I mean, the company both recomends and supplies this oil for the dukes. Post first service I only ever got motul 300v fs oil for my bike as standard from svc, though I did have the choice to get motul 7100 fs oil. But svc guys said 300v is the best for my bike so stuck to it.

May I know what could be the issue and I have heard its very common but is there any solution to fix the issue as its very dangerous !
Please advice ...
Well for me, the issue corrected itself. But if I had to guess I'd say it was the idling jet in the throttle body. The bike would be unable to sustain idle on abrupt de-throttling if it was partially blocked by impurities in the fuel.

RHS Rear View mirror is making rattling sound between 4-5K rpm.. Not a major issue.. but wondering if there is some DIY to fix the issue.. don't want to go svc center for this sort of minor issue. If you have never done a mistake in your life, it means you have never tried anything new.

Take the rubber sheath on the mirror stalk off from the top end of the mirror and just where mirror meets the stalk you'll notice a screw, tighten it to tighten the mirror's movement.

KTM recommended oil is 7100 and not 300v.Originally posted by Balgi View PostI mean, the company both recomends and supplies this oil for the dukes. 7100 is standard at all Bombay SVCs too. The 390 Duke manual mandates 7100 as the standard.Originally posted by Balgi View PostMaybe true for where you're from buddy. Here in Hyderabad though its 300v as standard and 7100 as option.Ride more, browse less.

Hmmm.......... Well in that case I'll check with svc though they told me 300v is better for the 390 engine. Anyway thanks for letting me know.

As a lubricant, 300v is superior product, hence expensive compared to 7100.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostImo 300v is better. But they recommend 7100. Dont know why...

One of the reasons for company recommending 7100 could be the perceived image associated with any automobile product regarding "MAINTENANCE" costs.
We all agree that maintenance cost regrading a bike/car does have some role to play in buyers mind while making the final decision. the company avoids recommending very expensive lubricants, as it takes the service (maintenance) cost high.
personally, i have been using 300V for last two service, and i did not find any great difference in smoothness over the 7100.
DOes KTM recommend 300V for the exported 390s??

Ktm doesn't mention any brand in their manual. It only specifies the grade.. and the grade depends on the atmospheric temperature ranges.Originally posted by nasirkaka View Postpersonally, i have been using 300V for last two service, and i did not find any great difference in smoothness over the 7100.

Initially in india it was only the bajaj dtsi oil that was being used.. but due to customer demand they had tied up with motul.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Did a solo ride from bangalore to dharwad. Bike performed flawlessly. Average mileage I got was 37kmpl. Average speed 80-110kmph. Max speed reached- 135kmph. No problems whatsoever. And I should mention, she is an attention magnet.
Still getting used to the new riding position. Right ankle joint is sore from the ride. Started at 6.45am from bangalore, reached dharwad at 2.15pm. Gave 8-10 stops on the way(more to secure the backpack which was tied behind) :banghead: Overall, am extremely happy.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
From that awkward rear brake lever positioning i guess. I am just using the front brake 80% of the time (only been riding within city limits so hardly crosses 75 kmph). And also i noticed that if you keep your feet closer towards the foot rest mount (rather than on the middle part of the footrest where we normally keep our feet), it is easier to use without having to angle your feet to tap the rear brake lever.Originally posted by sharathchandra View PostRight ankle joint is sore from the ride.
I am contemplating welding on an extra bit of metal to the rear brake lever so that it extends out a inch or two, thus enabling easier application of the rear brake.

Even I would like to do something about the rear set footpegs, especially the brake lever. Kindly let me know if u are modding it. I will follow suit. D390 is engineered for the open roads. Try to go for a drive and am sure that she will surprise u with her highway manners.Originally posted by s1d View PostFrom that awkward rear brake lever positioning i guess.
