KTM service station is 10 km from showroom and service station guy was telling that it bike is recevied in panvel and then driven to vashi. Also I think they will have to take it to RTO(andheri) and back which can add another 80 kms . How can you guys get bike with less than 5 kms was your bike not taken to RTO or taken to service station for PDI or your speedometer was disconnected till the moment before delivery.
They don't take every bike to RTO as it depends on the relation between them and RTO. Previously when I bought Hyosung, my bike never visited RTO but the registration was done!

Also, as I said the other duke parked there for delivery had also run 205 Kms. Now I'm also worried about how the bike was driven those 200 Kms. The gear warning indicator was also not set. I looked though the manual and had them changed at home. :\

My 390 also doesnt have the shift light set at 7500rpm. It too goes all the way to redline before it shows that red shift light .

I have heard people say that it wont rev beyond 7.5krpm till the service center guys unlock redline in 1st service. But mine revs all the way.

Ditto.. These guys have jugaad at RTO office and not every bike needs to be ridden to the RTO for registration.

When I asked the manager about this, he told me that was done during the PDI checkup and all the bikes were tested so much. To my surprise, yes all the new bikes standing there for delivery had run 200+ Kms. Is this normal? Can someone confirm this?

Apart from that lovely, lovely bike. Truely a pocket rocket! I feel the suspension is a bit tight in mine, but apart that no complaints.
Scarily fast, Spot on breaks, build quality was ok, gear shifts were good, I feel the clutch is a bit tight but nothing to complain, and lastly as everyone said the engine gets too hot.

Will give a detail report after an extensive ride next weekend.
When i got my duke 200, showroom guys were also giving me 200 km run bike but i didn't take it, because its not normal. That bike also had few scratches here n there, i suspected the bike given to me was used on ktm day. Finally i got my bike which had run only 5km at the time of delivery.
Check your bike if everything is ok there is nothing to be worried about.

This usually happens when shifting from 4th to the 5th. On the display the gear number goes blank when this happens. It doesnt happen every time but has happened twice to me so far. Is it that i am doing something wrong or i need to get the bike checked? Also when i try to downshift gears when i'm still, like say i have to stop suddenly when i'm on the third and i try to down it to first while remaining stationary it doesnt shift, i have to move the bike forward or backward a bit to make it shift, the gear indicator again goes blank when this happens.
              hi,
as per my experience it happens only when you are shifting in higher gears since the distance you have to press the gear shift lever up with the foot becomes longer and depending on the size of your feet and shoes you are wearing it can get difficult to precisely shift - put enough pressure. the way out is to adjust the gear shift lever so that it rests a bit lower. try it out, i always do this on my bikes.

The red light is just an indicator that is set to light up at 7.5k (or maybe whatever k you want) to just warn you when you hit the limit set while the bike is in its run in period. It is not a 'rev limiter' & just an indicator to remind you to not 'rip' the bike during its run in period.
This is the way it is set up on the duke 200 and i believe this will be the case with the 390 as well.

Considering the torque at rear wheel in each gear, power and speed, D390 is far better than Ninja 250.

If low maintenance, naked, and cheap spares is primary requirements then consider 390 (why not wait for RC390?). Both are equally good motorcycles and cant go wrong. Though 390 is yet to prove its durability.

If I were you, i would have stock with Ninja and wait for RC390.

IMO the proper upgrade from N250 will be N650! Once you taste twin there's no point going ba k to single!

                          Hi,

Was thinking to buy a paddock stand for cleaning/maintenance purposes. the cheapest one i found was Kraftewerk Universal Paddock Stand
[KRPS02O] from planet DSG for 3499 + shipping. If anybody has done any DIY paddock stand or a cheaper but sturdy one in blore for KTM 390 please let me know.

also can anyone suggest Motul dealer/distributor ( have heard a lot of fake motul products floating in JC road- hence asking for an authorized dealer) for coolant & chain spray in bangalore

The coolant too may be available. I am not very sure.

The spray and cleaner each costs around 500 bucks.
