Gonna get final price quote for SF FI ABS today. How good is the FI variant? Any service issues?

Edit: Is this the right thread to talk about the SF FI ABS variant? Coz I do remember seeing another Gixxer thread.

IF you are talking about teh SF, head over to the SF thread. https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcy...ip-thread.html
Like I said before, the naked and the SF are not the same bikes despite what owners or other people might tell you. You cannot rely on a Naked Gixxer owner for details on an SF.

The only thing you have to remember about a Fuel Injection system is to never let the Fuel Pump run dry, meaning always keep atleast half your fuel tank full. As far as service is concerned, SVC mechanics are trained to clean out fuel injectors and pumps whenever needed/as per the schedule. (I havent seen the owners manual for the SF FI so I cant comment on FI service schedule)

        • Unicorn monoshock for Gixxer

          Dear all
Can I replace the Gixxer's rear shock with that from a Unicorn or Pulsar / Dominar? Anyone tried this. The Gixxer's shocks are too hard even on the softest setting.

Edit: Should I get a skid plate installed? Is it necessary? Want nothing but the best for my bike.
Yes definitely, the skid plate is needed.
It's gonna protect the engine and exhaust when the bike scrapes on speed breakers, but that only happens when there is a pillon riding with you (a healthy pillon )

So who changed to Ecstar FS Oil from Motul 7100 ? What changes have you noticed ? What's the drain period of the two oils ? Also which is best ? Any issues if I change from Motul to Ecstar ?

                  Dear fellow Gixxians,

First of all, thanks to all rider friends through which the forum thread is active & useful in sharing knowledge.

Myself, as a proud owner of Gixxer standard (black '16) wants to share my thoughts on SVC's that was mentioned in discussions.

                  SVC -
Be it on any brand, we cannot completely rely on them for all bike faults and on their service levels.

I accept the fact that some SVC's are too good, right from paying attention to customer queries, their needs and on bike service levels.

Yamaha & Honda are good comapanies and Suzuki is of no way lesser than it. One can understand this if came across its history.

All these japanese machines are well built, ensuring quality standards and reliability.

In india, yes, suzuki SVC's are slowly promising as its getting geared up on market shares with its highly successive model "GIXXER" and its technicians are slowly learning the skills.

We must admit that this will be the case with any experienced SVC's to grade up with its only recent successive model. So, please don't blame Suzuki SVC's for all things. And I am not a SVC person or technician though.

Long story short, Suzuki is a well known successful & reliable firm and we need to get our work done through its SVC's with little extra efforts, atleat for now. Let's hope it to emerge as big in future.

                  ------------------------------------------------

As far as my bike, I am really satisfied with my Gixxy on aspects of riding comfort on all terrains, mileage of 55 KMPL approx, power/pick up, throttle response and mainly on its overall stability.

                  ------------------------------------------------

*** Have a safer & enjoyable ride on this awesome Suzuki machine.. ***

So a friend of mine has a KTM Duke 200 (2016 variant). I used to ride it a lot. Never ridden it after buying my Gixxer. So I had to go run some errands and borrowed his bike. Returned home, took my Gixxer for a ride. I was really blown away of its smoothness. The Duke has no vibrations at all bit it is not so refined as the Gixxer. I'm proud of my Gixxy. No vibrations at all and it has such a refined engine.

P.S: He has an FZS-Fi too and I felt it's a little more refined than the Gixxer but not so fun to ride.

Best decision you can make for an entry level/beginner bike.

However if it were me, I would probably not get teh ABS version if your reflex/panic braking is very good.

The ABS is actually quite intrusive and for me its actually a deal breaker because it isnt better than my own 4 stage braking technique.

So I would say, test the brakes properly on a normal SF and on the ABS version and see what floats your boat.

Can you please share some more info about your braking technique in detail?
It would be quite helpful for novice rider like me.

Its a 4 stage braking, I will be making a video for it. As with any skill, you will need a lot of practice to make it muscle memory.

Just to be brief so that you get an idea. Understand the full range of the brake lever right from the actuation point to full lock and see how your bike behaves when you vary the brake lever in between those points at various speeds.

So for example at 40kmph, a 30% brake actuation will respond differently compared to at 70kmph. SO for 70kmph you will need to start from 50% brake actuation and then gradual reduce it to 30% if you want to stop in the same distance. This is all part of a normal braking pattern.

But in case of panic braking, this entire process HAS to get accelerated in an orderly fashion achieved only by muscle memory.

No professional here but thats how I do it.

+1 on that brother. Do share the link with us once the video is online. Braking technique is probably the most ignored aspect of riding. Here's a link that explains the basics:

BTW, I'm planning to get a LED headlight installed. NOT a full HID/projector setup, just a LED bulb in place of the stock headlight. AFAIK, the specifications should be 12v 35w. Has anyone done such a replacement? Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Even I am curious about this, but how does it work with our newer AHO models. Won't the LED burn out or screw up our batteries?
