Sorry bro. It was decided very unexpectedly. Tvm asc. Even my clutch is like that. Didn't get time to ride and analyse. Went for a short ride today. The bike is full of problems. And I see changing the chain and sprocket in the very near future. The bike is crap overall. Even I have the coneset problem. The worst thing is now, the headlight is not working. Probably will have to go to tvm to get that fixed. Legend Racer

head light not working is not a big concern. might a loose connection, just try opening and closing of few relays in front assembly. but clutch and chain set..boy, its time for a change for YOU. no doubt.

ASS guy was surprised hugely to see my brake pads. He asked if i changed both front and rear as they were as like new even now. My reply was, brakes are not to slow down, just to bring the bike to a stop...You know me, why to simply pull off and come to 10km/hr again in our kerala roads? just chopping throttle itself brings so much of deceleration. and engine braking...

BTW, regarding, my compliant of mad rush loss at 5k... i made him open the rear wheel. even with sane riding, there were minor wear and tear to rubber hub. Hence at 20k kms it would require change of chain set, rubber and maybe clutch plates too... Any way I plan to push with this conset until i change front tyre too.
front conset- Rs 500
chain set RS 2500
If you use brake pads then add that too
labour charge- apart from 450 standard, add up 1000 more...

NOW this is where KTM/BAJAJ differs from yamaha or a JAP. I write this statement if the same rider uses both yamaha and ktm.

And please let me know if tightening of front forks help in better steering. I didnt loosen the conset to adjust the fork rings.
I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

I think BAL/KTM is not to be at fault. It's how they "finish" their products, and I think KTM should be a little stern with BAL on how the finished quality as opposed manufactured quality is, two different pieces, but one simple tactic. BAL does make good products, but they lack big time in the way their products are finished. I think their manpower is so under-educated, they don't do a quality work. Work for money as opposed for that feel good factor! But that aside.

Coming to water in speedo, I've seen many 390 users report the same, even abroad users. But most of the time, a little sunshine does the work. And one guy replaced the console for the same reason, and even the new one had the same issue, so I guess it's a design fault in and of itself or a production line defect, can keep the guesswork going on.

Yes tightening and loosening the fork stems can either induce/reduce or neutralize a wobble.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

Actually sunshine makes it worse if there is some water condensed inside the console. Park the bike in a dry shaded area and it should be fine after some time.

Some useful stuff i came across.. remember it might not always be a fork 'bend'.. easier to try these steps first before going in for fork work/replacement.

how many bikes above 1 lakh is like this? Thank God cars are better in this case. Only for starting battery is required...
I think it won't mess up rides as I have seen kids push starting their 200s (May be with a weak but not dead battery). Need to reconfirm from the SVC. As far as I know, bikes with dead batteries that runs with fuel injected engines normally can't be push started, but possible if the alternator generates enough power to prime the pump. It gets more difficult to start with more number of cylinders the engine has. Once the engine gets running, then it will continue to run even with a dead battery. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

My chain is worn very unevenly. Its like super tight at one place and hanging at another place. The sprockets are fine. I just now adjusted the clutch like old times. Have to ride for a few kms to know what's what. Legend Racer

No doubt it's time for a new chain set. Always as a thumb rule ensure to go for new chain and both new sprockets to have a good chain life.

Hello,

I noticed a very strange thing today....The tank my Duke is broken (cracked) from the area where there is coolant window

No hit was taken. The huge crack runs from top of the black part to the corner of the window. Is it a manufacturing defect?

Or the quality of material they put is in so pathetic that it can break on its own? Has anyone faced it or heard of this happening before?

It cant be that bad in quality to break on its own... Did u gave ur bike to anyone for ride? Or someone must have messed it up in parking!

Question to the owners..

How is the engine after running 10K? Does it have the same bite?
I understand the other components of the bike (chain, sprocket and all) giving up but is the engine still good (wrt power and throttle response)?

I would really like to know if I can keep this bike for ages (something like the Bullets) or does it have to go post 10-15K on the ODO primarily due to the engine giving up?

Cheers!
There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

One thing is for sure it cannot last as long as a Bullet but its runs much faster than a bullet . As per my information I got from Kishore(south India Service engineer for KTM) D390 engine life is around 40k to 50k kms after that u need to do the engine work.

I have clocked more than 8k kms on my odo there is no loss in power still now but ya we have to make sure the chain, Tyre pressure etc are correctly maintained.

Even bullets have to get its engine fixed once in a while. All bikes do.
