I brought my bike on July 6 2015 , Today the showroom guy called me and gave my registration number. So when will I get my R.C. Book? Who will provide me ? I know nothing regarding this.

Hey Anyone on his forum know the tappet valve clearance value as i need to get this ticking noise adjusted once the engine heats up....
shrikant11 seems to be affected by the same issue, i think adjusting the clearance to a proper measurement prescribed by YAMAHA for this new engine is what we want to resolve this issue. Please see below the information i found for the older FZ. Anyone knows any information on this ,we ma be able to solve this. no point relying on the authorised service centres.

Thank you for your reply. Is it a common problem in that case. IS there any solution for the same. PLease do let me know if you are aware of any good service center in Bangalore. Fed up with Pacer Yamaha, Bangalore wheels and orion Yamaha.[/QUOTE]

Hi i tried the method you have suggested.

i cruised for 35 kms today morning before i have filled up the tank full.

if i go by the kms and math.

655km - for first service. got tank full.
945km - my km for checking mileage. got tank full.

for 945-655 = 290 kms, the fuel i spent is 4.5 ltrs. (checked at the petrol bunk during refill for second step)

            so if i go the rule. 290/4.5 = 64.44 !!!

am i nuts or this bike has lost its mind?

            avg of 65kmpl on a 150cc??

also about the fuel indicator on fZ FI seems to be correct. 2 bars summed upto around 4.5 ltrs, which implies 1 bar equals to 2 ltrs of gas. as some one quoted it might behave erratically when it comes to lower bars. not sure!! but i am happy

What is the Best Mileage figure you got on you FZ FI.

I am getting very surprising number. I followed the manual method for break-in procedure. religiously followed that 4500 RPM and other sutras mentioned in the owners manual.

outcome is staggering avg of 64kmpl after 1st service !!

can some one please confirm is this possible with 150cc FZ FI ?? or am in some kind of delusion!

                  go 'Eco Mode'!!

80% of time it blinks on my FZ.

I drive in city+highway both. also riding single should get you some good mileage(which is not always possible).

try to maintain Tyre pressure as per the manual, lube that chain! it will make difference!

make sure you warm up your bike for 5 mins before you start in the morning. riding on cold engine feels little hard! same like our body requires warm up. my personal experience.

continuous riding over 75kmph may lower the number, but in city conditions its impossible to ride that speeds unless one is a chain snatcher! (no offense)

i do not own and FZ however i can suggest you an alternate route to calculate the FE 100% accurately.
this time when the last bar blinks which ideally means hitting reserve as i believe coz its an Fi bike. reset the trip meter to "0" as soon as you see the bar blink.
refuel 3/5/7 Litre. more the better. do not get a tank full rather get a certain L of fuel. and then count till the bar blinks again.
this will give you 100% accurate Km you have clocked on 3/5/7 L of fuel. check the KM. reset the meter again as soon as you get the blink again and refuel with same amount and recheck. doing it 2 times will give you the correct idea of KMPL you are getting.

bar blink > reset to "0" > refuel whenever possible > check trip km until next blink.

xxx km divided by x litre of fuel = xx kmpl.

do this exercise 2 times to get right details.
i do the same for CBR. fill 10L exactly after bar blinks i have been getting 34-35kmpl since day one in city.

Naah not 100% accurate but fairly accurate over a few iterations. You see, the moment last bar blinks; put your bike on the side stand. Let it be there for 2 min and then straighten it up. It will show 2 bars or more for a few km. Also, last bar blinking doesn't mean absolute reserve always. It's a digital sensor and you always have few hundred ml fuel plus or minus.
But yeah, over time you start getting a fairly accurate figure.

You laid out the pros and cons yourself... So its only you who can decide.
If you want a solid commuter that won't let you down stick with the FZ.
If you want an aggressive postured bike that's fun to take around for a spin go for R15.

Both bikes comes from Yamaha's stable. They won't compromise the quality for anything.
                          Happy riding.

since you are interested in yamaha bikes, I have a suggestion wait for yzf-r3/25 it may be launched in august...it has all that you desire more power and better comfort level than the yzf r15, as it is more touring oriented riding dynamics. as shifting from fz to r15 is marginally better for power but a compromise in comfort for longer rides...but its ultimately your call, just drive both the bikes back to back for a few kms then pick what feels special to you....----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

dude chill why should i troll and what will i get out of promoting a yamaha bike..??? till this year i have used only a honda and only this year i bought a yamaha. i have driven my bike from day 1 to 500 km on odo at3500 rpm till i reached 500 kms then i got 72 kmpl in this period....later i drove till 1000 kms at 4500 rpm this period gave me about ~65 kmpl...i have done a proper full tank method to get the mileage figures...i have given the same figures which i have gotten instead of quoting from any ARAI claims, please go ahead and try proving me wrong, if you own a fz-v2 do the same procedure that i followed to compleate my break in and let me know how much fe you got and also the method used to calculate the fe...just because you could not achieve a specific fe does not mean that i am lying/trolling...
