the same. But shez a keeper. She was parked in a covered space alongside an Yamaha R1 and an Audi Q5, all belonging to the same person. I was fortunate enough to land the deal.

I will replace it with stock filter tomorrow itself and observe for changes. Thanks for the reply bro.

yes sir, go back a few pages and we have discussed about it and a few other improvements on the newer d200 & d390's.
it's the new radiator fan design.. which blows most of the hot air downwards. And it does create some 'music' while doing so.(like hearing an jet from a distance with its engine idling) . Just earlier this evening two females on a activa almost jumped off their scooter when the fan came on during a traffic jam ! I am going to enjoy this contraption

Don't screw it up with a k&n. the 390 is a beast for its size/specs.. do enjoy it in its purest form!
Also ensure you have the warranty intact (even though you are a second owner, you are still eligible for the standard warranty).

I read in your earlier post that you get slight white smoke on early morning starts. Is that right? If so does it happen everyday on first star or every now and then?

Did anyone from Bangalore get a zero-dep insurance from any of the Showrooms? Which showroom and which one - Bajaj, Iffco , Icici or Oriental?

I have to renew mine and hence the question.

You dont have to contact showroom for insurance renewal, you can do it yourself online in a few mins, that's all

Icici and New India Assurance used to provide zero dep insurance and looks like Reliance general also offers it these days (as mentioned in above post). But icici premium is much more than New India, but some say filing insurance and survey takes longer in these govt based companies. But it shouldnt be much of a problem I guess. I have Icici zero dep btw.

You can go to policy bazaar and see the info from all these companies.
