Hi fellow riders this is probably my first ever review as a customer on this forum. Since there is a lot of buzz about the recently launched DSK Benelli superbikes in India, I believe there are quite a few interested riders out there who are looking forward to a customer’s review or feedback about owning one of these Italian stallions.
I bought my beast on 5th May 2015, and I am a proud owner of the DSK Benelli TNT 600i.
So to start with, let me give you guys an in-depth and step by step review behind the term ‘PROUD OWNER’.

        SHOWROOM EXPERIENCE:

5th May 2015: You pick any showroom; when it comes to delivering a product to a customer, it usually has to be done in official timings; probably a delay of 2 to 3 hours is understood and manageable. However, that wasn’t the case, when I got my beast delivered. To begin with, thanks and kudos to the sales staff of DSK Benelli, Pune who have been so supportive, right from start to end. Since, the day we first went to the showroom to book our bike, we were treated with respect, and were provided with every information, including a test ride, as was requested by us. The ambience of the showroom is welcoming and so are the staffs, as they have this capability of treating you like friends and family, rather than just customers. We were glad to have made such a decision at that point of time, as we got the feeling of being part of a brand that treats customers like family.
My wife had been pre planning a surprise for me, this being the first superbike of my life. I don’t know how she managed to pull it off, but thanks to the sales team once again, for giving her the support required, to make this day one of the most memorable ever.
I was busy at work, when I got a call from her, saying that I have to come down to the showroom for some last minute paper work. I reached at around 10 PM that day due to work overload, and to my surprise, the entire team was waiting that long for me to come.
On my way inside, I saw this bike standing on the podium, draped in a golden satin cover and wrapped with a red ribbon. Completely unaware that its mine, I was pulled out by my wife after signing a couple of documents. And then BANG!!! She broke the news, and everyone screamed, SURPRISE!!! Tears of joy started pouring down and I was speechless and thankful to the entire team and my wife to have made this so special. Soon after I pulled off the cloth, we went ahead with the religious ceremony and headed off on our first ever superbike, the DSK Benelli TNT 600i!!!

        PRODUCT EXPERIENCE
With 700kms on the ODO, it’s been almost a month ever since. So here’s an insight on the product experience so far.

        Looks and Styling

One glance and you would be astonished by the sheer presence of the 600i on road. If you have been seeing the bike in pictures only, I would suggest you head down to the nearest DSK Benelli showroom and take a glimpse of the bike in flesh. Starting from the front, I have come across many who say that the headlamp could have been better on the motorcycle, but then it’s a personal opinion after all. For me, the bike creates an imagery of an angry gorilla waiting to charge at you, if you look at it from the front, thanks to the extended radiator shrouds that provide it with this intimidating look. Sitting on top of the headlamp is a crimson-lit instrument cluster that is easily legible, and comprises of an analogue tachometer and digital readouts like speedometer, fuel, temperature, odo and trip meters. The quality of switchgear provided is at par with the competition, while the grips feel premium and comfortable. The tear drop shaped mirrors too blend in with the overall design and are placed well enough to give a clear view of incoming traffic behind.
The beefy and neatly chiselled 15 litre tank gives the 600i a masculine look, with sensibly designed knee recesses that provide inner thigh support, while inspiring rider confidence around corners. Split seats on offer, feel plush and premium to touch, with good enough padding to cover long rides, be it rider or pillion, this I can say as I rode this bike to Goa and back, along with my wife, and to our surprise despite having an underseat exhaust, the pillion seat didn’t heat up at all, so this proves that the insulation is incredible.
What we also like the most about the 600i is the smart looking tail light, Gunmetal grey alloys and the combination of red steel trellis with black alloy frame. I own a black 600i, and the metallic shade is to die for. Overall, the 600i boasts of undoubtedly rich build quality and material.

        Engine and Performance

What powers this beast is a refined feeling, fuel-injected 600cc, in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 85Bhp of adrenaline pumping power, that is sure to put a big fat grin on your face, every time you wring that throttle open. Best part about the entire experience though is the exhaust note, which in every sense is sound of music to my ears. The power delivery is linear and the torque band kicks in at around 7000rpm, beyond which this Italian stallion transforms into an entirely different powerhouse. Mild vibrations kick in during this time, not that I am complaining thought, as it helps me connect with the bike and the power its pumping out. Some might find the clutch comparatively harder to other bikes in the market, but you need to understand that this is a cable operated clutch and softens on usage. The clutch on my bike is quite easy to pull in and engage the one-down five-up, six-speed gearbox that shifts gears seamlessly without a hiccup, propelling the rear wheel via a drive chain.

        Ride, Handling and Braking

The 600i uses a beautiful blend of steel trellis and alloy sub-frame, which apart from looking gorgeous enables good stability on road. The ergonomics are rider and pillion happy, sporty enough for canyon carving, while comfortable enough for long hauls. The 50mm forks upfront coupled with a rebound and tool free pre-load adjustable off-set rear monoshock takes care of the undulations and pot holes on road, with a breeze. Based on what road conditions or route you plan to take, all you need to do is switch the 28 stage adjustable preload setting to give you the ride quality you can only dream of, on other bikes. The motorcycle is slightly on the heavier side, so maneuvering in stop and go traffic could be a bit of a task, but once on the move you can charge into corners and out, like a track machine. This you can do with confidence, as the bike comes wrapped up with super sticky Pirelli tyres that provide flawless grip throughout. Bringing this Italian monster to rest is also quite easy as all you need to do is tap the reach adjustable front brake lever, which locks down onto the dual front disc brakes, while the rear brakes do feel a bit spongy and may take some time getting used to.

        Verdict

It’s undoubtedly an overall package for Indian superbike enthusiasts. The ergonomics are spot on, power delivery is just right for Indian roads(linear enough for people upgrading to a superbike for the first time, but manic enough when required, to get your adrenaline pumping), Suspensions are designed to take up the challenges thrown by the road conditions and has got the character and charm to turn heads where ever you go. It also performs supremely well, putting a big fat smile on your face under that helmet, and most important of all, a glorious sounding in-line four engine. What more could one ask for?
My first service is due soon, so will come back to give further inputs on the after sales service experience.

Ride Hard and Ride safe Guyz!!!

When I took the TD in CHennai in peak hour traffic, I didnt find the bike finching even a little. It was easy to ride in the traffic for me...I just had the bike with me for 20 odd mins and 15 min was in traffic and 5 min was on clear piece of road. The clutch was not that hard to handle. May be, If the timing in traffic gets more, definitely you may feel the heat from the motor.

That being said, it is an easy handling city street machine. IMO

Power delivery at lower revs is quite manageable. You have more than enough power to zoom away at the wring of the throttle. Frequent gear changes won't be required. 2nd gear is enough or even the 3rd gear. There is ample torque at lower rpms.

Well this is actually a media test ride bike. The same bike on which the Thank You ride was done. I had requested it for one weekend and another weekend after that not just for test ride, but also for a comprehensive review.

Thanks for the inputs. When do we see your entry in this ownership thread ?

This bike's reviews are making me inclined to go for it. My dad and sis aare also pushing me to buy this. The only things holding me back were - The chinese connection(Gone now), The after sales service(Seems good), the boring headlight and the low-end torque requirement(this too has cleared). The headlight is the only thorn but then looks are not the top priority.

I was waiting for the R3. Let's see how that turns out to be. If not then it will be the Benelli.
