Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Checked and that does not seem to be the issue, thankfully. The bike was stationary for 2 days and there doesn't seem to be any fuel loss either. Could be the sudden change in my commute, a lot more traffic and hence a lot more heat.Originally posted by Shyam Cmr View PostMust ride on!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
I did check the tyre by pouring water on it and didn't see any water emanating. Also went to the tyre dealer to get it checked he also couldn't find any air leaks. For now he suggested to use liquid solution for it and till now tyre is holding the air just fine. I'll keep checking the tyre for few days to see if works.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostOne easy method is to pour some water around the tire and check to see if you find any bubbles emanating, if yes, then you have either a slight rim bend or a tire puncture/crack. Keep us posted.
Cheers!

Only time can tell if the newer engine will be refined or not. Worldwide, KTMs are not known for having a refined engine, KTM is synonymous for raw power and brute force.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostThat's a gud bike design. Love it. Though like the current design as much. Isn't the current design better? Feature-wise the new bike is better though with seemingly reduced vibes, better pillion seat, instrument console, dual lamps, etc.
& Thanks to Bajaj & KTM for keeping the prices low.[emoji8] [emoji16]
Also, I think a windscreen would look a bit out of place on a headlight cluster like this. But it definitely looks like a more closer relative to superduke than our current model.Busy finding peace

Checked the "2017 model Spied" Thread on xBhp. Everybody is saying the same thing. That the edgy austrian looks/ design of the earlier KTM is gone. Hope they don't do an RS200 on this one. Jokes apart, my D390 is quite refined. I'm really satisfied. Though I ride really carefully & always try to keep away from potholes. My bike's really smooth. It's Dec 2015 model. I guess most of the niggles have been ironed out.

I doubt they'd do something like a rs200 considering it will sold across the world. Let's wait for the final output!Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostChecked the "2017 model Spied" Thread on xBhp. Everybody is saying the same thing. Refinement is a relative term.. some compare apples v oranges and the argument continues. you buy a 390 for a specific set of reasons and say a ninja 300 for another set of reasons. As long as the owner is happy chap, nothing else matters!
psst.. i hope its a 690 and not a 390

Have it checked at the svc. Ask them to connect their diag tool and see if the fan is coming on at the appropriate temperature.Originally posted by Vijesh View PostToday i have observed that after riding in b2b traffic for 5 kms my duke started showing high coolant temp and bike stopped :-( after waiting for sometime when the 2 temp bar dropped started again and in just 2 kms it again started showing high coolant temp...as i was nowhere close to any service center so waited and started again...somehow i reached home...but want to know its been 1.5 yrs that i ve purchased the bike ...coolant level is fine ...i can see fan is also working...what could be the cause of this issue ???
Also check if the engine oil is at the correct level, and also the color of the oil (a blown head gasket would cause coolant to mix with oil causing the oil to appear greyish)
Otherwise could be a faulty sensor, a fan not working at it should, or a simple coolant change (considering its 1.5 yr old, normally the coolant should be ok to about 2yrs).

Check if the coolant is leaking around the fuel tank lid. This will happen if the drain pipe is bent. Look for a rubber pipe that comes down all the way. It is tucked in the belly pan usually. If it is bent, there won't be any circulation. There will be small rise in coolant level in that cylinder and it will increase gradually. Just make the pipe straight and it should be fine.

If it is available at a decent price, you could consider it. And don't rely on those inspections. You should personally inspect the bike and take a brief test ride where you can actually test the bike.Originally posted by scooby_dooooo View PostHey guys,
Is it a good idea to get used duke 390 which has been ridden for 6000kms ? Also it has been checked by checkgaadi.com and gives it 10/10 for everything.
Coming to used KTMs, the thing is warranty is not transferable. Even if the bike is under warranty, once you register it in your name warranty is lost. Not a huge deal breaker but something you should be aware of.
Make sure you see the service history. That way you'll know if the bike was maintained properly with proper periodic servicing.

I'd posted the same. Svc told me later that it was because the coolant had deteriorated. Better get it checked asapOriginally posted by Vijesh View PostToday i have observed that after riding in b2b traffic for 5 kms my duke started showing high coolant temp and bike stopped :-( after waiting for sometime when the 2 temp bar dropped started again and in just 2 kms it again started showing high coolant temp...as i was nowhere close to any service center so waited and started again...somehow i reached home...but want to know its been 1.5 yrs that i ve purchased the bike ...coolant level is fine ...i can see fan is also working...what could be the cause of this issue ???

I observe oil weep in the two seals on the rear brake pedal side (RHS) of the cylinder.
Did any of you face this issue? Bike is Oct 2013 model and run for 14,500kms.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

You must be surprised if there is no oil leak from seals on Bajaj bikes.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostI observe oil weep in the two seals on the rear brake pedal side (RHS) of the cylinder.

It is common is all KTM bikes and Pulsar's in general. SVC will generally put some paste to stop seepage or replace seals.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

How much were you charged for putting Loctite and how is it holding up so far?Originally posted by tusharxtreme View PostWent to the service centre to get the Bike washed and repair the broken seal, the mechanic removed the 4 bolts of the head and put Loctite sealant on the rubber seals from where the oil was seeping.
Till now it is holding good, will check after a ride in the coming days, if it again goes bust, will get the rubber sealed replaced.

After moving to four stroke bike, I thought oil leak is thing of the past. But seems like it is not the case. Second oil leak in 2.5 years of ownership. 1st one was clutch gasket.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostYou must be surprised if there is no oil leak from seals on Bajaj bikes.

I spoke to Kasturba Road KTM and I was told they apply some tape and leave it for a day to 'cure'. Cost ~250 approx. whereas I read here that it should be done for free!A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

if your bike is under warranty, they should do it for free. i had it done for free and so have a few other people, and it holds up well if done correctly.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostHow much were you charged for putting Loctite and how is it holding up so far?

they have a specific gasket sealant (not the usual anabond 666 red one thats used around paper gaskets/clutch covers) that is provided by bajaj (loctite grey colored one) and the best way to fix it (on new bikes) is to remove the valve cover, clean the surfaces and use a bit of sealant around the gasket and put it back together. It cures completely in around an hour.
Since your bike is 2.5 yr old, they probably wont do it in warranty, and I suggest that instead of using just the sealant, you also replace the gasket itself and use the sealant along with new gasket(comes with a gasket and 4 rubbers that go into the valve cover mounting holes)

Yup my bike is not under warranty.
I will drop off my bike tomorrow afternoon for this.
He was talking of putting a 'tape' and not any sealant. Even I didn't understand. Maybe I will once I go there and speak to him in person.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...
