Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
What i meant to say about abs was that he removed the motor cleaned it and sightly gave a few hits with the hammer and after refitting it the abs works perfect. Am only concerned about the malfunction light always staying on. When checked with the tool it gives an error of pump/motor to which the svc guys said it's the abs motor. Now they tried clearing the error with the tool but it won't go away. So the service head mentioned that it may be a wiring issue and told me to ignore the malfunction light as everything is working fine. What should i do?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostYou can replace both the wheels and the motor.
Replacing the alloy wheels would give you a peace of mind over the ever ridden potholed roads of our country. With a bent rim, the rim has already taken the brunt and in all cases can be structurally compromised. All it takes is a slight blunt to give up, and you don't want this to happen during a ride or when you least expect.
Yes, I reckon there's a pressure difference that causes the ABS unit to sense an error, because you've mentioned it switches off after slight hammering and then only comes to return after a while plus with a new console.
Cheers!

Then that is exactly what is overflowed here. Remember, to just use dabs of oil around the filter, and do no soak the entire filter in any oil. K&N has given the oil so that the oil acts as another medium on the filter to trap the dirt. If the oil is excess, the engine can suck in the same oil from the filter along with air which can and might hamper the performance of the engine.Originally posted by omprakash View PostIf you can see, the oil is collected at the base of the box, the oil is similar color to that of engine oil, it can also be caused be excess oil oil blowby. What color was the K&N oil filter oil that was provided with the filter?
Filter oil was in light red colour. Similar to engine oil colour
Simple. Why fix if it ain't broken. If you feel the ABS light is troubling you, get yourself a black duct tape, cut it and stick it over the ABS light, you're all set. Phew, I never thought I'd say this. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Abs light is working perfect it lights up on ignition and goes off the moment the bike is in motion and also blinks when i manually turn abs off. Whats bothering me is the malfunction light located next to the shift light. That always stays on and sometimes blinks.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThen that is exactly what is overflowed here. Already on a new speedo so its not a speedo for sure. Some faulty wire or sensor probably.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
The MIL lamp is a very important feature on the Duke 390 so it helps in ascertain errors other than the ABS if any. If you feel bothered by the constant bickering of the light, do a thorough analysis with your wiring and the ABS motor unit, which is an entire unit which has to be replaced. Probably you can try your luck in the Bagh's of used motorcycles.Originally posted by hypergamer View PostAbs light is working perfect it lights up on ignition and goes off the moment the bike is in motion and also blinks when i manually turn abs off. Will certainly do this next week. Am heading for a 500 kms trip tomorrow. I really hope the bike holds up through the rain.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThe MIL lamp is a very important feature on the Duke 390 so it helps in ascertain errors other than the ABS if any. Re: KTM Duke 390 - Ownership Reviews and Experiences
After riding in the city, and the engine adequately warmed the coolant in the reservoir should be in the slightly above the min and max line, meaning. If you feel the coolant level in the reservoir is at minimum or below the minimum mark after a ride, top up the coolant in the reservoir. If possible, bleed your radiator and fill in fresh coolant. Air locks are common when coolant levels are less.Originally posted by blak bandit 350cc View PostHi there coolant level is below minimum .bike is heating up in city pretty much.should I change coolant ?

Coolant is indeed 50%water, so a little amount of water in the coolant tank to top up wouldn't harm the cooling system in anyway.Originally posted by zestbiker View PostGuys, can we add a small amount of water to our coolant tanks when top up is needed???Has anyone been doing this????First hand experience will be appreciated

Try and use distilled water instead of regular tap water though.Originally posted by zestbiker View PostThank you B7ACKTHORN-was thinking on similar lines-but rather be safe than sorry
.Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!
