Unfortunately yes. By engine leaks, the most prominent leak is on the left side where the stator wire exits out of the magneto cover. It's bizzare how Suzuki has managed to oversee this issue, with almost every Gixxer out there leaving a weep mark after riding the bike a little harder. There are cheap fix by applying sealants and they work. But other than that, some leaks are present on different Gixxers and some hold up. But most weep.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Good question. So once you have your bike serviced from an authorised SVC, you get the oil changed to an oil of your liking from outside after a few hundred kilometres (agreed that this is an expensive proposition). Then you run that oil till your next service. Which, when it is due you will get it done again from the authorised SVC. So all coupons are filled and at the same time you are running an oil of your choice without voiding the warranty.

Yeah even the SVC guy told me that its rare that a gixxie wont have this leak. Less that 10% of the gixxers they get for service does not have this fault. So with the extended warranty its a relief that if something was to go wrong atleast it would be covered under that. But the question is that whether it is recurring problem. So even after getting it fixed once, are there chances of this happening again?

My friend (who is not a xbhpian) never spotted a leak of oil anywhere (especially in that stator wire exit area) within the warranty period. He's out of warranty long ago, changed oil DIY, now the same leakage issue everybody facing occurs. Any specific reason?

Is there any proven permanent fix?

Yes use a Gasket Maker to seal off the rubber grommet and the adjacent wall between the magneto cover and crankcase shell.

Poor engineering by Suzuki. The easy solution is an easy DIY. Here you go.

Unless Suzuki has learned from its customer base and servicing schedule and complaints, it should be rectified. If not, you can experience this leak, and a fix is as easy.

                        Cheers!

I am not expert to tell you the performance depends upon engine oils. I have completed 3 full month on it but the mileage is only 2750 since the last oil change. Going to change to Ecstar R5000 tomorrow.
