Venkatesh Velmani....exact same problem...vibration near visor area...at around 3k rpm. am waiting to see if the vibration increases. Plus when the bike is slowing down to almost standstill brake pad makes noise, but i've been told it should be ok with miles...somehow i'm very unhappy with the O-ring being loose and these minor niggles...my P220 never had this kind of problem after 30000 kms...anyways lets see...

Bike kitti
...got the bike yesterday 6 pm.Happy happy happy
Hadn't done a single km when i received it.It was 0.0 on the odo..n guess i'm the only one who got is yesterday cause of the delay they caused last week :P
First impression...
Well i don't have to give an intro about the power...its absolutely brilliant ! Love the way you can zip through traffic !
There is a noticeable change in sound too...didn't realize that until now...it actually sounds a whole lot better than the 200...n the sound past 4-5k rpm is awesooooomm !XD
You can really feel the heat when riding below 30 ...40 too.No big deal though but it's gonna be a pain in the morning busy hours.
Didn't notice any sound from chain slapping or anything like many of the guys here said.Guess ill know with time ! :P
Few of the minor glitches i noticed :
Maybe it'l get better with time but as of now its extremely irritating trying to get to neutral...it goes straight from 1st to 2nd n then again 2nd to 1st every time the engine's running..i have to cut the engine n then get it into neutral.
Earlier in this thread someone posted about the gear display thing going blank n then snaps back to 1st when the bike moves again...i got it twice. The gear display goes blank and you think maybe its in neutral and when you push the bike forward a bit it snaps back to one.Never while riding though...only while it's stopped.
The kmpl thing just keeps on fluctuating ...is that normal ?
Anyway i'm totally satisfied with the machine . It's pure awesomeness ! will post pics asap. cheers !

Did chain tightening get rid of the chain slapping noise for anyone. Even after tightening, my 390 persists with that noise! The distance between the chain and the swing arm is just 5-7mm, given the condition of our roads there is no way you can avoid it. Bajaj should have done something about this but they dint, all that we can do is provide a lamination/very thin rubber padding on to the swing arm where it hits so that at least the sound is softened.Originally posted by nasirkaka View PostNot really. I was facing MAJOR chain slap 'Thud', showed it to SS and got it tightened. Even after that, the sound is there, may be a tad bit less frequent. Hope it settles down, else it may be a deal breaker for me, as i cant stand unwanted sound from my motorcycles.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey Guys, logged back after a very long time, got myself the 390 about a month ago, was one of the first few in delhi to get the bike on orange day on the 28th or 27th, whichever date it was. My two cents about the vibe problems people have been having, I had that issue as well, went to to the service center and they fixed the problem, but only temporarily. The vibes and sond that comes at 3-4k RPM is apparently due the the cog/sprocket at the crank not being lubricated, so when its dry it makes that sound, oil it and its gone. Like i said temporarily, after a few days its back becuase its dried up again.
Another problem ive been having, which is where i need your alls help, is that when im riding, and when i suddenly let go of the accelerator and pull the clutch at the same time, the engine just shuts off. This has started happening after the first service, and has been happening atleast once a day. Asked the service centre guys, and they have no clue, and will find out for me. Ill check the fuses when i get home today, but has anyone else had this problem, and if so, have they found a fix for it, or atleast why it happens.
your help would be awesomely appreciated.

Most of the bike are having a rubber guide on the swing arm that prevents chain directly slapping swing arm.Originally posted by shelton_jh View PostThe distance between the chain and the swing arm is just 5-7mm, given the condition of our roads there is no way you can avoid it. Does 390 have that?
Yup, it's already there.. it's not there for the entire swing arm's length though.. only at the corner!Originally posted by shelton_jh View PostThe distance between the chain and the swing arm is just 5-7mm, given the condition of our roads there is no way you can avoid it. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yeah it isn't disabled...Maybe the ECU is programmed that way...it kills the engine the moment it's in gear ...the bike wont start in gear WITH the stand stand down no matter how many times you press the starter. No probs at all in neutral but in gear the engine shuts off.i realized that after 2-3 tries lol :POriginally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostI agree it is a safety feature. But then, why allow the starter to crank unnecessarily? The starter is not disabled even when the KILL switch is ON.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
No bike has it for the entire swingarm length, but if its there in the corner(near to front sprocket) it should do the job, as it is where the chain is going to slap swing arm.Originally posted by Venkatesh Velmani View PostYup, it's already there.. it's not there for the entire swing arm's length though.. only at the corner!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I guess the noise is coming from the chain hitting the underside of the swing arm. The rubber guide is on the upper side. Most of the bike are having a rubber guide on the swing arm that prevents chain directly slapping swing arm.
Does 390 have that?
While i was at service center, i checked the swing-arm underside of a duke 200, and saw an eroded area, where the chain would be hitting on the potholes. Will check it on my bike too, and confirm here. So much for making those big fat swingarms.
The bike's butter on smooth tarmac, but the slapping sound is a dampner on broken roads which are a plenty in our country. Not sure if a rubber sheet would work, as the material would get rubbed off in no time, sandwiched between the moving chain and the SA.
