Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hello guys,
Done with the first servicing. Now i can see that water is coming out of a small exhaust hole near the exhaust pipe bend. Is this normal or something is wrong??
I turned on the ignition and kept the bike running for a while. After a minute or two i saw that water droplets coming out and on turning the throttle the drops were increasing. Touched the fluid and it felt like water with smell of exhaust.
Any ideas on this??
Thanks!!

This is normal post a through bike wash. Just ensure that hole isn't clogged.Originally posted by Tushar Biswas View PostHello guys,

Did I over-rev and damage my GIXXER 155 during Break-In Period
I purchased my Gixxer 155 Naked Edition 4 days back.
My nearest big showroom, from where I purchased my Bike was 45 Km. away from my home. Driving back to my home I had to ride through National Highway where vehicles run very fast as you all know. And so, to avoid getting hit from behind, I had to maintain a certain speed.
During the trip i tried to keep the RPM of my bike between 4000-4500. But sometimes my RPM alert light stared glowing and stayed on for some time. Even though I thoroughly noticed that the RPM bar didn’t cross 4500 mark... Maybe it just hit 4500 RPM as the alert light got turned on.
I had to drive like that for like 14-18 Km... I was not driving in a steady speed or RPM as the alert light stopped glowing several times in between. I hardly drove 4-5 Km. stretch with steady 4500 RPM when the light was glowing constantly.
My question is, as the bike is new and the recommended RPM for Break-In Period is BELOW 4500 as per Manual Book, did I actually harm my bike or engine?
I must mention that after that trip my didn't run my bike over 4000 RPM.

Re: Did I over-rev and damage my GIXXER 155 during Break-In Period
No, its perfectly fine. As long as you were varying the speed. Dont have to stick to 4500 strictly. Occasional ups and downs are fine.Originally posted by Samanwoy View Post

Thank you for your reply. as I said earlierOriginally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostNo, its perfectly fine. As long as you were varying the speed. Dont have to stick to 4500 strictly. Occasional ups and downs are fine.Let me clarify this a bit elaborately. I wanted to mean is that I rode 14-18 Km in 4500 RPM while the alert light was blinking. But throughout this distance I was slowing down for a bit after every 4-5 Km of drag... like in that slowed-down period I was driving my bike at 3900-4000 RPM for some time, maybe for like 2-3 minutes, and then again was revving up to 4500 RPM.I had to drive like that for like 14-18 Km... This is how I completed that total distance.
So what you think? it was all fine and right that didn't damage my bike?

Re: Did I over-rev and damage my GIXXER 155 during Break-In Period
That shouldn't be an issue, mate. Until you are driving sane with gradual increase and decrease in velocity below 4.5k rmp or a slight above, this won't hurt your engine.Originally posted by Samanwoy View PostThank you for your reply. as I said earlier Let me clarify this a bit elaborately. Things to avoid during break-in
- drag race
- sudden acceleration and deceleration
- constant speed over 4.5 k rmp, gradual for short period of time is okay
I would suggest you keep gear shift as precise as you can. It takes time but helps better break-in.
Enjoy your ride and drive safe.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi folks
Need some help.
I bought a second hand Gixxer from Olx in Bangalore from Fraser Town.
The bike had done 6300 kms. And the condition was/isn't too bad.
In my first servicing I used Motul 15W50 engine oil and I am happy with the performance but not the mileage.
While I typically ride in quite heavy traffic but still I would have expected to obtain at least 40-45 kilometers to a liter, whereas, my average is currently about 31-32 kmpl.
Honestly I wasn't too satisfied with the quality of the service at Aryan Suzuki near Whitefield.
My queries :
Is the engine oil an issue ?
Can the mileage be improved ?
Does anyone know about any good places at Bangalore where I can have my baby serviced ? (Need not be an authorized Suzuki service center)
Looking forward to your replies. Thanks in advance.
Regards
Raven.

Answering your queries:
1. Engine oil: Recommended grade is 10w40. I will advice you to stick to it or 10w50.
2. Mileage: I get around 47 kmpl on highways and 40-42 kmpl in city. I'm sedated rider on highways and moderate in city condition. 31-32 kmpl is too low even if you are ripping the engine.
3. Service center: Discuss issues in length and build relationship, it will help in due course. I tip my service center guy and it helps.
Observation:
1. Run-in period is important phase of life, your's being a 2nd purchase, no definite conclusion can be drawn.
2. Check for Air pressure, Breaks, Air filter, Fuel quality (yes!), spark plugs
3. I hope you are calculating mileage by brim to brim method. It is more accurate
4. Riding habit - you are the best judge

Service centers are not emotive. You need to build relationship and sail through. If your concerns are not addressed by SVC, raise it to manufacturer. Suzuki folks are responsive as far my experience of 3 year ownership goes.Originally posted by Cool_vaidya View PostHi guys I'm planning to buy Gixxer SP, please suggest which SVC is good in Bangalore.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have good experience with a garage near RT Nagar. It's Sap Motorcycle Labs. I get my Pulsar 200NS and Yamaha fz16 serviced there. People are friendly and know about bikes for real.Originally posted by Ravenragxxer View PostDoes anyone know about any good places at Bangalore where I can have my baby serviced ? If you plan to go there, ask for Amar and you may also give my reference.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Completed 1080 kms from Gurgoan - Lucknow - Gurgaon this Diwali. The Agra - Lucknow express way has been beautifully laid out and is good showcase of road safety standards. The conveyances is yet to be installed, it should take them more 4-5 months to get it running. Ride report below:
KMs done: 1080 kms
Overall: 17600 kms
Mileage: 48 kmpl
Average speed: 75 kmph
Oil: Motul 10w40
Issues & maintenance : (a) Gasket leaked from Engine casing (b) Observed some oil on the head casing as well, needs inspection (c) Chain sprocket has wear-out tendencies, needs replacement for next big trip, should last 2k-3k kms on city riding conditions (d) Squeaking sound from read wheel and during front disc application, needs inspection (e) Spark plug inspection, due for change now (f) Fuel pump inspection, this is little confusing because RMP isn't stabilizing on morning starts and the bike shuts post throttle release. Same hiccups in initial throttle pinning
Some observations:
I'll try Motul 10W50 this time for better heat management, not that 10w40 isn't performing well
Need hazard light and spare support LED lights for winters, have to explore options (Amazon, Karol Bag)
Anyone from NCR will like to accompany for Silised Lake (Alwar) ride on any Sunday. I'm game, please PM for furtherance. If we have any Gixxer groups in NCR region, I'll like to add myself as well.

Hi ! I have not translated it yet - the free online doc translator gives a 10 MB limit for the pdf. One way is to convert the whole pdf into *tif format, copy the text using Microsoft Document Imaging (OCR) and use Google translate, but this is like touching your nose via the occiput.Originally posted by Angurj View PostHi Ashwanth, Can you let me know what translator to use? eternoMind , Can you please help us here - if you use some other method.Originally posted by eternoMind View PostThis post is because I read a couple of pages back about the Service Manual. I too had downloaded the Spanish one years back and sometime back, had it translated to English using an online tool. It worked well I must say. Only the images rendered in the translated copy might seem a bit fuzzy at the edges. But then again, that could just be me. You could always look up the original Spanish version for original HQ images.
