Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Must be possible. One must get a new clutch cover, seal and related components - kick lever, rachet mechanism, spring, etc. Engine should also allow that, i.e., have a hole for the kick shaft, kick gear should be able to mate with clutch, etc. If starter is working okay without problems, then a kick is not needed.Originally posted by rajat.singh View Postexactly, can we install that one in pre 2k18 variant? it must be possible.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
thanks, i have a bs iv variant and fifth service is due within 100-200km, i was planning to install headlight switch from pre bs iv version to get rid of AHO, i have no problem with AHO but just to be on the safer side i want to install the switch, so that self start does not give me any trouble in the last months of battery life as weak battery might not be able to take load of ignition and headlight together forcing for an early replacement or to leave me stranded in one/two cases, i don't want that to happen, so I'll enquire about the possibility and costs related to kick start during my next service, and update here.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostMust be possible. what about the warranty ? will it remain valid ?Originally posted by rajat.singh View Postthanks, i have a bs iv variant and fifth service is due within 100-200km, i was planning to install headlight switch from pre bs iv version to get rid of AHO, i have no problem with AHO but just to be on the safer side i want to install the switch, so that self start does not give me any trouble in the last months of battery life as weak battery might not be able to take load of ignition and headlight together forcing for an early replacement or to leave me stranded in one/two cases, i don't want that to happen, so I'll enquire about the possibility and costs related to kick start during my next service, and update here.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
As long as you do it from ASC, because we know the same bike use to have headlight switch and now will have kick starter as option, which means bike is capable of both Even if poor rules says any modification will void warranty, but the approval of warranty is in hands of service center so you can do it without worrying about money, they just want to make money and will never irk any extra customer who likes to expend extra and do maintain things on time, though in bigger cities they might not add the kicker so easily citing warranty as an excuse to earn some extra bucks and respectOriginally posted by s30.93a View Postwhat about the warranty ? will it remain valid ?

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
i have 5 year warranty, I'll never risk it in impulsive decision, during my previous service i asked them whether they can install switch from pre bs-4 to this one and they happily said yes and when i asked them about warranty? they were like it's totally fine as long as you do it from here.Originally posted by s30.93a View Postwhat about the warranty ? will it remain valid ?

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Ya just saw it. Kick starter on a FI bike, lol , as far as I remember only one brand does so i.e. RE on their 500cc fi engines. Cold starting those old pushrod junks is a task in itself . Don't know what yamaha is up to.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostGo the fzs-fi page, go to gallery and click the first pic. It says kick start available as an option.
In the first gen of v2 bikes they gave a utterly ugly looking huge mudguard & didn't provide a rear disc brake as an option even on 2014.
Then they introduced the new long rear fender which doesn't look the best atleast looks better than the old mudguard, and this can be retrofitted.
The disc brake cannot be retrofitted as far as I know and now they are even providing a larger 282mm front disc which is on the fz 25.
Yamaha did all these to cut cost as the fz 25 and fz fi will share many things in common like forks, alloys, discs & by this they will not have to produce different parts for different vehicles an in turn it will reduce production cost.
The new bigger front and rear disc will improve braking a lot bad luck for those who recently brought the fz.Last edited by Rajdip Saha; 01-15-2018, 01:05 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
These are the parts of FZ25. 282mm Disc at front and the same disc at rear from FZ25. The rims look same too. So, the parts sharing has reached to new heightsOriginally posted by Rajdip Saha View Post
This move should save more money to the company. Why are they increasing prices, when their cost is going down ?

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Thanks bro, Nice to know.Feeling kind of envious of new biken as my bike got only one brake disc and that too a bit smaller.Would have thought to upgrade to Fazer25 if it had twin headlamp.Dont want to get rid of that twin head of my fazer FI.RR310 Looks promising.I hva no complaints with my fazer though.Originally posted by kris123456 View PostThese are the parts of FZ25. 282mm Disc at front and the same disc at rear from FZ25. Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
After I bought 2017 version some 8 months ago, in the very first week I forgot to turn off the key, left it on. Next day I saw battery was dead.Originally posted by rajat.singh View Postthanks, i have a bs iv variant and fifth service is due within 100-200km, i was planning to install headlight switch from pre bs iv version to get rid of AHO.
Thanks
That day I asked service center guys to help me fit a pre bs4 bike's switch, they denied.
So went to local store and installed a cheap looking costly switch that too as an seprate component. Although if u get that original switch, do tell here. I still want to go for pure stock look.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
my fz fi tyres which did 19K kms on the odometer, got deep cracks on the side profile, these are visible when there is a load/pillion.
how safe it is to ride on these?
tyre threads are good and when i checked with SVC guy, he said that tyre has life and no need to worry.
please advice attached pics? what is the ideal time to change the rear tyre?
also, if i need to replace, what are the better options than the stock ones?Last edited by vedavyasa86; 01-27-2018, 06:23 PM.
