@sharathchandra the best option I have found for chain cleaning is wd40. No big advantage in paying 500 bucks for the motul one.

KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
WD40 I think is just overrated. Better use a kerosene spray and a used tooth brush to clean. A paddock stand would help massively. Wipe the chain with a dry rug.( with the engine switched off obviously). And then after 5 or so minutes spray the OKS chain lube on the chain from the inside and on the sprocket as well.( front and rear)Originally posted by timuseravan View Post@sharathchandra the best option I have found for chain cleaning is wd40. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
MRF's are good but when it comes to speed rating they fail on the D390. I really want an exhaustive review on the Michelins. Sorry, Im not on Facebook either to view them.Originally posted by s1d View PostIIRC the michelin's come in one size smaller i.e140 instead of 150 (for the rear). why not go with the mrf's that come on the d200? But i noticed that these mrf's aren't good in the wet from my recent ride in the rains on my d200. But again it might be because my tires are only 550km old and might need a few more kms of run in.

Motul chain lube is good but when using it I find the front sprocket makes noise cause of the stickiness. I use kerosene to clean the chain and wd 40 to clean the lube that gets flung onto the rear alloy.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
this one is for the owners who have replaced the rear Tyre with NOT a metz one.
Please educate me on what should i go for since i really cant afford a Metz now because of its cost.
Lot of people have fitted with Michelin- i see the spec says 140/70-17, but shops in bangalore have 2 models one that one- Pilot Sport and Pilot Street. Which one we should go for.
Please pour in your thoughts friends. I badly need it

If you are fixed on Michilins, get the Pilot Street (Radial) tyre. Sizes 110/70-17 and 140/70-17.Originally posted by yatishankar View Postthis one is for the owners who have replaced the rear Tyre with NOT a metz one.

The Pilot sporty isn't that much of a good tyre when compared to the Pilot Street.
Cheers

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
You are right s1d. I have D200 and have ridden 2500 kms in 4 months. Yes it is less but one thing is sure - MRFs suck in wet or sandy conditions. There is absolutely no grip at all. At times you feel like floating and sliding. Thanks God we have only about 2-3 months of rain. If crap is anything apt for defining a tyres strength, then the word suits MRFs in wet.Originally posted by s1d View PostIIRC the michelin's come in one size smaller i.e140 instead of 150 (for the rear). why not go with the mrf's that come on the d200? In dry, it is pretty good. The tyres heat up nicely and the grip is really good. The leaning capability and confidence of Duke 200 can be enjoyed best in dry.Regards,

Bought tribocor tc 40 chain lube. Rolon was available too, but got confused with the synthetic n non synthetic...so got tribocor. Cost - 350rs/500ml. Will try to apply tomorrow as n when the weather permits(raining heavily since past 2days)

I wouldn't recommend going for mrfs for the duke 390, it doesnt provide enough grip in wet conditions and even in dry, it wont be able to provide comfortable grip at high speeds(150 and above) which the duke 390 is capable. So no, do not go for MRFs for the 390. You can check for MG's review regarding the MRF tires when he tested the 390.Originally posted by s1d View PostIIRC the michelin's come in one size smaller i.e140 instead of 150 (for the rear). why not go with the mrf's that come on the d200? Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
yeh, i never thought about the speed ratings.and yes they r pathetic in wet. I was expecting them to be much better in the wet (at least when compared to other bikes such as pulsars, uni's etc).. but nah, i had two close calls due to my over confidence on the tires the first time i rode in the wet, and its worse when you brake hard. Maybe it's because the d200 doesn't have abs while the 390 comes with abs. The few times ive ridden a 390,i found the abs to be really helpful and takes a lot of stress of your head.. which is sadly not available on the 200's. And even though the mrf's are 150 section tires, i noticed that the contact patch (even if you lean to max possible) is very less for the tires' profile.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostI wouldn't recommend going for mrfs for the duke 390, it doesnt provide enough grip in wet conditions and even in dry, it wont be able to provide comfortable grip at high speeds(150 and above) which the duke 390 is capable. I had bought rolon, assumed it would be cheaper since its desi and known for its vfm chain kits. It cost me 130rs (mrp 140) for a small can of 120ml. But I observed that it was stickier compared to the oks (which also costs around 350 for a 500ml can) used at the svcOriginally posted by sharathchandra View PostBought tribocor tc 40 chain lube. Anyone else facing a massive power drop when accelerated from low rpms on 3rd gear? I've been facing this issue randomly.
I was under the impression that it was caused by the clogging up of fuel filter, but this time it's happening right after a fuel filter change and I've been using only Shell fuel.

How low are we talking? 4-5k rpm on third is fine but ktm's are not known for very low end torque. Below 4k rpm you'll feel power loss almost as great as the surge of power you feel past 7k rpm. On another ktm thread I've posted the minimum speed per gear of both 390 and 200 you could check that out for reference.
And I sincerely hope it not a real issue coz then the only thing it could be is a fault with the throttle body.
Check the air filter once. The air box pulls a lot of air in with a lot of force and as such can pull something in that could be blocking the air flow. I once pulled out the rubber band that holds the tool kit out of it. The rubber band snapped and immediately went into the air box, then caused lagging and power loss. Once I removed it the bike was back to normal.
I hope this helps.Last edited by Balgi; 11-15-2014, 09:22 PM.

Low rpms in the sense what range? I usually accelerate from 4-5k and its quite fine, if you are accelerating from below that, you would be lugging the engine and you should be downshifting.Originally posted by vijeth v View PostAnyone else facing a massive power drop when accelerated from low rpms on 3rd gear?
