It's not necessary to follow exactly as per manual. Try to be below 4k rpm till 1000kms or first oil change and then gradually raise the rpm. The aim is to ensure that the engine is not strained with excessive loading. After first oil change, the bike can be taken upto 5.5-6k rpm but gradually. This is also to ensure the engine doesn't get too heated up. After third oil change, the bike can be used normally. Till then, it's going to test your patience to the limits.

It is a bit more tight than my expectation / liking. Does AS rear suspension have any setting to make it softer?

3) Idle vibrations: I did not see a lot of mention of this, but when i am in idle, I feel a side to side vibrations in the bike. it is very slow frequency but i can feel the bike sway horizontally. I had not felt this with my Pulsar 200 DTSi. Can other AS owners let me know if they feel some thing similar in their bikes too or not?

4) I feel the switch gear quality is for the most part ok. But indicators are not that great. It does not have the correct tactile feel, especially if you have golves, and the indicator on the console does not show the specific direction of the indicator.

I can live with tight set suspension, but if AS was meant to be a touring bike, then a softer suspension and a bit less rear set footpegs would have helped.

Cheers
Congrats @offtoppic. Well written review. I got my Black Pulsar AS200 on the 5th of May, from Popular Bajaj, 7th block, Jayanagar. I agree with you on all the points. I have covered around 800km till now. I had been on a road trip to Hunsur.

I bought AS200 from Kalyani Bajaj on 23rd April. I checked many showrooms but almost everyone was quoting 1-2 week delivery time. Kalyani Bajaj told me that they have one in black colour available, for other colours I have to wait for atleast 4-5 days. I didn't wanna wait therefore paid the full amount and got the delivery same day.

Observations till first service.
1. Engine is smooth till 4K and after that vibrations creeps in, not much but you can feel them. Due to run-in period I haven't drive it past $K RPMS's.
2. Gear ratio is short, therefore you have to constantly shift up and down in traffic.
3. Due to vibrations above 4K RPM fairing is making a little noise.
4 Gears are not as smooth.
5. Bike is nimble, not hard to maneuver in traffic, handling is good.
6. Headlight throw at lower beam is just okay, might be due to fact that my higher expectation from projector headlamp.

After first service:
Had first service at 575 KMs. Gears are smooth now. Also vibrations have decreased but sound from fairing above 5K RPM is still there, although it has reduced a bit. I complained about it to Bajaj ASS guys, they said they checked but didn't find any issues with fairing. I'm the sound will go on it's own once engine smoothes out further
@Raj_Kumar
My bike also had the same balance issue. But it sorted out after first service.

OTR Price in Bangalore : Rs. 109034
Congrats prashant.bhardwaj. Surprising that you were quoted 1-2 weeks waiting period. At popular, they told me that the bike was readily available, and I could take dellivery the day after full payment. I find black to be the best color for AS200.
I agree with you on the gear ratio. I find myself upshifting and downshifting a lot.
I did not find any viberations from the fairing till now. Bike feels well put together.
Yes, gears are not smooth, but improving.
Handling is very good. I do not find it hard to ride in Bangalore traffic.
Head light throw is really not that great in low beam. High beam, on the other hand is good.
I also find the bike veering to left if I let go of the handlebars.
Bike tries to start if I press the start button when engine is running!
I got the 1st service done at Auto Service, Banashankari. I did not report any issues, just wanted them to do the general stuff for now.
They have changed oil (Motul 7100), oil filter, lubricated the chain. Also, they have charged me for 3M wax polish.

As of now, I am loving the bike, the way the it rides, acclerates, brakes.

Because I asked only a few day after launch. Amba Bajaj people were clueless because they didn't get the stock at that time. Khivraj Bajaj told me to wait for 1 week as RTO formalities were still pending.

I think I need to take my bike to a different ASC since both Khivraj Bajaj at Marathalli and Kalyani Bajaj at Mekhri Circle were not able to rectify the problem. Kalyani's mechanic told me that he has tightened all the screws in the fairing and still I feel sound from fairing, he told me to rectify at 2nd service.

