Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi All,
Suzuki Gixxer Rear Disc Model July 2016 model, 2nd hand bike, Owner for about 1.5 years
Kms ridden: 16500
Kms bought: 6300
Had one major accident where I was hit by a water tanker and have been facing a few issues
Issues being faced with possible reasons in brackets:
Straight line stability isn't as great as it used to be in my opinion. (Though the bike was insured, the ICICI Lombard thugs said no to the alloy wheel replacement which was slightly bent and I wasn't in a situation to fight it out, is that an issue ?)
Braking is a huge miss and can't even recognise my old bike (Brake pedal was bent and again ICICI Lombard said no to that)
Issue before the accident, the part of the engine from the base of the fins has been having oil leakage (Gasket leakage in all probability)
While braking, there is mild vibration because of the chain (Reduced by cleaning and oiling with the Motul packs)
Mileage on an average = 38-40 kmpl (Inspite of filling from company owned and company operated petrol pumps, is it because I am riding in peak traffic mostly ?)
Pick up also seems to be not the signature Gixxer across all revvs (Can't imagine why)
Gear shifting is a pain
Tyres dont seem to be giving me ample confidence while going on corners
Other details :
Engine oil: Using Shell 10W40 Synthetic/ Motul 10W40 Synthetic
Regular maintenance
Go to service centre: Whitefield Suzuki, Bangalore
Can someone have a look at the issues and let me know if my reasons are correct and if yes, a good capable mechanic who could help me solve these issues?
Regards,
RavenLast edited by Ravenragxxer; 10-29-2018, 04:11 PM.

1.yes bent alloys affect handling. also check if the forks are bend and also the coneset.Originally posted by Ravenragxxer View PostHi All, Suzuki Gixxer Rear Disc Model July 2016 model, 2nd hand bike, Owner for about 1.5 years Kms ridden: 16500 Kms bought: 6300 Had one major accident where I was hit by a water tanker and have been facing a few issues Issues being faced with possible reasons in brackets: Straight line stability isn't as great as it used to be in my opinion. 2.brakes- try replacing the brake fluid and bleed the brakes. if tis the front brakes thats giving poor feedback, like spongy lever after using the brake for sometime, its the psiton inside the master cylinder.you need to buy the mc repair kit, i faced that problem.
3.gasket it is.
4.no vibrations, may be unlubed chain.
5. peak traffic, yes mileage goes down.
6.check the afr of the carb and replace sparkplug, if you havent done so.
7.hard gear shift are a trademark of the gixxer
8.may be low air pressure?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
was facing a problem with the front brake, firstly the lever been spongy and front brake fading after using it for sometime. the lever would come all the way back and its like the front brake is not even there. the problem was that piston and things inside the master cylinder went bad. replaced them with new mc repair kit of pulsar 180, the reason being it is cheap 268rs and ours being 400rs. brakes for both are made by bybre so no big deal and also changed the front brake hose to a steel braided one. bought it from amazon as the blue colour 90cm was on offer. got it for 520rs (460rs for brake hose and 60 delivery charge).

Was it due to negligent in replacing old brake oil ?Originally posted by shadowrider View Postwas facing a problem with the front brake, firstly the lever been spongy and front brake fading after using it for sometime. the lever would come all the way back and its like the front brake is not even there. the problem was that piston and things inside the master cylinder went bad. replaced them with new mc repair kit of pulsar 180, the reason being it is cheap 268rs and ours being 400rs. brakes for both are made by bybre so no big deal and also changed the front brake hose to a steel braided one. bought it from amazon as the blue colour 90cm was on offer. got it for 520rs (460rs for brake hose and 60 delivery charge).
Also did anyone here find the replacement for rear brake pad as the pads itself costs whopping Rs 1100 as being of Nissin [emoji52][emoji52]Last edited by kuulbhaskar; 11-01-2018, 11:48 AM.

most probably because of not replacing the brake fluid. now everythings good. no more spongy lever and brake fade.Originally posted by kuulbhaskar View PostWas it due to negligent in replacing old brake oil ?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Yes i did with the help my very known mechanic where i bought the feeler guage myself and told the mechanic to adjust it to its standard clearance as i wasnt happy with the adjustmemt which the svc did as they did on warm engine. So, just remember to do it when the engine is cold other wise the adjustment wouldn't be correct.Originally posted by cbzee View PostDoes anyone here tried valve clearance adjustment by themselves ? I have seen the detailed procedure in a YouTube video but never tried.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Guys, what's the OTR price of Suzuki Gixxer Rear Disc Standard (Triton Blue) in your state? Here is currently Rs 92,048. It's way less than Pulsar 150, Hornet or even the FZ FI V2.[My Motorcycles]

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi, I just changed the chain sprocket set on my gixxy @ 16k on the odo, and now my engine kinda lugs while going @ low speeds in 2nd gear which was not the case earlier! Should I ask them to tighten the chain or any other solution?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Driving at full throttle with the engine at a low RPM because the transmission is in too high a gear is known as lugging your engine. ... But that also means it runs less efficiently, increases engine temperature, and can even cause issues with the engine's timingOriginally posted by Biker23 View PostHi, I just changed the chain sprocket set on my gixxy @ 16k on the odo, and now my engine kinda lugs while going @ low speeds in 2nd gear which was not the case earlier! So, your drive chain has nothing to do with engine lugging. Although on a general note, you should check the chain slack yourself. Your owner's manual states the slack range. For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE
