Hi guys update regarding speedo change now things went from bad to worse after they changed the speedo and gear indicator, the gear indicator worked fine but the speedo has gone
completely crazy , show all wrong reading if my bike is 10 km h, the speedo shows 100km. Now even abs has stopped working, Hmm before only the multi info part was dead now after replacing speedo, completely dead checked with old speedo same issue they changed the wheel sensor same issue, they suspect it to be ECU.

Hmm another thing I was lucky to notice it now I asked them to adjust the chain as it was loose , the axle bolt was loose even though you tight when they checked it had double thread and was not getting tight they replaced it under warranty and are sending it to Pune . Hardly two months old bike and so much issue , I have lost faith in this bike don't know whats going to fall apart next.

I am waiting for them to find out what issue is guys what should I do, if I had not checked the chain slackness and while in some high-speed run if the axle nut had fallen down then I would be in trouble Hmm I feel my pulsar 220 was better in terms of quality 5 years of use still running good, guys should I send a mail to KTM .

B7ACKTHORN, correct. 29kpl(82.3 mpg UK) is what we get for mixed riding most in city.well, using 'mileage' android app for tankful method.I fill up when it starts showing low fuel.about 7.8 litres go in.
highway majority sees this up easily to 33-34 kpl at 90kph.

nasirkaka, agreed.in my extreme case I got engine replacement and now getting speed sensor replacement before second service.

However value for money the 390 maybe, 2+Lakh OTR is still a big amount for a majority of us. At that price point, we do expect the bike to perform without any major initial niggles. Issues are inevitable with machine with moving parts, but it would be more acceptable if they start showing after say about 20K kms. It hurts when a newish bike are decorating the garages.

My 390 is been lying opened up at autoservice. USD fork busted for the 3rd time in-spite of replacing the down-tube + seal at the 2nd leak. Now same fork busting thrice within 7k kms of running on decent city roads is something that hurts. Two service station have told me that its almost always the front right side fork that goes for a toss. But neither could give a satisfying reason for the same. If that is really the case, bajaj/ ktm should try and address the issue.
also, decent amount of Oil is leaking from head gasket area, and the gasket needs to be replaced, but the part is not available, it seems. There is leak from oil filter area as well. Also Front left indicator is stopped working.

Not sure when the bike will come home. Hoping its soon. Thankfully i have a 2nd bike to survive.

Here is how the new KTM 1190 Adventure's Bosch MSC system. This is the first bike with such a system. Can't be anymore proud, only if we could use this in the Duke 390 it'd be even more fun. Secondly this can be retrofitted to the older Adventure series, at least that's what is implied from the company.

Bosch MSC – Anti-Lowside Technology

Bosch MSC – Anti-Lowside Technology

Bosch MSC Anti Lowside Technology bosch msc 635x423
Rider aids like traction control and ABS continue to prove the notion that electronics are the new horsepower, and with the US debut of the KTM 1190 Adventure R just a couple months away, we learn that the hot new adventure-touring machine will debut the new Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system.
An extension of the venerable Bosch 9+ME ABS package, whose dual-channel setup has become the benchmark for OEM-equipped ABS units, the Bosch MSC is the next iteration of that standard. Integrating the ability for riders to brake into corners with a reduced risk of low-sliding, the Bosch MSC system is the next evolution in braking with its anti-lowside technology.
Working with KTM to bring MSC to the KTM 1190 Adventure R, Bosch says that the unit has multiple advantages over traditional ABS pieces:
• MSC can prevent the wheels from slipping when braking while leaned over.
• MSC minimises the righting motion of braking while leaned over.
• MSC prevents rolling over in emergency stops.
• MSC prevents rear wheel skids when accelerating while leaned over.
• MSC prevents the front wheel rising while accelerating.
While KTM is the first company out of the gate with the Bosch MSC system, it is only logical that other companies will be equipping their machines with the technology. And since we know where the minds of current KTM 1190 Adventure owners are going; yes, the Bosch MSC equipment can be retrofitted to current machines.

Excellent stuff from KTM.

Cheers!

Guys facing a weird problem for tha last two days.My bike is switching off while riding around 50kmph in 4th or 5th gear and also at low speeds randomly.Have to pull the clutch and giving acceleration starts the bike while riding. When idling the rpm fluctuates between 500-2000 rpm. This is very weird and dangerous while overtaking. Any idea about this issue or anyone facing this issue???? And also how to solve????

Do visit the ASC and get it checked thoroughly. It could be as simple as a clogged air filter or something as mentioned above.

I bought a R15 couple of weeks ago over a DUke 390 because I did not have the money to go in for a DUke 390.
But after riding the R15 for a good 700kms, I am very disappointed by its low end torque and acceleration (i have owned a RE Classic 500 earlier). Today, a guy on Honda Shine overtook me while starting from a traffic light. The other day, the bike refused to go over a certain climb on the road.
So I am looking to sell the R15 and get a Duke 390. I still do not have the money but I am willing to beg, borrow and steal!

Do you guys think it is worth it? Am stuck in a big dilemma here.

P.S: Other option would be to wait for R25 but 1. do not know when it is coming 2. the value of R15 would have depreciated quite a lot by then.
Interested in no other bikes.

Hi guys went to SVC today to check the status of my bike still they are investigating the issue, Hmm its weird though even the replaced speedo showing all wrong readings even they changed the ECU and checked still same issue they even checked with a speedo from a working bike still issue remains same .

when they connect my speedo speed reading are correct only the multi info part doesn't work. but when they connect new speedo and check it shows all wrong speedo reading if bike is in 10 km it shows 100 kmh . But when they connect the old speedo . the speed info is correct but only the multi info part doesn't work, the gear indicator issue is fixed.

Hmm don't know when I will get my bike they are waiting for service engineer from KTM to come and check the issue , Though the SVC engineer had tried his best to sort the issue.

Incorrect speedo... Been there, felt that, corrected that!

Get the alternator changed. The current from battery is malfunctioning. Will be replaced free of charge. Used to happen when the headlight was used in my bike.

You need to take it to the track or the twisities to experience the true dynamic nature of the R15. Straight line drags are not it's thing.
Imo, changing your bike just because you got beaten by another bike is not appropriate.

Point taken..
But most of my driving will come in the city where accelerations at low RPMs is important. I do understand that R15 is a high rev bike but achieving those rev ranges in daily traffic is difficult and risky as well.
Am not changing the bike bcz I got beaten by another bike (used to happen with my Classic 500 as well but never changed it). Its just the lack of low RPM torque that disappoints me.
Asked a Duke dealer for an exchange price and he quoted 1L for 1 10 day old bike that has done 600+ km.

You can't expect low end torque like the cl500 on the 390, most of its power build up is past 5500 rpm.
I had a Ninja 250r previously which had a peaky power delivery and just asked for more revvs all the time.
It's just the matter of getting adjusted to the bike and you'll find yourself in tune with the power delivery and start enjoying it.
And opening throttle on the 390 in cities is something you need to do very carefully. I hardly get a chance to open throttle in the cities with the kind of power it packs. You would also not like the taller gearing very much and the bike doesn't favor low rpms at all.
I've clocked close to 14k on the 390 now and I can tell you that you wouldn't be doing justice to the engine, tyre and chassis if you ride it mostly in the cities.
