Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Yes ... this happen to me in one of the long rides, the display went of suddenly ... and then comes back ... the code that was displayed was JG_1.7.7 ( the code was displayed like half a second ) and when i checked the net, the code seems to be of battery drain. Luckly the issue was something else... there is a valve or wire or something related to that (not sure about the exact technical name) .... was loose it seems. This was told by the service guys at KTM , Domlur , Bangalore. I took my bike there and they fixed and they didnt charge me a penny. They told if this happens again, then i need to replace the valve. They have tied it to the bike and with couple of strings and after that it looked fine. I suspect this issue was there because i use a tank bag in most of the occation i ride the ktm and the bag strap caused the issue ... not sure but have a very good probability . Hope this helps.Originally posted by Moto_punk View PostHello people, today I've been riding in the rain and after stopping and starting my 390 i noticed that my instrument cluster stopped working, all the lights, blinkers and everything is working fine but the display was off, no lights or nothing. After about 20 seconds a line of numbers and letters appeared like a code and flashed for a second and everything came back to normal, after about 10 minutes the display switches off and switches on again, on doing that the time on the display resets to 1.00 it happened about 10 times, anyone here experienced this?
Please do reply,thanks!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Today achieved my highest ever speed on the Duke 390. 158 km/h on NH37. & she had substantial firepower still left. But, I had to slow down as the roads were becoming little wavy causing the infamous swerving motion in the bike. Previously, I had only gone till 140 km/h. With this now I can definitely say that yes she has substantial pulling power even at top end. & the Metzelers were brilliant. Kept the bike so STEADY & comfortable. Just love them. Awesome tires.

I thought heating was fixed. Anyways the power is exhilarating and thats a small price to pay for the 44 horses you get.Originally posted by Rohith Rot View PostHey bro, congrats, even i have a 2016 duke 390, I brought it june 1st, except for the heating everything is amazing, it hate traffic. it heats up quite quickly and switches off quickly as well.Cheers

Not completely but manageable....👍
It won't fry your calf like the older 390's....😊

Got the problem fixed, apparently it was just a single wire which was cut in halfOriginally posted by Moto_punk View PostHello people, today I've been riding in the rain and after stopping and starting my 390 i noticed that my instrument cluster stopped working, all the lights, blinkers and everything is working fine but the display was off, no lights or nothing. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi Everyone,
I am likely to join in this thread. Yes, I had bought a new 2016 KTM Duke 390 last month. Even though there are rumors about 2017 all new version of Duke 390 I was unable to hold my nerves. I had previously owned a Duke 200 2012 model and sold it within 6 months of time at around 6k km. I was always lived with refined Japanese engines in my life and the Duke 200s hooliganish rush nature and unrefined raw power delivery was a setback to me as I was a tourer type of person.
Duke 200 is best enjoyed in town and no one can beat it. In highways it is a different story. The ultra quick acceleration led to very high rpm when cruising in 100 to 110 kmph speed. My riding will be mostly in highways. So it was not a good decision to keep the Duke 200 and I sold it.
Then I bought a Honda Unicorn Dazzler and it was a very smooth creamy motorcycle to run and I was riding it to my daily duties. I also bought a Karizma ZMR for my long stints. Fast forward to 2016, one day I was riding my ZMR I found that there is something lost in years of busy business schedules. I have lost the feel, the adrenaline rush and heart thumping nature of the Duke 200. Yes I loved that very much without knowing that. I missed the four stroke RX100
I was thinking for a week and decided to go for Duke 390 this time. At this time, ZMR was also generating some problems. As my wedding day was arriving on June 6, I booked a white colored 390 on June 3rd through Avinashi road KTM and the bike is not available in there. Sungam KTM or Mettupalayam road KTM too do not have a white one.
So I discussed with the sales manager of Avinashi road KTM(ARAV motors) and he immediately called the MD of their showroom and explained my situation and my wedding anniversary dates. Within one hour, they arranged me a White KTM Duke 390 from Victory KTM, Salem. I thanked them very much, paid amount in full and went to Salem next day.
Next day I went to the Salem KTM(Victory motors) with my brother. As the Salem KTM was informed about my arrival, the showroom guys have done PDI before we were there and they said only one White Duke 390 had came in yesterday's truck. I checked the bike and the odometer was 0. Yeah, I am going to ride really a brand new bike and I am the first to ride it. I was so excited and forgot to take the photocopy of that
The bike was registered temporarily and I took it to Coimbatore on the superb 4 lane and 6 lane roads. Before taking the 390 I sat on the 200 to analyse whether something has changed or not. The handle bar of 390 is little bit wider in my perception. I started the new Duke and it started in the first crank and roaring unevenly. I felt vibrations all over.
I slowly moved on to the RTO office to register it with the salesman accompanying in another Duke 200. Many showroom persons thrash the new bike as if it was their last ride(It is my own and personal view). As I was aware of new bike riding techniques, I drove carefully on the oped roads with holding the nerve to explode. I happily enjoyed the snatchy ride and quick revving engine hearing the truly involving exhaust note.
When I rode the Duke 390, instantly got the feel of Duke 200 and I felt 10 years younger and got the pride of regaining the crown after some stressful years. Drove around 150 km all the way to Coimbatore.
The 390 is very powerful but all the power is put down in a more mature way so that we can enjoy the ride. However I miss the adrenaline rushing nature of the 200. The 390's taller gearing may be the reason I think. The increased cushion height in the seat helped very much.At 100kmph in 6th gear around 6300rpm is like lazy riding but it was very much to my liking. The cruising speed will surely increase in future though.
Overall a nice bike to ride in town and highway. I have attached some of the photos.
