Strange , I said this to them and she did not have much to say to me. Some nonsense reason. I am not sure on how to handle this yet. But i will not allow them to rip me off on the registration part. I am going to vytila showroom t'mrow and will be talking with the manager about these blown up "charges" that they are making the customers pay.

How much are you paying as handling charge and registration charge ?

Mate, where at Trichur do you work ? Trichur is getting a new KTM showroom in a month or so. If I could have waited then I would have taken from there.

I think it depends on how many loads they are getting, cochin showroom seems to be getting a good number of bikes in each lot 12-14 bikes is what i heard from them.

BTW, my bike is ready for delivery but due to office taking it tomorrow morning

To be frank , I have no idea, they are saying some mumbo jumbo things that i am not able to understand. On enquiring I found it is also there in another showrooms across kerala. But now i got to know its only 500 at Tvm showroom and 3k here.

Yes, 3M has a store at Cochin , near Gold Souke mall. They do such works there. I also have a online link for the Transparent paint protection film. Check this and this.

I am having the same problem with my Tri color CBR, so even I am ordering one roll and going to stick it, but have to do a detailed buffing on the tank surface first.

Anybody else tried to paint their alloys black in bangalore? If yes, where/how much/how did it go?
I know many of you think black alloys will make the 390 look even more like the 200, but really, the orange is too loud for me

Went to the IndiraNagar showroom as I was required to sign some form. I had already made the payment of 230 for affidavit last week, but since there was no bill, there was no proof. Today they asked for 250 though I told them it was already paid- no use as there was no proof. Still did not mind the amount as I am getting the bike soon.

I have some stupid questions and require your advise.

        1. Since it is a new bike, the number needs to be written by us or will the showroom take care of it?
        2. How much petrol will be there. Not sure where the nearest petrol bunk is... do not wish to push the bike the first day I get it
        3. Will check for oil and stuff (have been following the tread and 1st IMP daily). How many KMS should I expect the odo to have clocked? around 20?

Been facing this troubling issue with the bike.

The engine simply dies when downshifting (one in a while). Faced this twice today (thankfully the clutch was always engaged when it happened).

Was at a good 70kph when I pressed the clutch to shift down to 4, and as soon as the gears engaged the engine died. Thankfully frantically pressing the starter button brought the engine to life and I could gather speed again.

It happened again just as I was about to enter home. Was at 2nd gear at 25kph, tried to down shift to 1st, and the engine died. Pressing the starter brought it to life again.

Sounds pretty scary. Taking it to the ASS tomorrow for 1 st service. Will discuss this issue as well. Any inputs appreciated!

I have also faced this particular issue. While downshifting, the engine dies. Dont know the reason, but this happens 2-3 times during my commute (15kms).

On good roads she can manage, even though she was complaining of lack of space, but on bad stretch i could hear her grumbling through the helmet. Another problem is she wants a relaxed ride and Duke urges me to wring the throttle. Anyways after completing the trip i went straight to the service center and asked them to change the oil and filter. When they were about to change it they realized there's a small leakage of oil. I was terrified, but they told me not much leakage, but the O-ring is slightly loose, because of that oil started leaking. They fixed it, but didnt have any answer for me on how it happened. One thing is for sure, this bike is enjoyable only on good roads.
I faced the same problem.. Went for a 200Kms ride on Sunday and the next day I found oil leakage on the engine crash guards. Took it to the ASS and found that the Oring was a little damaged from which oil was leaking.. Got it fixed..

                    1) I am facing some vibes near the headlight /visor at around 4-5k rpm. I am also facing a deeper vibration sound at around 3-4k. Easiest way to reproduce is to engine brake at on 6th gear at around 3-4k rpm. This way there is no loud engine sound and 6th gear means that the bike will slow down slowly and stay in the rpm range for a while. I had demostrated both to the the mechanic before giving it... will find out in a day or 2 if he managed to sort it out. (Will take sometime to get it since i asked for some paiting works to be done too)

                    2) One other note : I am able to start the bike hot or cold within 1 try. I use the starter with no acceleration for 2-3 cranks and then just barely twist the throttle 1-2 cms. The engine immediately comes to life. It hasnt failed even onece in the last 2 weeks for me. Came naturally to me since thats what i did with my p220 earlier. You could try and see if it works for you!

                    3) Heating issue was pretty bad initially (eventhough i was wearing knee pads). Reduced in the second half of run-in. But i definitely wouldnt try riding it without knee pads. Its still to hot in stop and go traffic.

                    4) And for folks looking for good service centers in blore. I have been going to Auto Service in Bansankari for the last 6+ years (P220 before this). Very very good setup and the boss Venkat Shyam is a model for customer orientation like no other i have ever met. Period! If you have any issues (bike or service), talk to him! Its the only service center i have been too (older bikes/car stations included) that i am happy with.
Even I have the same problem.. I hear some vibes near the handlebar/headlight area around 3K to 4K rpm.. I didn't know what it was.. Will check the visors tomorrow and see if that's the culprit.. meanwhile if you guys zero in on the problem, do let me know..

KTM RC series is there on KTM web site
                        KTM RC 390 2014 - Highlights

It seems like it will be launched very soon in europe. It has more ground clearance than duke 390 but less wheel base, more weight and less suspension travel.

I agree it is a safety feature. But then, why allow the starter to crank unnecessarily? The starter is not disabled even when the KILL switch is ON.

Did chain tightening get rid of the chain slapping noise for anyone. Even after tightening, my 390 persists with that noise!

Not really. I was facing MAJOR chain slap 'Thud', showed it to SS and got it tightened. Even after that, the sound is there, may be a tad bit less frequent. Hope it settles down, else it may be a deal breaker for me, as i cant stand unwanted sound from my motorcycles.
