The dirt light enough to stick would do just that whereas the heavier ones would be flung off after every-time you lube the chain.
Ok. Have you tried used engine oil? How good it would be?

Engine oil is expensive, why would you use that to lube the chain?

I've used engine oil in past as I'd had some remaining after changing the car's oil, doesn't last as long as gear oil.

Engine oil are thinner and would not hold the chain links as gear oil does so while riding it would make a mess on the rear wheel rims.

Guys any idea on where to add spot beams and fog lamps to this bike in a way it doesn't hamper the looks?
This one looks like a decent job. It is not bulky atleast. Anyone tried?

"Anyone tried?" Hehehe yeah i did.
It was my first experience of seat mod.

For six months i had this kind of foam.
Its very light, spongy, and looses its shape after 15 mins. Spent Rs. 400 for this solution

Me and my friends ride with this spongy seat:-

Thanks for the reply. Adding on to this as Suzuki started ecstar R9000 fully synthetic oil, will it prolong the break in period, if yes by how much?
i read it some where on the thread that fully synthetic oil will increase the break in period, that's why the query. it was my mistake for not asking then which oil will they use for 1st service, as i read in the thread that its better to use mineral oil until 4000 km and as SVC used fully synthetic, what should be my precaution for the bike usage other than changing the oil as it changed at first service 400 km ago.

That is correct and it will increase by a considerable margin.

They should ask you what oil they should use. If they didnt, you can sue them. They will insist on R9K but ignore that and get R5K poured in upto 4k kms.

If it was me I would have told them to remove R9K and pour in R5K and refund the difference but you are quite late now. Ideally you would want to drain it and pour in mineral but if something wrong happens you are covered under warranty so, continue riding as your normally would.

i am facing the gear shift indicator problem. it work fine till 10 KM drive from start after that it shows N,2,3,4 fine but for 1st and 5th gears it will be blank. have anyone faced this is it due to hot engine causing malfunction of GP sensor? i try to change gears to 2 N -> 1 but it will never show. first i thought it was my gear shifting method is wrong then why could 2,3 and 4 work file, also 5 was also working previously but now it is also showing blank from 2 days. Please let me know if any one faced it and get it fixed

                        Hi,

How do guys decide that engine oil need to be changed visual inspection or engine sound or checking the viscosity of the oil?
as engine oil life depends on type(synth, semi-synth or mineral) and riding condition it is not an exact number from what i understand.
I see that it is min and max and color is turning to black after around 1000 km ride. i think it is too early for even mineral oil so just wanted to understand the basics

i change the oil according to recommendation like for mineral i change it by 2.5k which can be extended to 3k. Fully synthetic like ecstar and motul have changed it by 4.5k which can be extended till 5k.
Color doesnt matter what matters is the properties of engine oil though visually you cannot determine it. So your bike will itself give indications like burning smell or engine will be too rough than normal which means you need to change it asap.
Also you need to look out for oil level which is more important than all others

You change oil based on KMs covered and engine response.

Mineral oils have a service life upto 4000kms - A safe minimum for changing oil would be 3500kms
Synthetics have a service life upto 8000kms - A safe minimum for changing oil would be 6500kms

Yes, they give a small book similar to the owner's manual which includes all the details about the parts covered under warranty etc,.
