Just adding a general observation. Of late, since im very often late to and from office, i ride my D390 really hard. And I've started noticing the change in sound. It's louder. Noticeably louder. Is that how it is? Sounds like a bajaj auto in Chennai with altered sound, slightly bassier. Can someone comment if there is something to be worried about?

I've noticed it too, but for me, when I ride it hard(10-11k RPM), for a while the sound changes, and then again the next day it sounds the same. I just ignore it usuallyOriginally posted by Serene George Thomas View PostJust adding a general observation. Of late, since im very often late to and from office, i ride my D390 really hard. How long has the bike been ridden? Could it be the usual/gradual change in sound that happens as a bike finishes it's run-in? But it could also be that when you ride harder for longer, wind noise kind of muffles the engine and exhaust sound. But when you stop, you wonder if the engine is this loud and how you could not have heard it. Happens to me all the time. 😛Must ride on!

Mine is a 20 minute up and down commute daily. Close to 12 kms one side. 4 kms in bumper to bumper traffic. My bike is 26 months old and have done close to 13k kms. Its something ive recently noticed. Btw, my hard riding is like 5 to 8k rpms. Im a pretty sober 390 rider. Else i normally do it smooth and under 5k rpm.Originally posted by ananthu View PostHow long has the bike been ridden? That most definitely isn't the run in completion 😂. But that is an intriguing issue, just to be sure have all the major bolts and fasteners checked for the recommended torque. More experienced members will give you better advice though.
P.S I'm a sober 390 rider too, especially after last weeks scare.Must ride on!

Same with me. The initial bassy sound is gone. Nowadays, the bike sounds so Auto'ish. Treble has increase way too much. Maybe the engine has become more smoother than before. I'm buying System G as it does worry me sometimes. Everything else is alright though. I'm going for a Rossi decal change next month. As I'm a huge Rossi fan.Originally posted by Serene George Thomas View PostJust adding a general observation. Of late, since im very often late to and from office, i ride my D390 really hard. Did you guys change helmet or the cushion on the helmet which covers the ears became loose.one generally notices more treble or more sound when the helmet cushion becomes loose as this let's you hear more sound than before.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostSame with me. Nope. My sparx helmet is actually quite snug. It fits me quite tightly. I think it's more about the engine becoming smoother. And yes, I am a revvy type of rider. But, I don't revv too high. Just the normal fast rider.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostDid you guys change helmet or the cushion on the helmet which covers the ears became loose.one generally notices more treble or more sound when the helmet cushion becomes loose as this let's you hear more sound than before.
& yes, the ABS is a real boon. Earlier, everytime I braked on a speedbreaker on my ZMR, it used to scare me bcoz of the amount of sliding. But, Duke feels so safe. No sliding even once till now. I brake almost at twice the speed than my ZMR in front of speed-breakers & the bike remains rock solid. On my ZMR, I'd have spun the bike at those speeds I'm sure. I think ABS should be made mandatory on all bikes by the govt. It's an awesome piece of technology.

Ya abs is indeed best. Also I think is the tyres which does the magic. Its extremely stickyOriginally posted by jack_daniels View PostNope. My sparx helmet is actually quite snug. I miss riding my 390 on those roads!Originally posted by Skanda View PostCompleted 620kms Bangalore-Ooty-Bangalore round trip. Mileage during onward journey was 27 and while returning, it was 31. Completed hard run in by revving till 9k RPM and topped 145Kmph.
Riding on the curves was never his fun! Windscreen was awesome and there were no wind blast even at 120 - 130 Kmph. Redline plus was lot better than stock seat, even with it, arse stars to pain after few hours of riding.
Btw did you do the whole trip in a single day? Then I guess the arse would start paining on any bike, heck even sitting on a sofa for that long a time will give anybody some pain
I have heard they are brilliant but they used to cost 7k+ INR couple of years back. But I dont know if they are worth that price. Also it mightve become cheaper now, you have to check that at the showroom. Maybe you can ride more with redline seat and see if you get used to it with time than investing so much on seat right away.Originally posted by Skanda View PostMy questions,
1. Has anyone used KTM power part seat? How better is it compared to stock? I think that combined with redline plus should solve the seat problem.
That was the problem I used to face as well, the chain needing adjustment often. I guess that's just the way it is.Originally posted by Skanda View Post2. Even after adjusting the chain, and then riding for 620kms, the slack has become pretty loose. I have not seen any chains becoming so loose even after 1.5k Kms. Is this common?Last edited by Adarsh_Bk; 03-25-2016, 09:24 PM.

I took 2 days to complete the trip. 390 was brilliant on the curves :-DOriginally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostI miss riding my 390 on those roads!

7k is way too costly! I think I will get used to Redline+ after sometime. Chain slack is really a big headache! It gets loose too soon.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostI have heard they are brilliant but they used to cost 7k+ INR couple of years back.

Bought from Amazon USA, for Rs 4000. Got it delivered to my sister who then got it here.Originally posted by red liner View PostCould you please tell me how much you paid for the spal fan and where you got it from? I would very much appreciate details on the buying process...
SPAL also has an Indian subsidiary, called them up but they said they will only call for shipment from SPAL Italy if one orders in bulk, at least 20-30 pieces in one order. Hence decided to buy from US itself. The subsidiary is "pee aar exim."Last edited by TrippieHippie; 03-26-2016, 01:33 AM.
