    • Yamaha FZS 16

      Hello Friends,
      I Am Ajay Krishna,From Manglore
I Am Using Yamaha FZS 16 Since 2013-November.And Run About 60000kms.
Now I Would Like To Share My Experience And About My Bike.
      I Bought It For 93,000rs On-Road(Manglore)
      My First Impression:
When Bought The Bike My 1st Impression Was Really Good And I Felt Wich Is More Than Enough For What Price I Paid For The Bike And I Took Some Days To Get Set To The Bike Because Before I Was Using Hero Honda Splendor. So It Was Difficult To Handle My Bike. But Still I Got Set To The Bike After Riding 3000kms.
      Service Provided By Yamaha:
The Service Wich Provided By Yamaha Service Center's Were Very Good And Well Trained And Experienced Technicians Were Appointed At The Showroom. And The Services Were Clean And Well Done. And The Response From The Showroom Was Good. The Spares Of Yamaha Bikes Were Of Good Quality And They Have Good Life. But It's A Bit Costly Compared To Other Indian Brands. But They Are Affordable And Price Worthy.
      Engine Oil:
      *Yamaha Lube 20W40
The Engine Oil Was Providing By The Company Is,Yamahalube 20W40.Wich Was The Correct Grade Of Engine Oil Used For Yamaha FZ16.By The Company Prefference.
I Have Used Many Engine Oils And Different Grades Of Engine Oil To My Bike. Here are Those,
      *Yamahalube20W40
This Engine Oil Is A Bit Cheaper And Provided at The Service Center's Wich Was Actually Preffered By The Company. It Costed Me Around 350rs.And The Drain Interval Was 2500-3000kms.This Oil Is Good For The Riders Who Rides Not Above Triple Digit Speeds And Who Rides In An Economy Speed.
      *Shell Advance 20W40
This Oil Has Good Lubrication To Engine But Drains Faster. And It's Not Smoother Than Motul.
      *Motul 3100 20W40
This Is The Best Engine Oil in Mineral Oils And Feels Smoother While Riding And The Drain Interval Was 2500-3000kms And The Engine Cools Faster It Costed Around 380rs.
      *Motul 7100 20W50
This Is The Fully Synthetic Oil Wich Has Drain Interval 6000-7500kms.But When I Used This Oil It Drained In 3000kms And The Oil Level Became Less.So I Personally Say That Don't Use This Oil.it Costed Around 820rs.
      *Motul 5100 15W50
This Is A Semi-synthetic Oil.It Was Beyond My Expectation. Its Very Smoother And Refinements Are Very Good Even It's A Different Grade It Feels Very Refined And Smoother To The Engine. And The Heating Was Less.So I Preffer That This Oil Is Better For FZ.It Costed Around 520₹ And Drain Interval Is 3000-4000kms.
      My Prefference:Motul 5100 15W50
      Motul 3100 20W40

      Tyres:
      *MRF Zapper FX1 100/80-17
This Is The Front Tyre Preffered From The Company And.The Grip Level Was Amazing In Both Wet And Dry Condition. And also It's Cheaper It Coats Around 1800-2000₹.The Grip Level Is Very Good Till It's 75% Of Life.It Ran About 22000kms For Me.
      *MRF Revz 140/60-17
This Is The Rear Tyre Wich Is Preffered By The Manufacturer And It's A Cheaper Radial Tyre Compared To Other Brands. And It's Price Worthy,The Grip Level Was Amazing Till Its Last Thread The Wet Grip Was also Good. And it Costs Around 2800-3000₹.The Tyre Was Really Good.
      *Michelin Pilot Sporty 100/80
This Is The Front Tyre And I Don't Preffer This Tyre To Any One Because The Grip Level Is Not A Good One Compared To MRF And The Wet Grip Is Poor.
      *Michelin Pilot Sporty 140/70
This is The Rear Tyre. The Grip Level Is Poor Compared To MRF And Its A Bit Costly. If U Put Hard Breaks On Wet Condition Then The Grip is No More.Rider Who Lean Their Bike To Maximum Extent Then Using This Tyre Is Dengurous.
      Pirelli Sport Demon 100/80
This is The Front Tyre. The Grip Level Was Amazing And It's Leach like A Grip But At The First 500-1000kms You Should Be Careful While Riding Because It Feels Slippery Because Of The Smooth Rubber After It Becomes Rough The Grip Level Is Amazing. And It A Bit Costly.
      Michelin Pilot Street 140/70
This is The Rear Tyre. And The Dry Grip is Inspiringly Good. And Very Stiffer. But This Problem Is U Can't Use the Full Section Of The Tyre The Chikenstips Remain Un Used Even If U Lean For Maximum Extent.
      My Prefference:
      Front:MRF Zapper FX1 100/80-17
      Pirelli Sport Demon 100/80-17
      Rear:MRF Revz 140/60-17
      Michelin Pilot Street 140/70-17

update; One of the stock mirror was partially broken so i replaced them with the stock RVM'S of fz 25, Direct fight, Same length so no issue of being smaller/bigger than stock one, stays more vibe free at triple digit speed compared to the stock one's, the field of vision is bit less than stock one's due to design but I'm nitpicking, they look perfect and not commuterish(splendor type) like stock overall a good replacement for 302rs (pair), the stock one's cost 242rs(pair).

completed 10k Kms in about 7 months and I've never been more satisfied than this with any other automobile purchase that I've made till date.

          Yes Yamaha.

There may be specific defects on specific bikes for eg. within 6 months after buying the bike I noticed strange things on my bike. The meter console glass cracked and the plastic tank cover where the bolts are fitted have cracked. I was shocked because my bike never fell down nor I had parked my bike under direct sunlight for more than 15-20 minutes. My friends also own fzs v2 but none of them have this cracking issue. Although this was covered under warranty by yamaha my meter console and the tank cover on both the sides were replaced free of cost.
After about one year again the left side of the tank cover got cracked near the center bolt.
I haven't came across anyone in my friend circle who has faced such cracking issues, its my fate that even after replacement I faced the the same issue. Thankfully its just a single crack. Meter console and the right side of my tank cover are still intact after replacement till date.
I cannot blame yamaha for this because its like 1/1000 bikes has faced such issue and I am that unlucky one, luck plays a very crucial factor.

And if you speak of rusting as per my experience yamahas are very less prone to rusting, just have a look at RE bikes and even hornet. Both these bikes are owned by my friends and have horrible rusting issue on their body parts.

                • Fz Fi version 2 chain problems and rattling sound at lower rpms

Hi... I have a fz16 ver 2 ... I have been facing an issue with my bike. The ride feels rough or I feel something vibrates at the foot pegs. Mostly the chain or clutch bell ?? when I’ m riding at 2nd or 3rd gear at lower rpm’s it’s smooth when riding at 4th and 5th gear... I have the chain lubricated and slack set ok as per the user manual ... but still unable to get rid of the vibrations riding at 3rd gear at lower rpms especially in traffic ....I have ridden 2k kms after chain sprocket change.
