Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
Hey buddy,Originally posted by yamahaFZFI View PostHello Guys,
Its been a year and more than 20K on the reader. it still runs as if its brand new - smooth engine, crisp gears and amazing acceleration.
The only concern is that it gets dirty very soon, as if its attracting dust particles. I have to wash the beast every other week. But then I also get compliments for new shining bike now and then.
Recently, I noticed some burnt oil or soot from the exhaust. Its is very sticky and I have to rub it really hard to remove.

What could be this thing? What is causing it?
PS: (off-topic) I am looking for contributors to my Google Tricks Blog, let me know if you are interested.
Even I noticed the same thing today on my silencer?
Did you found what is it and reason behind it?

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
I am assuming it is because of petrol I have been filling from particular station for last 3 months. I did not have this problem before and looks like residue is due to petrol adulteration. I have started using another petrol station, will let you know results in some time.Originally posted by yamaboy View PostHey buddy,

FZS FI VERS 2.0 Battery upgrade HELP HELP !!!
Hi bhpians,
I bought FZS fi ver 2.0 last after a lot of confusion. I am quite happy with the performance, except for the power drop - ahh !! not a big deal though...
!!!!
The stock osram headlight bulbs 35/35w is not bright enough for the city traffic, as I see morons ridin with High beams in bangalore.
To overcome the numb headlights, I replaced the stock one with philips 55/60w bulb for the headlight.
Problems started with the engine trouble indicator light going in succession for few seconds.
Later, got it checked with the Yamaha service center, they advised to replace with stock bulb.
The battery on new fxs fi ver 2.0 is just 4Ah compared to 5Ah on fzs ver 1. Damn !!!
The DAMN 4ah battery on ver 2.0 can't handle 55w bulb load and the battery life was degrading day by day.
After a span of 5-6 months on 55w battery, I had to move on to the stock one due to battery problems - Engine shutting down at lower rpms in slow moving traffic.
I am still not sure act the battery condition. Need to check the terminal voltage.
I had gone through a couple of posts in this forum regarding battery upgrade... but could not find any post on fzs ver 2.0.
My questions are :
1. Can I upgrade my stock battery (4AH) to HIGHER CAPACITY ones like 5Ah or 7AH.
2. Would the above upgrade void warranty.
3. As FZS ver 2.0 is ECU based engine with FI, I suspect there should nt be any problems in the circuitry as far as the battery voltage is rated 12v ??
4. Also, should I need a re-winding to support higher capacity battery for charging ?
5. Would you guys recommend HID kits rather than 55w bulbs ? if yes Why ?
Please pour in your suggestions experts.
Thanks in advance.

Self Start problem in Yamaha FZS-fi version 2.0
I brought a Yamaha Fzs-fi 7 months ago. Whenever i ride for 20-30 minutes continuously and stop and turn off the ignition, and if i try to start my engine using the self start button then and there the starter motor makes a strange sound like "khrr" "khrr" and the engine fails to start. But after 5-10 minutes if i try to start my engine again, it starts smoothly. I want to know where the problem occurs. Please help me out!

1. Yes, you can.Originally posted by Nikhil Sampath Kumar View Post1. Can I upgrade my stock battery (4AH) to HIGHER CAPACITY ones like 5Ah or 7AH.

2. Depends upon your rapport with the SVC.
3. No issues. Also, just a higher rated battery won't guarantee that the upgrade would work. A lot depends upon the alternator - if it is powerful enough to charge the battery and take extra load.
4. No, AFAIK FZ has DC circuitry.
5. HIDs won't help.
Approved and merged!Originally posted by mrinal_roy View PostI brought a Yamaha Fzs-fi 7 months ago. Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
today i got my bike for 4th service, i have no issues till now.everything is so smooth with this bike so far.
I observed a 'tik - tik - tik' sound after engine shut down ( 40Km ride from work to home). I have mentioned the same thing to the SVC guy today and inquired about it!
to my surprise he said ' its a sign of good engine health'!!! i was like really
Can some one suggest me if i can ignore this, i have heard it couple of times.. but again that never bothered me..
Live like you mean it, then get a bike!

Re: Yamaha FZ16 version 2.0
its a common phenomena in most automobiles (cars included) nothing bad. It happens on any vehicle driven for a long distance, the exhaust chamber, and other engine components undergo huge amount of thermal expansion during operation of bike which do not have time to cool down till you stop your bike completely and let it cool down.Originally posted by vedavyasa86 View Posttoday i got my bike for 4th service, i have no issues till now.everything is so smooth with this bike so far.

once bike cools down expanded elements in exhaust starts to shrink back one by one and make that "tik" sound. easily noticeable in a quite parking lot almost all bikes recently shut off can be heard doing tik-tik sound."when life throws you a curve, lean into it. "
