Hi I own a duke 390. I require spare parts like brake pads oil and fuel filters. when i ask the showroom for this parts they not willing to retail this parts separately. They want the bike to be serviced by them. I prefer servicing the bike by myself and not at their service center. Is this the case in every KTM showroom? Did anyone have bought these parts separately?

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi,
Guys. I need some help. I had enquired about Duke 390 on this thread just a few days back. So presently, I got a good deal and sold my 2.5 yr old ZMR just 2 days back for 70k due to it being a bit bulky for me. The bike was awesome though. I now want a light-weight bike. I'm almost sure of buying the D390 but have a couple of issues in mind. Hope for u ppl to clear it out:
1. Reliability- Is the reliability of D390 good? Just read this review written in Feb 2015. My head was spinning after reading it:
Is the bike niggle-free? My old ZMR was a bullet-proof bike. Not a single issue in 2.5 yrs. However, I maintain my bikes very well. Always keep it inside a garage and wash it twice a month religiously. I WANT A BULLET-PROOF NIGGLE FREE BIKE.
2. On-road price mentioned by the Showroom guy here in Guwahati is Rs.2.21 lacs while RC390 is Rs.2.40 lacs. Is it correct? Only 19k difference? I thought the difference between the two was around Rs.35-40k. Is it due to the addition of slipper clutch? Somewhere on net I saw OTR in Delhi to be 2.05 lacs. Are the Showroom guys trying to play with me by taking extra commission?
Also, they said minimum waiting time for the bike is 30 days. Really?? Is this standard all over India?Last edited by jack_daniels; 11-12-2015, 10:30 PM.

OK it's not a bullet proof bike. Literally as well as with the feel you said.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostHi,

It's not bullet proof, but its niggle free. Especially the 2015 models. But be prepared for small DIY stuff.
It's called showing love.
So show some love and get a grin plastered every time you ride her.
Next the price. It was 2.05 lacs in stone age. Now with roll off of duties and all its closer to the price mentioned by you at the showroom.
Delivery- well in some showrooms its available off the shelf.
Happy Duke shopping!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Met with an accident today. Was driving very sedately, may be I was doing 40-45kmph when suddenly a drunkard decided to run into the middle of the road and as it was raining visibility was too low. I tried my best to avoid him but in the end his right hand hit the right side of my handlebar n we both fell down. Luckily I was wearing a full face helmet, a thick full arm jacket, the jacket took most of the brunt n I escaped with minor bruises. And the drunkard too escaped with light bruises. Left side crash gaurd n foot lever is broken. No other damages.
All in all, am very thankful to D390, it is the safest two wheeler you can ride when raining, abs n metzelers, lifesavers
Ride safe. Cheers.

Re: KTM spare parts
If your bike is under warranty, than most of the dealers wont give you major spare parts [by major i mean the big expensive ones] Or else most of them will be happy to sell you parts. as they make good money out of it.Originally posted by siddeswaran View PostHi I own a duke 390. if you ride a bike more than 90% of it capability all the time than no matter what brand it will go kaput.
make your mind what you want to do with it i.e touring , daily commuting or track days. [we normally try to get every thing out of one bike
]
price will differ with sate tax law. in Odisha its close to 2.10
after the 3yrs of launch if a dealer is saying that waiting time is 30 days, you should know that the dealer doesnt have deep pocket to maintain stock.

You said you wanted a light weight bike. Despite its appearance both the ZMR and the Duke 390 weigh about the same(157 vs 154kgs kerb weight)
I have a 2013 Duke 390 which has clocked over 30k, no reliability issues so far.
No bike is bullet proof and niggle free. Having said that, since it's launch in 2013 KTM have worked to resolve issues and niggles that have cropped up and the bike you'll be buying will be fairly niggle free.
Since mine was a first lot bike, I did face a few niggles. Most prominent of them being oil leaks, which was fixed later by the svc. Another issue being rim bends. I think both of those issues have been fixed with the newer lots.REVVADDICT

Also, I think 154kg is wet weight of D390. Actual weight is lesser. While ZMR has a dry wt of 159kg! Wet weight is even more!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thought of cleaning the chain today. Tried removing chain cover but then removing 2nd bolt is very difficult. So left it that way. Removed the sprocket cover and cleaned dirt accumulated inside. Now thought to take it for washing without the sprocket cover. As soon as i cranked the engine, oil started leaking from one of the nut space of sprocket cover. FYI. Oil might leake if sprocket cover's bolt is loose. Not only Great power comes with great responsibility but also with Great RISK !!! Referring to SBKs...

That much I can read buddy.Originally posted by Veeral View PostThis is duke 390 thread. Not a NS.
Although the name and character of a bike differs from another, the Basic functioning remains the same.
If the oil leaks from the sprocket nut Case, then there is Something wrong with your bike. You can take is as a suggestion, and get your bike checked, or u can keep up with your arrogance, believing that you have found something amazing in your bikesigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

Hi Shibadip, on my RC 390 too if we remove the third bolt in the sprocket cover (lower most ) the oil starts leaking. However if the bolt is fixed there is no leakage.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostThat much I can read buddy.

(bike is a 14k KM old RC 390) on my p220 these things don't happen. So looks like the oil thing differs from bike to bike.
Like there will be no head gasket oil weeping issues on your NS or a 200 Duke however they are ever present in 390.

There is nothin such as basic functionality in terms of oil leakage or sprocket cover. Your NS might have a gasket covering behing the bolt space while duke 390 doesn't have that. That was just FYI. And I've checked that with few other people too. It is supposed to happen with their bike too.Not only Great power comes with great responsibility but also with Great RISK !!! Referring to SBKs...

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I've had all of the above changed as well.including new wiring/new battery under warranty for speedo 0 and low battery warnings. It still shows zero occasionally and low battery.some of the 2013-14 models are just waste wrt this.i've totally given up.some overall quality issue.has it been fixed with the 2015 model?Originally posted by backlash4u View PostMy 390 just went in for the meter to be changed.
Reason being moisture inside. Since my bike is about to cross 30k. It sort of happened at the best time. Also the meter shows 0 kmph sometimes. After a lot of things being replaced by the svc trial and error method. They have come to the conclusion that the whole wiring kit needs replacement. So yey for me i guess....
However I have to say Bajaj does do comprehensive updates(wherever possible) to fix the niggles with each year.unlike the sticker jobs some other famous reliable brands do for newer year models.ahem ahem.Last edited by senotrius; 11-14-2015, 01:32 PM.๔ยкє ҭђгєє ภเภєҭұ เภ ๓ұ שєเภร
