Anyone from Kerala here bought chain sprocket kit recently? Does it comes as a kit or shall we buy it as separate parts? I heard the showroom guys are only selling it as a kit.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
The front sprocket, rear sprocket and the chain, all have different part numbers. You can buy the whole kit if you want or you can buy individual parts. If the showroom is telling you they cant sell individual parts, then send a complain to suzuki.Originally posted by cbzee View PostAnyone from Kerala here bought chain sprocket kit recently? Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Seeking response from experienced riders.
I changed my rear stock Tyre (Odo read 26.k kms) with same make & specification and skipped front Tyre change as it had 5k kms of juice left. Odo now reads 31k and I'm on a hunt of new front Tyre which gives me better grips in day to day riding as well long trips to mountains and bad patches.
In recent trip to Sankri/Yamunotri/Chamba (done long touring before and faced similar situations) there were times, while applying front breaks, I was under-confident on surfaces with wet sand, sudden patches of broken road during hairpin bends & newly constructed roads which had fine gravels left carelessly (not complaining of hard work put by fellow countrymen in building these road).
Expansion of roads from Rishikesh under Char-Dham yojana threw some real riding test into play and patience as well which made my realize, 20%-25% extra grip from front wheels would give more composed handling, cornering and ditch undue risks of skidding or wheel-lock scare.
Suggestion welcome for:
- Similar price range, don't mind paying 20%-25% extra over MRF Tyre
- 20%-25% more grip then stock Tyre
- Softer compound may come with reduced life span, I'll go with safety
- My Gixxer only has front disc and I've to rely on them

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have a fi variant gixxer sf and when i compared it with my friend's carb variant i don't find much difference except a slight increase in throttle response and mileage on fi.Originally posted by ayrus View PostIs there any difference between FI and carb variants of the Gixxer??

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Yes there is, you get a more sharper and crispier throttle response, throttle blips are sharper as well so downshifting is more enjoyable. Theres no lag. Cold starts are not a hassle and if you are semi-performance oriented you can really hone your throttle control skills.Originally posted by ayrus View PostIs there any difference between FI and carb variants of the Gixxer??For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

- No fuel reserve knob on/off/reserve and choke, as it's Fi fuel pump based fueling. You can't/shouldn't run the bike till empty fuel tank.
- Bike will behave exactly same at all altitudes with fueling, no hiccups or gasping due to lack oxygen and running rich.
- Result being better combustion and slightly fuel efficient and more linear sharp power delivery as mentioned already.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have personally tried the 10w30 and 15w50 versions of the same 5100 Motul oil in my 155 naked gixxer 2017 model. I tried 10w30 during winter and 15w50 in summer. Both are good and smoother than the idemitsu one. Mileage didn't get affected by them. However, I do feel pickup of the bike had reduced a bit for 15w50.Originally posted by kuulbhaskar View Postjust found out that amazon is now selling Motul 5100 10w40 grade Engine oil . I personally did not find much difference as compared to Motul 7100 too.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Good to know someone has tried here earlier but for me when i used 20w50 it gave a lag in acceleration. So after that i have sticked to recommended grade i.e 10w40. Motul earlier didnt had 5100 10w40grade here in India but now they have given us and im eager to try it. Yes its true 7100 doesnt provide any difference on gixxer as being a 155cc bike.Originally posted by ZealousShumbh View PostI have personally tried the 10w30 and 15w50 versions of the same 5100 Motul oil in my 155 naked gixxer 2017 model. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi All
I am a proud owner of naked gixxer special edition 2017 model. (The one with the stupid AHO - Automatic Headlight On) I love my bike and want to keep it in tip-top condition. I have never missed a service and always try to keep it clean. I have clocked around 17k km.
I drive quite nicely. Change gears as soon as possible and try to bring the bike to 5th gear. Then normally ride 45-70Km/hr.
I am observing the following problems in my bike. Anyone, please help resolve them.- My headlight bulb has fused twice. Is it because of AHO or some battery related issue?
- The bike used to be very smooth when was new. It seems to not go above 100k/hr. Too much vibration and the engine feels resilient. Smoothness has also decreased.
- Sometimes, only sometimes, probably when my bike is dirty, it feels like tyres are touching the disks, most probably rear one. I rarely have heard choo choo noise too. But when I stand the bike on the main stand and rotate both the tyres, they seem to rotate normally. Have got this checked with 2-3 service centres and normal service shops, they say it is normal.
- I am seeing some rust formation near the gear peg.
- Paint has come off from front mudguard and handlebar near the keyhole.
- Seat. It's just a disaster. I want to add foming but do not want to remove the original colour. Is it possible? How much does a seat modification cost tentatively?
- Rear footrest (near the saree protector, attached near the rear tyre. Not the foot peg present at each side)seems very small. Service center guys said, they cannot change it. The bike will have with whatever it came with. Duh!! The local service guy said to weld extra iron to increase the size. Is that so?
- My left hand is now starting to get blackened after even a 5 min ride!
Since I will be buying a new headlight bulb, can I go ahead with Phillips Nighteye or can it also get fuse?

PS: I am from Pune. Anyone know about any good seat modifiers and service center?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Firstly i want to say that i'm also a proud owner of 2017 gixxer sf and by looking at the issues you facing you should have also mentioned ODO you have covered so far and whats the riding style you mostly prefer.Originally posted by ZealousShumbh View PostHi All

1. The stock bulbs are not good but if they cut out then you cant do anything other than fixing it with a new one. I think AHO here is to blame battery is nothing to do with it .
2. check your air filter, it might need replacement.
3. this was the problem which i too faced after covering 10k kms on my bike, its nothing but the disk pads get dirty due to prolong usage and they needs cleaning which can simply be done by pulling both diskpads out from the caliper and rub it on flat surface on sand paper of grit 100. Just dont forget that you shouldnt use rear disk when the pads are out or it might cause a problem if air gets into brake line. Or else ask the service centre guys to clean the pads .
4. its normal it will show signs of rust as you use your bike. What i do is I dont ride bike on rainy days which prevents my bike to get dirtly and rust
5. Paint used by suzuki is not satisfactory even to me as well, cant help it out .you can simply take out the front mudguard and handle bar and repaint it using spray cans they arent expensive.
6. even i hate the stock seat but i like the way it is . Simple adding foam wouldnt costs more than Rs 400.
7. If you are not satisfied with the ladies footrest then you are open to after market ones, you will find tonnes of them .
For the headlight i have added a switch to my aho model without any stripping made to the stock wiring and philips h4 xtreme vision 55/60w bulb(only use if you have added switch to your headlight or else you might end up burning your reflector). I think i was the first one to use Nighteye here in gixxer forum you can check it here or sf forum and it though gave enough visibility but it didnt last long so i would suggest dont go for nighteye or any any leds.Last edited by kuulbhaskar; 01-30-2019, 10:08 PM.
