Any xxW-40 oil is thicker than a 30 grade oil and thinner than a 50 weight oil at 100 degree C. The number before W shows at what ambient temperature it is suitable for cold start. Here 10W means that it is suitable for cold starts up to minus 18 degree C and 20W means that up to 0 degree C.
In our country where the ambient temperature seldom reaches 0 degree C, the W number is not at all relevant.
Now the oil you are using is thinner than what is recommended by the manufacturer. So, replace it with any xxW-40 mineral, SS or synthetic oil. The semi synthetic or synthetic oil does not affect the proper running in of the bike if it is not yet over.
Buy the oil and oil filter and replace it yourself. Replace the oil filter as it is not sure the mechanic has replaced it while servicing.

Not only that, Its better to use your kicker during the early morning start to crank up. I do that for my classic, but what a workout it is

There is significant difference between Scooter and Motorcycle oil. Scooter oil should never be used in Motorcycle, since Motorcycle has wet clutch unlike scooter.

Scroll some pages back and somebody had posted pic of the oil can for Gixxer. Also, oil can be changed easily.

          Cheerz!!

Since the subject is about Engine oil, thinking of a 20W50 oil when next service is due.... This is because in Chennai, lower temperature hasn't gone below 20 degrees & highest temperature hovers around 40 + degrees mark.... I think 20W50 oil should be better for engine than 10W40 Motul oil by Suzuki...

Again thinking abt Motul Mineral Oil 20W50 grade.... Appreciate your inputs.....

Ya scooter oils generally JASO MB grade where as bike oils are MA,MA2. It will surely affect a new engine (chances of clutch slippage). So drain it immediately and fill a good quality 10w40 oil upto the recommended quantity. If oil filter is dirty change it too. Since it is a brand new bike i suggest not to mess it with studying to change oil yourself. Take it to a good mechanic and change it so you can see the procedure and can be done it by yourself next time.
                Good luck buddy...
Do not use semi synth or synthetic oils during run in period. It will eat oil seals. Go for mineral oil.

Check Suzuki's website, they should have the link or mail ID of customer care. Also, scan the bill and send it along with mail as a proof to what exactly you are saying.
Engine Oil capacity along with recommended grade will be mentioned in the Owner's Manual.

Most of us here are changing the engine oil ourselves and I hope we all are normal. No abnormality is noticed yet.
Go through the previous pages to locate the oil drain bolt. I think somebody has posted its picture. If not wait up to tomorrow. Use correct size socket spanners on the nuts and avoid over tightening.
Oil recommended for Gixxer is xxW-40 and the quantity is 850 ml and 950 ml if oil filter is replaced.

My bill. 446 only. Chain lubrication only costed 50 rs which is a great. Oil looks like 10w40 in the bill and i am from Delhi too.

Yes u can use motul mineral oil its a good mineral oil for runin . You can use 20w50 grade if u feel that the xW40 oil doest work well with your city temperature.

                                Guess what guys..
yesterday I made a complaint regarding that engine oil discrepancy carried out by Service Center.
Now today I woke up with a call from the same service center and they apologised about the same..
They took my address and sent 2 mechanics to my House and changed engine oil again to the recommended one..
                                i.e Suzuki Motul 10w40 gsx 150.
I am totally amazed about their swift response. Then they told me that they have received my complained from suzuki officials and that their Job is at risk.
So they gave me an email and and told me to fly a mail to that id that I am now satisfied with the service.
I am REALLY happy by their response and Thanks to Suzuki for the same.

And special thanks to all fellow members of this community who always help when needed and without whose advice it is difficult to maintain healthy condition of my Bike.

My chain is making HISS sound today after service yesterday..Is it due to chain cleaning yesterday??
