This is not baffling at all. Either theres air in teh brake line or entering the brake system from a leak or theres a fluid pressure build up due to excessive brake fluid is the reservoir heating up and expanding.

Tell him to get both teh front brakes and rear brakes checked properly at an SVC, for any leaks in the brake lines, proper fluid level and perform brake bleeding so that no air is trapped in there.

      Thanks for the information motoblizzard.

But won't air in the braking system lead to spongy braking rather than a total lock?

The pressure in the brake line increases causing a lock. 😀 I get your point now. Thanks again.

You are not wrong with the spongy brake feeling but that is when theres headroom in the reservoir. But if the reservoir is filled to the brim then when the air expands its building up excess pressure.

              • Suzuki Gixxer BS4 Fog Lights

I am planning of installing fog lights on my gixxer bs4 2017 variant. I was planning on choosing a combination of 2 all extreme 18W (10-30V) leds which are available at Amazon (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01MDR7ZMW/...i_yKsaAbVFM5Y0).
But when i went through various articles on the internet about the same, all of them express some concerns that this will cause a serious hit on the battery life as its has an aho as well.
Can you please advise if i can go ahead with installation of these lights and if not can you please suggest an alternative.

Using U7 Led Projector Fog Lights With Angel Eye Ring on my gixxer from past 6 months, still no battery drain issue here, everything is working fine, I always switch on these lights only when bike engine is running, not when bike is at ideal stand.

here is the link for U7 Led Projector Fog Lights With Angel Eye Ring & led lights installation video for your reference.

Thanks for the update brother. I believe you are still having the option to turn off stock headlight but i do not have that as its aho. Let's hope the battery can bear that extra load.

Guys I am confused between the single and dual disc variant.I will purchase the gixxer by the end of this month.
Five months back i met with an accident due to emergency braking and since then i have started hating bikes with dual discs.I feel ABS is a must for dual disc bikes.
Owners please share your views. Is the drum on gixxer too soft??

                        Hey man,
I think the drum brake variant of the Gixxer has been discontinued. You could opt for the Gixxer SF, which now has an ABS variant. Keep in mind that it is a single channel ABS, so the system only looks after the front brake.

The rear brake on the Gixxer is alright and does its job. (I own the drum variant). But you can still end up locking the rear wheel wheel with a comparatively weaker drum brake if you are not careful. In case of emergency, use both brakes and engine braking for optimal braking performance.

                        Hope this helps

You should hate yourself not the bike for the emergency braking accident. I am going to assume that you never attended a motorcycle training school, as a result you dont know how to perform Emergency braking. Also if you are braking using your rear brakes then you probably dont know how to use the brakes either. I am almost certain you dont know what the function of ABS is if you think it will prevent an accident in emergency braking.

There is no such thing as single disc and dual disc. Theres just drum variant and disc variant w.r.t. the rear wheel. The front wheel will always have a disc.

But heres my advice. First learn the basics of riding thoroughly.

Then, go for teh SF Carb variant with ABS.

[SF carb variant is the base model which gets ABS, all SF models are disc variants. Naked Gixxer does not get FI or ABS but it does have drum or disc variant]

                          Hope this helps.
                          Best Regards

My friend you have assumed a lot of things in your reply.Dont do that. xbhp is for helping out fellow bikers and not venting out your frustration.

You clearly understood what i meant by dual disc then why are you picking my words. And yes, there is a thing as dual disc. And front wheel does not always have a disc.

And I would be glad if you can find a motorcycle training school for me.Which school did you go to ??

Go and give your advice to grade 5 kids.

Rear disc brake variant does have the tendency of locking up easily than the drum variant on the gixxer. I'd suggest, you buy the dual disc variant and try and learn to use disc brake on the rear more diligently. It's a matter of getting used and practicing/learning the amount of pressure required for the required stopping power (bite/feedback) and so on.

                              Cheers

Dont get so sentimental, Theres a difference between sugarcoating things and venting frustration. If you cant make out the difference then thats too bad.

As far as my training school is concerned, I have an A2 license. Thats all you need to know. If you want a recommendation for a training school, come to Hyderabad and attend the weekend sessions by Motovation or RACE'ists. They will help you learn the basics of riding in a controlled and safe environment.

And No theres no such thing as dual disc. The front wheel will always have a disc brake unless ofc you are talking about a bike such as Suzuki Hayate or Bajaj Platina or Bajaj CT100 which you are not, isnt it? I thought you were looking to purchase a Suzuki Gixxer, correct?

Your irrelevant and uneducated response showed how ignorant you are, buts its Ok I can understand the accident must have left a deep impact within you. But feel free to take my advice on learning the basics of motorcycle riding. Even watching Youtube videos will be very helpful.

Also my best suggestion would definitely be to Opt for the Gixxer SF ABS version. However its single channel applied to the front brake, but thats what you need since in most situations you would be using Front brakes rather than the rear brakes.

As per your suggestion, I will definitely try my best giving my Advices to Grade 5 kids and above. I would say Grade 5 is around the nice and tender age for children to learn about Road Traffic Accidents and how they can take steps to prevent them both as a Pedestrian and as a Motorist.

                                Wish you all the best.