The big 1000km milestone is complete. I suppose I have to get the oil filter cleaned now? Or should I replace it? And do I change the oil too? If you guys could advice what exactly needs to be done, I'll get it done accordingly this Sunday.

The bike has smoothened considerably now. I'm revving above 5k more often now. Vibes are there in the 5k-6k rpm band (approximate), but otherwise it is a vibe-free experience. Touchwood, there hasn't been any issues so far, except for the fact that ALL my pillion riders so far have complained about the seat being too hard and too tall. I've ridden pillion too, and I too found the seat harder than the saddle.

There is a strange thing, though. Changing gears are always accompanied by a "click" sound. But sometimes, when I downshift, the gear does not click in place until I release the clutch a little bit. Its a habit I'm starting to get used to, but I hope it isn't a serious problem?

Change oil and oil filter both. Adjust chain slack if required, clean and lube the chain at intervals of 500kms.

Click sound when shifting gears?
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Is it just me or does anyone else also feels the AS200 has a SUV-ish gigantic turning radius!

Is it the same with NS200 as well ? Has anyone tried ?

Usually, any semi/full faired bike will have a large turning radius. Last two bikes I had were semi-faired and this one is fully-faired. All three had the largest turning radius of their time...

Also, heavier bikes have larger turning radius.

Yup NS200 also has gigantic turn radius. To cope with this try to lower your bike when turning, slowly as you get the perfect feeling how much you should bent, the turning radius you need would improve. Weight and height both are on up side which are not good per se.

My Previous 2 bikes were the CBR 250 and the P220, I still find this is much higher than the previous 2.

Thats what I am doing too, compensates a lil. however with a Pillion it is a load on the knee.

Went on a ride to BLR Airport Via Hoskote and returned via Budigere, awesome roads and awesome greenary!

Buddy, after CBR 250 and P220, what made you choose AS200? Could you please share, it would be interesting...

On a lighter note, is the next purchase going to be NS150?

Hahah.... No!

I did share that a few posts back, but here it is again.

Early this year around Jan, My CBR was 3 yrs old, and I wanted to upgrade, shortlisted the N650 and I got a buyer with a very good offer for the CBR. So, in the excitement of planning for the Ninja, sold it in a rush, but unfortunately later realized my calculations on the N650 funding weren't feasible. Plus my 4 yr old Liva would be crying for a replacement next year. Also, family (read:wife) was not very happy about me busting 6lacs on a bike, she wanted that money spent on a proper SUV instead. Which made sense because we travel a lot on 4 wheels. So then I was stuck without a bike, though we had a Ray at home it was too small for my height, and dragging the car out for every need was sickening. So few brave bike-less months later decided I need a bike, thinking back selling the CBR was a dumb idea! Well I have to live with it now.

Buying the AS200 : When I started looking for a bike did not want to spend much as it would defeat the purpose of cancelling the N650 purchase. So New CBR, RCs, Dukes, Baby Ninjas weren't considered. Used bikes were out of question, and it had to be a 200c or more, Dint like the naked NS. Thats when the AS and RS hit the showroom. Zeroed in on the RS, but later moved on the AS because 1. Primary need is city commute 2. Quarter fairing appeal to me more than full faired or naked ones. At 1Lac, felt the AS served the purpose, and its as close I could get to the CBRs performance with the least expense. Hence the AS200. It is not a choice I would have made if I still hadn't sold the CBR.

Hope that was interesting enough

I can totally relate to the story bro. With 500+ cc bike it is always the question of car vs bike; family vs individual; head vs heart. My Ninja 650 is in my bucket list too and I know it is going to be a long wait to reach there.

Hi all,

after a lot of wait and confusion booked a red AS200 today. Delivery is tomorrow.
Any thing i need to take care of while taking delivery?

It has Eurogrips. Any suggestions for good replacement tyres.
went to a local MRF dealer, he had front FX1 (not FY1 Rs 1800) and rear Revs-S (Rs 2800) in stock size. how are these?

hope to have a pleasant experience as this is going to be my first bike. (had an LML NV Spl scooter from 2001 to 2007).

EDIT: Any special care to be taken for running-in in the Hills?
