DO we get a better quality after market fan than the one they use?

I have no idea of this but if it's available I would surely install it because in overheating problem most of the time radiator fan is faulty.Originally posted by judebrent View PostDO we get a better quality after market fan than the one they use?

It all zeroes in on a poor quality fan, which is nothing short of pathetic!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Yesterday noticed that my speedometer is continuously showing 0 at any speed, first time stopped the bike turn off the ignition and then speedo started working as usual but again after some time it gone... another problem it triggered was ABS light started glowing continuously...
They checked many things like battery/fuse/speedo cable then finally they decided to change the speedometer cable and then all fine ( no charge as under warranty).....but observed one thing during test drive that as soon the speedometer shows 1 KMPH also the ABS light will go off...... but in last 11 months period i have observed that ABS light used go off only when the bike reach 10kmph speed... for this again i checked with the service center guys for which he initially confirmed that it should go off only after 10kmph speed....then he started checking all the other bikes which were kept for servicing (we checked 4 bikes) in all these bikes also ABS light was going by the time the bike reach either 1 to 3kmph speed.....just wanted to check with others as well is this is the default behaviour in everybody's bike....
I tried some hard breaking as well can hear that tak tak sound and wheels are not getting locked....so hope all fine...

What fault could be ? Coolant mixing with engine oil ?Did changing the radiator fan solve your coolant level drop issue? Also, you've stated overheating, just a little insight, would be great, did you feel that the heat generated is too much or did you see HCT display on your speedo?Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostUPDATE : Coolant & overheating issue which I was facing was because of yet another faulty radiator fan, when I went to SVC today they again insisted me everything is fine but when I forced them to check bike again, bike shut off at neutral after 5-6 minutes. New fan was installed and air flow in this fan is downwards.
It's very frustrating to visit SVC every now and then for these types of issues, I really doubt long term reliability of this bike.
A small advice to Ktm-bajaj from my side increase prices of bikes around 15-20k but eliminate these issues.
Cheers!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hi guys, a very painful post. My 390 has done about 14k in the past 25 months. As you can guess not a very enthu rider. Currently, the engine is heating up for no apparent reason. It's like the bike stalls in reasonable traffic. I'm facing this is sure only since the last couple of weeks. Any idea what could be wrong? I'm standing on the side of the road while typing this...its so sad. Love the bike but I'm starting to dislike it somewhere

Try bleeding the radiator, by flushing it and filling in fresh charge of coolant and then see how it fares.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostSir I have to test it for few kms but yesterday it dropped within 6-7kms.
Check the coolant level, is it high or is it low on the can? Did you hear the fan working before the stall?Originally posted by Serene George Thomas View PostHi guys, a very painful post. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Hello friends, [emoji3]
Well i may be getting the 390 Duke soon , (may be next month itself [emoji14] [emoji14] )
So my querry is , how does the 390 handle city speed breakers ..
I mean my 2009 bullet electra just eats small speed breakers ..
Meaning I can easily take them at 20-30 km /hr without having to slow down ..hehehhehe basically I just jump over them ...[emoji13] [emoji13]
Now can I do the same with the Duke 390 ??
Waiting for replies ...
Thanx in advance .[emoji106] [emoji106]

What I'd suggest is drain the coolant, bleed it thoroughly, and install a fresh charge of coolant. Check the oil for any color change or frothiness and then see how it fares. That is a totally empty coolant container, it means either the coolant is vaporizing or mixing with engine oil.
Let's get the bleeding done and and see how it fares.
Cheers!

pl make some effort to google based on the horn model and description that i've mentioned.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostI'll check it asap. Thnx for the suggestion. Is it a non-trumpet horn? Any videos?
let me do it for you this time:
Hella Yellow Panther Horn Set: Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike
Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.
make sure you get a 4 point relay (not the common 3 point mechanical one which is locally called a cut out) installed if you opt for these horns. both should work but a 4 point electronic one is better and resists water and heat better.
Also the pulsar 220's dual horns can be fitted. my svc said they will do it without cutting any wires and warranty intact.
Please get the oil drained and checked. The expansion tank became empty because the coolant is sucked in to the radiator. now, normal operation will see a slight variation in the level in the expansion tank (because when hot and at a particular pressure the valve in the radiator cap opens and pushes coolant up in to the expansion tank, and on cooling down it is sucked back into the radiator).Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostHello guys, facing one more issue, day before yesterday I had a ride of around 150km and when I returned home I saw coolant was empty ( I could say nil ), took bike to SVC next day they topped up but today morning when I checked it again coolant was at min level again. since you mention the entire coolant vanishing twice, i strongly suggest you look for leaks and also check the engine oil (a milky white/cloudy appearing oil means the coolant has mixed with the oil).
Can you post a pic of the oil sight glass ?
And which month/year is your bike.. the fan pic that you posted is the open fan unit from pre-sept 2014 models. Post Sept 2014 bikes come with the fan unit that has a shroud that directs some amount of the hot air downwards.. the shroud and fan is one single piece and cannot be separated normally.
I have seen one case where a 2015 duke 200 had its fan replaced with the older model fan
I feel the open design makes heat dissipation better, and the shroud design is more to shield the rider from heat. Though am not sure if quality wise there has been any improvement between the two fans.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
Sir, thanks for your reply, radiator fan pic which I posted was second fan which was installed around 6 months back. Fan was quite hot when it was taken out and some rusting was also there on some parts. There are no leaks from hoses and mechanic checked engine oil whether coolant is mixing with it or not but he said everything is fine. Unfortunately I will have to again visit SVC and I will ask him to drain coolant and re-top up it. Today radiator fan which was installed has air flow downwards.Originally posted by s1d View PostPlease get the oil drained and checked.
