Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
I own a Fazer v2.0 (Snowy).
The bike is doing great so far.
I had done Motoman break-in religiously for it.
Have covered over 6300 Kms to far on Odo. The tappets have become noisy so would be getting them adjusted soon (by completion on 10,000 kms).
Can someone let me know whats the gap value for intake & exhaust valve clearance (tappets) ??
The right side front fork has a minor leakage in the oil seal, not to the level of repairing yet.
Chain has become a bit looses, was not expecting it to happen so soon.
Fuel consumption - 47 - 52 kmpl
Top speed - 126 kmph (engine was redlining in top gear)
Engine revv limiter - 9.2k RPMs
The bike sounds great, except the additional tappet noise that has started.
All the juice is between 5000-8500 RPMs.
Can easily cruise at 80 - 90 kmph all day long even with pillion. And will also return 45-50 kmpl doing those speeds.
Very happy with the machine.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Replace the oil seal as soon as possible. Because the dirty oil and mud on the leaking area would make scratches on the fork. This can lead to the replacement of fork set which is costly.Originally posted by bobisbacktorock View PostI own a Fazer v2.0 (Snowy).

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Yes few people have suggested me the same, the thing is its not leaking at all now. It just leaked during a trip which had bad roads and the bike was new (leaked not more than 3 - 4 ml). Now the fork has no oil leftouts whatsoever. Still I will get it replaced soon. Thanks for your inputs.Originally posted by Nidin View PostReplace the oil seal as soon as possible. Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Earlier I too had the plan to use netted seat cover, but the people who was already using it prevented me . They are saying it will get dirty with lot of dust. (especially in Chennai). And one of my office employee had found some small insects/worms living under his netted seat cover. So take wise decision, And do a good bargain if you buying one. It is sold at RS 250-400 in different area/road side. Actually it's wholesale price is less than RS 150.Originally posted by praveen43 View PostCompleted 2000 kms today, From day 1 I'm facing issue with the seat.. Its too hard and when i drive 10 kms continuously I'm getting pain.
I tried adding cushion and doesn't work out, Will this be solved when i use netted seat cover? Your suggestions please..

The netted seat makes it a little bit more comfortable. The bum is cool because there is air that comes through it and no sweat issue.Originally posted by Nidin View PostEarlier I too had the plan to use netted seat cover, but the people who was already using it prevented me . But it attracts a lot of dust and dirt and leaves and insects and .... you get the drift. Its like fishing ...
Also it is very slippery ... so hard braking you will be sliding on to the tank even if you try to grip the tank hardWhen I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Yes even when i checked, price range was 200 - 280 RS. Even one of my colleague said about maintaining netted seat cover as when some bird shits , its tuf to clean completely(My apartment have too many pigeonsOriginally posted by Nidin View PostEarlier I too had the plan to use netted seat cover, but the people who was already using it prevented me . ). Confused because of this and thinking give a try.
Thanks Naveen for your inputs. Even a bit more comfortableness will be helpful for me as i'm getting severe pain in bum during my 20 kms travel in city.Originally posted by Naveen Vajja View PostThe netted seat makes it a little bit more comfortable. The mesh has different qualities. I got the one with higher density of weave. It is very comfortable. But again shit stays in there and I forgot about rain as well. The water will stay. Costed about 350 for the whole seat.Originally posted by praveen43 View PostYes even when i checked, price range was 200 - 280 RS. If you want more comfort ... get you seat remade at a proper seat maker.Or get those padded leather seat cover.
If you have someone coming from the US ... get the Airhawk type seats or the Gel seats would do too. But I find them to be too soft and hurt in the long run. When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
So today i got my third service done.
ODO reading: 4666 kms
Mileage: 48 kmpl - 50kmpl
Problems mentioned:
1) Sound from the front disc brake area ( the mechanic said he did greasing and after riding a few kms the sound is back.)
2) Gearbox issue, still unable to properly shift gears this usually happens shen i try to downshift from 3rd to 2nd, very annoying and disappointing from yamaha, My old tvs was better except the false neutral. (Continues the same behaviour after the service too)
3) Weird rattling sound from the rear, I think it's probably from the tailight assembly.(not fixed)
So basically the SVC did nothing except wash and oil change. If any fellow bhpians have faced these issues and got fixed, qny guidance would be helpful.
Other than these problems bike has been serving me well and the mileage in city is added advantage. The midrange of the bike is good, though I wish it had a bit more top end.My Machine -Yamaha Fzs V2
Tvs Apache rtr 160 sold (2010 - 2015)

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
I have done 3000km service recently.
My probs till now.. not any major but few small ones:
0) Most irritating is fuel meter. No idea when to put petrol without damaging FI system. No idea when it fluctuates or blinks.I think this
is big flop by yamaha.
1) sometimes gear change is smooth and some times its rough.
. 1<-N>2 is sometimes painful to change.
2) After fresh service, during drive the chain greece sprinkles on tyre rim and spoils it.you have to clean till few days as i care abt looks.
3) i felt back brake is not enough in traffic. Its painful to drive with right hand continuously on front brake as well.
4) the pickup power seems to diminish over time .may be mileage adjustment?
5) Bike starting used to be quick. Now battery goes low sometimes when in traffic stop u dont switchoff light.
This lead to 2-3 times click to start. But next time no prob. I guess if prob amplifies , we have to tell svc to charge battery.
Few tips:
1.If you fill premium petrol, engine sounds butter smooth and gives bit more mileage. If you can
afford always go premium. IOCL xtra premium or hp force.
2.Nitrogen filling in tyre always recommended .
I fill fresh once in 3 months(after every service) in HPCL COCO pumps for rs 20.
Refill once a month for free in IOCL COCO pumps as nitro free here.
Difference with ride is not so noticeable . Atleast the tyre rim edges will not rust due to nitro.
3.I wash bike once a week as roads are dusty in hyd.
Take a precaution no to switchon bike till bike is wet.As we have some electronic systems here.
I felt bike smooth after washing bike and cleaning fins as it impacts cooling i guess.Last edited by gopi_xbhp; 04-09-2016, 10:36 PM.Yamaha FZ 2.0 User Manual:
