DukeDey...Last sunday i took out the bike after 10 days of hibernation, and went for a 500km ride. Initially was not getting confidence with the brakes, but after few kms it was fine, the whole journey didnt have any problem, as you mentioned, 2 fingers braking, no problem. Off topic question, anyone going to IBW on jan 17, 18??

both our bikes are from same truck... even i feel same about the brakes. losing too much energy. what to do? but still the bike stops, and stays in control . the only matter is the input needs to be higher. higher than in a P 150. funny.
i was thinking all 390 s got this problem and was planning to put in dot 5 brake fluid next time.
BTW, in d 390 i hardly need brakes, letting off the gas itself brings down speed and a blip/ downshift is so confidence giving. though this is not applicable when ripping at 7k rpm. maybe im more of a slow rider.
what about bulbs dude? i gotta change both.I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

I took the vehicle to adjust the chain tension yesterday. Even after the chain was tightened, I could heard the chain slapping noise. So I tightened the chain and adjusted the clutch cable myself at home today. The gear change sound is gone now. The gear shifts are soo smooth now, just like a Honda. Even from the 1st gear to 2nd, I couldn't hear much sound. Try it out and let me know about your feedback.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Since last 2 days i have been getting ticking sound from the engine and loss in acceleration. Does someone know if the bike needs tappet setting or is it because of adulterated fuel?
(bike has covered approx 2000kms on odo)
I have managed 155 in 5th gear, don't know about the rest. These figures are from MG's review of the bike.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostJust a quick question.. How much speed are you all able to extract from each of the gears. Mine are as follows:
1 ~ 40kmph
2 ~ 60kmph
3 ~ 90kmph
4 ~ 110kmph
5 ~ 125kmph

Max speeds in each gear

Ticking sound in my case was diagnosed as noise coming from tappets and shims need replacement. (started from 500kms
) I did not notice any drop in acceleration though.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Its not that I am redlining all the way. I usually change gears at 8k rpm and got these figures. In the first three gears if I try to cross 8k, the engine really starts creating a ruckus.Originally posted by DukeDey View PostThe figures quoted by motorheadZMA are what they should be. Check out this video that i managed..all these gear changes were done keeping in mind the power band for max power so to get quickest acceleration.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I did not feel anything wrong with brakes. Two fingers operations has enough bite. May be you should wait for few more kms and see.Originally posted by DukeDey View PostI wonder how no one is complaining about the bad brakes on the 390. The initial bite has just vanished. The front free play is so much that it feels like a drum brake that needs to be tightened.
I really am pissed with the front brakes. Not just my bike, every 390 I have ridden has the same issue. Its not like brakes are weak but you have to grab the lever with all your might to get it working.
Disc brakes should not be like this till the time there is low brake fluid, but even that is not the case here. What happened to two finger braking, that is the way I love it. The duke 200 has far better brakes, how?
I remember redlining in 2nd and 3rd gear. On 2nd it was around 80kmph+ and 3rd gear it was 105kmph approx.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostJust a quick question.. How much speed are you all able to extract from each of the gears. Mine are as follows:
