  • Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences

Guys, I had a small incident last night. Rear ended a Santro when the guy stopped on the right lane. I usually keep at least a car's distance from the vehicle in front. I really don't know why I wasn't able to stop in time. Did I not brake hard enough? Was I too fast? ( I was at 40-50 kmph, impact wasn't even strong enough to cause a damage to the car's bumper ) I couldn't even see his brake lights light up. May be the fact that I had an 80kg pillion (which I'm not used to) But I still blame myself, could have been more careful. And now I'm worried about one thing and one thing alone. Did I bent the forks or the frame?

I rode today morning in the highway and tested if the bike rolls straight when I leave the handlebars. The suspension works okay and I can't see any leaks either. But I simply cannot stop looking at the forks again and again.

Do you think I should take it to the SVC? Wouldn't they say it's bent if I tell them that I rear ended a car? I don't trust their ethics. I can't seem to even sleep without thinking about this. 😩

Get it checked. However since the santro's plastic bumper was not damaged there should not be any damage to your forks. Check for marks on the fork, if there are no scratches either it is unlikely that there isnt any bend either.
      Cheerio!

I haven't used this personally but have read about it. The benefit of using silicone as hose material is that you don't have to change the hose every 1 or 2 years (depending on the quality and brand of the bike) as silicone doesn't degrade due to sun rays or other elements of nature. That's it.

Many claim that they help with heating issues but I have not read any reliable testimony regarding this claim.

I bought a SPAL fan even before buying RC 390 to handle heating issues if any, will get it installed soon and post an update.

          Cheers!

Could you please tell me how much you paid for the spal fan and where you got it from? I would very much appreciate details on the buying process...

Wiring needs to be spliced at the male/female connectors and the fan mount needs to be glazed a little bit as the SPAL fan's mount holes are thicker. Splicing is very easy, nothing too much complicated. But to flatten the mount points of the SPAL fan is a trick in fact. Rest assured it works good and have gotten good feedback from users abroad.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Congrats. Could you post a picture of the front rotor along with the caliper, close up ones where the entire rotor and caliper are visible, one or two good quality snaps, would be appreciated.

                            Cheers!

Completed 620kms Bangalore-Ooty-Bangalore round trip. Mileage during onward journey was 27 and while returning, it was 31. Completed hard run in by revving till 9k RPM and topped 145Kmph.

Riding on the curves was never his fun! Windscreen was awesome and there were no wind blast even at 120 - 130 Kmph. Redline plus was lot better than stock seat, even with it, arse stars to pain after few hours of riding. When I filled Petrol at ooty, it gobbled full 10ltrs! Can say the L/100kms and remaining Kms for fuel displays were pretty accurate. With this, the bike is ready for 1st service.

                              My questions,
                              1. Has anyone used KTM power part seat? How better is it compared to stock? I think that combined with redline plus should solve the seat problem.

                              2. Even after adjusting the chain, and then riding for 620kms, the slack has become pretty loose. I have not seen any chains becoming so loose even after 1.5k Kms. Is this common?
                              Live to Ride!

I am planning to get a Duke this summers.
Can anyone tell me their experience in Hot Delhi summers. Specially the NH24 (Delhi to Noida) experience ?
