I'm in the process of finalizing between 250R and D390. My only concern is cost of ownership, can someone give me a ball park figure? I don't want to start another CBR vs Duke discussion. But I want suggestions from a prospective buyer point of view.

I'd be very thankful if any Hyderabad member is willing to help me offline.

P.S: I called the sales manager now, he's giving the same exact OTR price of 2.13L again. While Honda reduced the quotation to 2.04L from 2.13L.

2.13L was price after Price hike on 390. Initially it was 2.06L. Wait for few more days. Price might again come down to 2.06L. Check with Prasanna/Ramesh from KTM begumpet.

Cost of ownership will be more or less same for 390 and 250R except for Tires!

My last service costed by Rs 1650 which includes Oil changes, Coolant Topup, Chain clean and Spray, Body Wash. First service costed Rs 1800 as I went for 300V,

I just called KTM Langford, Bangalore. They were quoting 2.12L, now comes the confusing part, they insist that the OTR was 2.20L prior to the price cut and it is 2.12L now.

What is confusing you? What they said is correct!

EDIT : OTR varies from state to state.

The confusing part is, I got a quote of 2.13L in the first week of Feb, before the price cut was announced. CBR 250r quotation was 2.13L on the very same day.

After the price cut, CBR is 2.04L here, so it should be the same for D390 as well, if the price cut is in effect, right?

Can someone guide me how can I get in touch with Ktm regional sales team?

Bajaj has to announce the Price cut, it doesn't depend on Honda's price. 390's price was increased by 7000 after Jan 2014. Till then the price remains same. So its just matter of time before Bajaj announces the price.

No no, I was just correlating the CBR price. Didn't mean to link the price cut to Honda.

I will visit the showroom in the evening, I'll discuss this in person with the manager and update you guys.

There seems to be too much of confusion here!

Are you buying from Blore oy Hyd? And did you know the price of bikes vary from state to state?

In Blore, 390 costed 2.2L and it came down to 2.12L last week. I have no idea about Hyd or the CBR pricing but you seem to compare prices of different states here!

Ah, I guess I confused you guys.

The price of both CBR & D390, I quoted was from Hyderabad. Both were 2.13L OTR, when I test drove them on Feb 15th.

Yesterday, I did TD of both again, CBR price was dropped to 2.04 L, while D390 is the same, 2.13L.

So about the BIC track day again, My dealer has sent a shady looking mail which says that I need to pay him 500 bucks to "ensure" the registration.

This seems really odd. I asked whether this was legit on the track day facebook page but got no reply.

Has anyone else got this email from their dealers? Have you guys paid the money?

I got a call yesterday from KTM CP. Went there to inquire and was told that this is a security deposit to ensure that participants actually arrive for the track day. Its fully refundable at a later date from the track day event. When I inquired about the registration at BIC, he said that the registration there was free and that the registration on that day was for the classes and track sessions.
Also, I dont know how true this is, but, he said that they are expecting around 40 bikes and for that registration has to be made in advance. I saw the list of registered people and there were around 15 till then. I asked him how KTM is planning to manage riders coming from other states and he said that even they have to register. I told him that may not be feasible for everyone and that most of them will come to Delhi on that day itself.

For all those who want to attend track day, I can PM you his number.

Attaching some pics, named it Pluto.

I think the chain maybe a little loose, I got it tightened recently which reduced the noise.

And do you mean bike idling at 1800-2100rpm? Because I am facing exactly that. Only in cold condition it should be that way once it heats up it should settle at 1500rpm. Will try adjusting the idle screw. But it looks like KTM made it on purpose on the new batch since I too bought the bike recently.

Delhi and Bangalore seems to have got the price cuts of approx 7k. I don't understand why they wouldn't do this as standard across all cities. The shops in Mumbai are acting absolutely clueless on this for some reason.

Also anyone...is it better to pick up the bike from the factory shop or dealer. Thanks

Silly Q -What is the easiest way to detect puncture in these Metzelers other than looking at the entire tire.
They seem to loose air very very slowly - for e.g. I got to know of a rear puncture only in my first service that too accidentally - God knows when it actually happened.

Please check the tire for actual puncture. In case no puncture found, probably issue with Rim, have it checked.
