There is a buzzing/rattling sound coming somewhere from Headlight assy. Few days back, I had the Headlight assy removed to fit the windscreen screws properly.

There was no noise then. This morning (after four days of opening up of headlight assy) there is a buzzing noise. I don't think it is the resorvoir hitting the fuel tank as some have experienced.

Anybody who have faced this issue? Request you to share your diagnosis & fix. All this while I was happy that I didn't face any niggles on my bike. I guess the 1st started

Anybody else here have any news of any official statement on the number plate holder replacement part, a friend of mine here in bangalore had been to the SVC about 2 days back and the did not replace it nor did they inform him about such a procedure being carried out.

          Cheers

The rattling noise comes mostly when there is a loose screw/nut.
Do this, open the plastic parts and install very thin rubber seals with every screw. I did this with my R15 and now there isn't a single vib or noise from the fairing. It would help in supressing these small rattling noises to a great extent.
            Hope it helps.

            Ride safe and have fun.

Lol at the horn I wonder what the expression of people would be like once they hear that horn and a 390 zips past them

And those headlights do have a good throw from reviews I read earlier, night highway rides should be a lot easier now.

And it is a Fazer windshield am I right?

Check the bolts connecting the leg gaurds with the chassis. They were at fault in my case.

Being unavailable, I had ordered them with KTM Kirti Nagar SVC. The bolt arrived after one month, and they now want me to get the orignal bolt removed myself from some welding guy, who I need to look for myslef. The orignal bolt was broken in its seat from the begining. They also insist that I'll have to leave the bike with them overnight in case I want the whole procedure done by them. All that for replacing a bolt that was broken in the first place. They also insist that the risk of any damage being caused in course of removal of that bolt using welding lies with me. I've been virtually riding without a leg gaurd now for over three months. Cheers

Is it my eyes or the front number plate in the Pic not looking horizontal... I also see avenger mirrors - any particular advantage? Just asking if you don't mind.

Also Question : Are you using the 2 extra connectors inside the MID for these lights? If yes then I would be interetsted to know how, since I plan to make a plug&Play lighter out of it to connect mobile charger/GPS etc.

Good reason to remove leg guards and buy the crash bobbins I guess either from KTM,JC Moto or Motofusion ...

I dont think those will aid as fog lights. First of all its pure white light which is never good in foggy condition.
Secondly it will blind the opposite traffic. Look how bright it is.

The lights come with mounting points. Just have to find a place to mount it. and take a cable from each light. Electrical connections can be done in the following options:

                          1. Connect it in such a way that a separate control switch can be mounted on any desired location, like handle bar. With this approach, no OEM wiring is cut / peeled. Downside is that even if someone switches it on without the key in the bike, the light will work. :P Ideal condition for drained battery situations.
                          2. connect the light with a separate control switch, can be mounted anyplace, drawing current from the OEM wiring. OEM wiring will be minutely peeled at one place, within the headlamp assembly.
                          3. connect it in such a way where the light is controlled with parking light switch, meaning keeping the switch in middle will light the parking light, as well as these two LEDs. in this approach, oem wiring will have to be slit at a place inside the headlamp assembly to draw the current. This is the options i have gone for.

Lol at the horn I wonder what the expression of people would be like once they hear that horn and a 390 zips past them

i had actually bought them for my trek bicycle, but generally mounted on the 390. Yeah, those lights are useful. i travel every night from jigani to bangalore (25 kms) and they make a visible difference.
and yes, thats the fazer windscreen with lower portion grinded, as it was interfering with the OEM light.

Is it my eyes or the front number plate in the Pic not looking horizontal... I also see avenger mirrors - any particular advantage? Just asking if you don't mind.

Its the pic angle i guess, cos the number plate is horizontal. Yes, avenger mirrors, much better then stock in terms of field of view. But i feel there is still scope to improve the rear view.

i remember reading on the thread about those two connectors, and tried to locate them with the help of a mechanic. Could not find them. so connected to the parking light wire by making a small splice.i think i can hide the splice by removing the aux lamp setup, incase of any electrical related warranty claim comesup. I do hope such a situation does not arise.. touchwood!

that buzzing/rattling sound from headlamp assembly is famous among other niggles. for me it started 2 days back at 3100 kms... very annoying. no time to take it to ASS just for this. next service...

Correcta! those are on the line of replacement for the headlight, or additional light, and not really fog light. as you rightly said, white will penetrate the fog less then say yellow! secondly, never judge how bright a light is by a picture, as the sensor exposed to light for a bit extra time can make a candle appear brighter then the mid day sun.
These LED lights are quite bright and can cause discomfort to the oncoming traffic, but no where close to what a HID does without the projector. The good part is the mounting joints gives flexibility to adjust the angle of the light. Keep it inline with the OEM lowbeam and and there is no trouble for on coming traffic. Angle it high to receive the curses.

i will be damned to see/ hear that horn on D390... F******* lol... BTW would you get time to press it while on this bike?

he he! that horn was laying at home, so generally mounted it on the bike. Not really meant to be used, but it does work. otherwise i have the roots twin for the regular use on the 390.
Hey, i have a old school cycle ganti mounted on the handle bar of the Classic 500. Once in a while, while standing at a red light, i use it and weird and confused looks from the folks around.. clean fun..

                              Steps to install those LED:

                              * buy the LED online or off line.
                              * take the bike to a small road side metal worker. someone with a welding facility, like the guys who make metal grills / gates etc.
                              * explain him the basic requirement, and the place where u want to mount the lights. We will take a small metal piece, make holes at both the end, and heat it and bend it to requirement. once its finalised, u can just spray it black with a spray can, to avoid rusting. if time permits, u can finish it nicely and even powdercoat it orange.
                              * mounts bracket you just make to the bike.
                              * mount the led lights on to the metal bracket.
                              * open the top two screws of the headlamp assembly.
                              * snap out the console / screen part
                              * twist the headlamp assembly downwards. (it pivots at the base joinery)
                              * Search for the parking lamp wire. (you may require a local bajaj mechanics help)
                              * make a think splice in the wire
                              * take the two wires coming from the two led light, and route them to the head lamp assembly
                              * join the wires together, and connect it to the parking lamp wires.
                              * neatly tape them using a good quality insulation tape.
                              * Put the headlamp assembly etc back in its place.
                              * adjust the beam throw distance (you will require night time for this) and tighten the light mounting joints.
                              * use it as and when desired. Better to keep it on during day time, as it improves riders visibility, and only consumes 10 watts each. (total 20 watts)
                              * good part is you can keep it on, and still flash the OEM high bean when required to overtake, etc.

                              My Concern:

The LED lights by itself are brighter then the OEM halogen, and would be good for the city usage, at the same time consuming less power.
ON the highway, i would be using the LEDs along with OEM halogen to get maximum illumination. given that OEM high beam is 60 watts + 10W each for the LEDs, the total consumption would be 80W. would be duke's battery be good enough to cater to those requirements? should i be worried? dont want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a chargeless battery.
