I believe they are High Security Plates right? The RTO uses Snap locks for such plates so you have to take ur bike to them

That Gixxer is tampered. Meter tweaked. No way the tires wear out at those many kms. Tampered meter for sure.

You need experience, enough knowledge and a lot of patience while hunting for used bikes. You should be prepared to shell out money from your pocket for repairs too. Why not stretch the budget and buy a new one in EMI? its much wiser and safer than buying these bad bikes online. You maybe spending more money initially, but atleast you will save a lot of money down the line, which otherwise you would spend on these shitty bikes repairs.

Cant say much about Fazer. photos don't show anything. But expect it to be tampered too. Cuz, its tyre is changed and the number of km's shown is 9K odd. So, definitely a tampered bike.

Nice observations. Both of them are probably tampered (if it is easy to tamper the digital Odo). Another worse scenario is the bikes running for some 20-30k kms, been in an accident, owner changes speedo console along with other broken parts and runs another 9k before selling it.

              • Piston & Engine boring - Gixxer 155

Hi all... I've purchased Gixxer 155 two years ago and covered almost 24K Kms in Odo with 3 long trips [emoji16] (Chennai to Horsley Hills, Chennai to Yelagiri, and Chennai to Cuddalore). Bike is really amazing with its performance and I get 40-42 Kmpl.

Of late, I started hearing some noise from engine and taken my bike to SVC, where the mechanic has adjusted the timing chain with no improvement in engine noise. He suggested as to perform engine boring, piston, and timing chain change with quotation of around 10-12K [emoji22] [emoji22] .

I'm not sure if this could be the issue and within 24K Kms. Guys, pls provide your valuable suggestions on this.

PS - I have done my bike service at constant intervals all these years.

                  Some advantages of FI Engines:

                  1. Better throttle response
                  2. Linear power delivery and better output
                  3. Better fuel efficiency

I haven't owned any FI motorcycle, will not pass any judgment.

Yes, 24k on odo is very early for that procedure if your claim about maintenance is legit.

They will suggest you weirdest solutions to mint money. Avoid paying heed to such advises. Identify and locate good SVCs/Mechanics in your vicinity and get the issue sorted.

For the last 2000 Kms, the chain on Motorcycle has been going loose and causing multiple 'tak' 'tak' sounds. It sounded like one area was tight and one area was loose. I blame myself for not maintaining the chain regularly. I used to get it adjusted to tightened but that worked only for a few kilometers and the issue popped up. I replaced the Chain and sprocket assembly at 16K Kms and now the motorcycle is back to top shape. The read disk pads were also worn completely. Attached is the service cost and few pics if it will help anyone.

                        Hi everyone,

I am going to get my new Gixxer by the end of this month. The list of accessories has a tyre puncture solution worth Rs. 800 included (optional). Should I install it OR is it required after all? Will this affect the tyre performance, its age and ultimately the handling of bike? If anyone has installed it please share the experience.

Frequent chain loosening isn't cause of bad sprocket always. Wheel alignment and lubing it plays a role as well. It is dusty here in Gurgaon, I've to lube it in between 350 to 500 kms. Buy Motul/3M kit and brush, saves lot of costs.

'Tyre puncture solution'(?) - not sure what they are trying to sell you; I've done 15k kms and never had a puncture. Not saying will not have but aftermarket accessories are worthy as well. They cost around INR 200-300 and will require basic tools and expertise to fix a deflated tyres. I'll suggest you to get a skid plate rather which will be more effective and worth the investment.

                          Hope it helps, ride safe.

Hey, thanks for your input. I'll surely consider that. Also went through other sources online, saying it's not that helpful and also it might decrease the life of tyres. Definitely not going to do that.

Thanks and correct. Yes, I have the entire kit and have been using them on my motorcycle fleet. In this case, I went ahead and replaced the whole set to avoid brainstorming the problem. Since I spend a lot of time maintaining the Thunderbird .
