Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0
Owned on 12th oct 2015,completed 2000 kms..1st service done at 800km
Giving fuel economy of 55+
Superb handling
Problems that i'm facing in traffic:-
1. On downshifting sometimes gears tend to stick followed by a gear change sound after engaging clutch.this thing trouble me in start n go traffic where gear shift would be frequent
2. Initial pickup demand frequent gear change.for my bike
1st gear0-11
2nd gear 12-20
3rd gear 21-32
4th gear 33 - 45 max
Rest all is positive..

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
My Contribution to this Thread of Knowledge and I would be elated if this is useful to anyone out there.
Minor modification to My FZ -DIY.
1) Homemade HELMET LOCK!
- Get a Luggage lock Chain the kind that is sold for 20 / 30 Rupees on trains to lock Luggage.
- Get a Clip like the One on an Office Id Card Lanyards and Old Pajama or Jacket.
- Cut the chain to length; attach a ring and the Lanyard clip.
- Cut your Old Pajama or Jacket and create a sleeve jacket for the chain.
- Unlock the Rear Seat and you will see that Yamaha has already given grooves, pass the chain thru, clip under the seat
- Helmet Lock can be folded and Stored under the Seat.
-
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
2) MUD FLAP: Without Screws or Drills!
The front Mudguard is Quite small and the Front tire is a Big "Keechad Splasher"
- Bought a 20 Rupee TVS Rubber mud flap and an Araldite Adhesive Pack.
- Slightly Sandpaper the top end of the Rubber Mud flap and the Inside of the Front mudguard to create traction for the adhesive.
- Apply adhesive and Hold the Flap in place with Paper Clips. For added Pressure stuff in some cloth between the Tire and the Inside of the Mudguard.
- . Leave Overnight to dry. Take of the Clip and Cloth once Dry.
- These flaps have lasted 3000+ KMs in some very Heavy Rains in Bangalore! And going strong.

2. since the bike is short geared you have to do frequent shifting up to get the better pick up."when life throws you a curve, lean into it. "

Gear oil? Bike's don't have gear oil as different oil. Engine oil itself serves as all purpose oil.Originally posted by Leo_Vanquisher View Postget the gear oil changedThe real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

1. There is no gear oil in FZ .Originally posted by Leo_Vanquisher View Post1. for down shifting issue get the gear oil changed at next service it helps a lot to prevent gears from getting struck.

FZ uses engine oil as complete lubrication for gearbox as well as engine. Use stock grade , brand may vary according to your convenience . Avoid FS , they are not worth the money.
2. Keep bike above 3k and below 6k in normal commute. Dont upshift early , it will cause lugging the engine ( actually dog and gear shaft in GB get damaged. )

I too had the same issue of gear getting stuck while down shifting from third to second gear. So I mentioned it in my last service (Dec) and they fixed it now its shifting perfectly. I also rechecked the service bill they only changed oil+filter & did chain lubrication. So does that mean only engine oil needs to be changed for smoothening this issue? As my issue is not reoccurring now.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostGear oil? Bike's don't have gear oil as different oil. Loose chain, excessive dirt on chain-sprockets can also cause hard shifts apart from old engine oil.Originally posted by Leo_Vanquisher View PostOops sorry guys my mistake, I had upgraded from a dio I wasn't aware gear oil was not required in motor bikes. Re: Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0
Oh so old engine oil is the culprit. Coz I clean & lube chain every 1000~1500 kms.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostLoose chain, excessive dirt on chain-sprockets can also cause hard shifts apart from old engine oil."when life throws you a curve, lean into it. "
