true also the white blue combo is dull compared to astral blue available currently, but it may also look better in person than in photos...Originally posted by yamaboy View PostThe one in grey and white looks better."when life throws you a curve, lean into it. "

Astral Blue for the win......
Guys am having a peculiar problem. My ride won't start many a time. And by not starting, I mean no sound at all. It feels as I am pressing the self ignition with the power switch off. The FI system boots up well when I insert the key and turn on. But the engine won't start.
And worse, this happens randomly. Sometime I switch the engine off at traffic signal, and the bike won't start afterwards. Had to do a manual start by pushing the bike and shifting into gear. What might be the problem?

Go through the manual. They have given possible reasons for such problems. Check itOriginally posted by nomad47 View PostAstral Blue for the win......

Done that. The problem is random. And I am unable to replicate it in the service center. So no help on that front.Originally posted by yamaboy View PostGo through the manual. They have given possible reasons for such problems. Check it

I am planning to replace the startup relay in next service as a precautionary measure

have the starter switch (the one you press to start the bike) and the starter relay checked. I think it might be a lose contact most probably at the switch itself.Originally posted by nomad47 View PostDone that. The problem is random. And I am unable to replicate it in the service center. Do you hear a 'clicking' sound when you thumb the starter during the times the bike doesn't start ?
Don't simply replace the parts without doing some basic troubleshooting.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
when the bike starts you will not hear the click since its very faint and is over powered by the sound of the engine.Originally posted by nomad47 View PostNo I don't hear a click, not even when the bike starts.
usually when the bike is not starting and you hear a click, it most likely means both the starter switch and relay are working and the problem is starter motor.
now since you are not hearing a click (and am not sure how prominent the click is heard on a fz), i suspect its most likely a lose contact at the starter switch itself, if not then a faulty relay.. and finally a rare case some fault in the starter motor itself.
So first have the switch and relay checked. A simple way to check the relay is by shorting its terminals with a screw driver and this should turn/start the engine.. It's a bit dangerous as a few sparks may fly as you do this.. ask a mechanic to check it.. that way if he screws up something you can ask the svc to fix it.
If shorting the terminals works, then you probably have lose connection at the switch.
Start by replacing the starter switch rather than relay. Or if you want to try some cleaning then simply disassemble the switch assembly and clean up with some wd40 and put it back together and see if this issue pops up again.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Back after a very long time on this forum and I am pleased to inform that I have bought a brand new Yamaha FZ-S V2 in the Solid Gear Special Edition. My previous bike Apache RTR 160 which got 5 years old was sold out for Rs 36,000. It performed well and good but alas i got "change" bug bit me, and decided to sell it off.
Now coming from the TVS, the FZ feels buttery smooth, but the power delievery seems just adequate for city conditions. Bit dissapointing considering I pay more than what the Apache 180 costs l, but the handling and suspension makes it up and provide very cushiony and planted ride. Like others mentioned the fuel meter does act very weird unlike my Apache. The brakes also don't have the bite as on my Apache, I wish Yamaha would have given better brakes, Other than that I am enjoying every bit of this bike. And also I am still in the Break-in period of my Hulk so keeping it cool under 4500 RPM.Last edited by Haariss92; 09-10-2015, 12:01 AM.My Machine -Yamaha Fzs V2
