BTW, I'm planning to get a LED headlight installed. NOT a full HID/projector setup, just a LED bulb in place of the stock headlight. AFAIK, the specifications should be 12v 35w. Has anyone done such a replacement? Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance.
Mine's a used bike so the previous owner changed it to white LEDs. Light years ahead than the stock bulbs. Don't know the model though. He said it costed around Rs.800. No heat ups too.

ravihpa : The stock headlight on the gixxer is a 12v 35w bulb. As long as you stick to this specification, there should not be any battery drain or heating.

StreetWeapon : Thanks for the information brother. I visited a few motorcycle parts stores here in Mumbai and they have a similar white LED headlight in stock for 750 rupees. The company is called BOSS and it comes with a one year warranty. I couldn't find any information on it online though.

hi. I would suggest dont go for LED lights. reflector of gixxer is not able to focus the light sharply on the road. In city or on village roads you will be delighted with the amount of illumination but on highways its bad. i have written a detailed review of headlights. check my previous replies. best would be xtreme vision plus by philips (55w). Dont worry about battery it will last around 3 years with 55w headlight (atleast mine did). or else you can try led along with two auxiliary fog lamps for better illumination. dont bank on LED headlight only currently i am using xtreme vision plus along with two fog lights (a little xtreme i agree ) . you can buy good led lights from aliexpress. look for lights with user rating more than 700-800. dont worry about their wattage even if it is more than 35. battery can handle it.

Thanx for your input but am pretty sure yours is a regular model. Our bikes will be AHO and so 55w bulb running 24/7, I don't know what impact it'll have on the battery.

I am from Chennai and got a brand new gixxer sf SP edition FI ABS on the 27th of october this year.
My first post in this forum was about my engine light staying on.
I still dont know what happened to the vehicle but the SVC gave it back to me without the light blinking.
I am a heavy user right now completed 3.6k kms on the odo.
I have a mileage on 54-56 on 60-80 driving pattern.
Right now I wanted to know a good SVC in Chennai whom i can entrust the bike to.
Have been going to SMK motors Porur these many days(first 2 services).
They are asking me to change my engine oil for every service as I am a heavy user(heavy but not rash) is it really necessary? I dont want to get fleeced by these people.
Thanks for your opinion.

Also in a totally unrelated question,
The headlight of the bike is pretty dim.
I was planning on changing to 60/65w H4 philips headlights(600 each) but I am worried about the battery draining off.
I can use LEDs but I am worried about blinding oncoming traffic(I know how it feels).
I asked my SVC about the possibility of adding a switch. But it apparently seems that the wiring diagram is different for the BSIII and BSIV models...
Should I entrust the adding of a switch to the local mechanic? or should I just run with the stock bulbs? or should I change to the higher version without thinking about the battery?
Your opinions again please...

Thank you

My Gixxer is just 2 months old and I have ridden just 500kms on it.
I have a issue.during cold start the bike doesnt start immediately. When I press self start the bike doesn't start and the speedo resets and gives the message 'go ready' as if I have turned my ignition on and off.
I had a embarrassing situation when I could not start my bike immediately when signal Turned green. Initially I thought there is no charge in battery due to my low running(my office is just 2kms one way).
But it happened again just after I drove for 60kms non stop.
Dear friends please guide me to fix the above issue.
My problem is exactly like this video

It is kind of sad to see there were many videos in youtube of Gixxers having the same issue - till people pitch in, you can read the comments of those videos - usually the answer would be there. Mostly the SVC should be aware of the problem if it is that common. Did you check the battery voltage with a multimeter? It should show 12.5+ volts, if not, it should be properly charged.

Are you able to kick start/push start it ?

Kick start has absolute no trouble at all. The exercise of fold footrest-kickstart-unfold footrest is very painful in traffic with horns blaring behind you

Yes, I can understand. See this https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcy...ml#post1023499

Could be faulty battery too - since your bike is new, I suggest you get it checked at SVC and avail warranty replacement - battery itself has warranty and they won't hesitate to replace it if faulty.

350ml for each fork. Replacing the seal is part of the fork oil change.

Workshop manual says 400 ml per leg (doesn't mention whether it is for completely dry forks or otherwise). I don't remember seeing a weight recommendation. Replace seals if they have it in the stores.

I was able to get 380ml precisely out of each fork, so filled in the same amount back. I used yamalube 10W fork oil costs around 190 for a 500ml pack.

Fork oil replacement doesn't require total dissambly of forks (parting fork leg, stanchion and springs). I didn't bother to replace those seals as they seemed unworn and no signs of seepage/leakage of oil yet after two years.

IMHO fork seals unless worn/leaks oil doesn't require replacement. Yes, frequent cleaning of those forks and periodic oil change proves to increase life of those forks seals considerably.

Cheers
