It's 200 kms on the odo. Is it a good idea to change the engine oil now?
I sometimes take her to 75-80 for a second or two and then close the throttle to slow down to below 4500 rpm. I have done thus maybe 3-4 times. Is it going to hurt my engine?
If I change the number plate light DRL and turn indicators to LEDs will it void my warranty?
When slowing down I use front brake more then rear break. Is it a bad habit?
I have lots of questions in my mind which I am skipping for now as the post has already been very lengthy. Sorry for the wall of text.
    Thanks in advance.
    Hi Rajesh,

Congrats on your purchase. You own one of the best low end sport motorcycles in India, don't worry about it.

    1. Not necessary to change the oil now, considering you ride only in city. Wait till the first servicing.
    2. Taking her to higher RPMs now and then is good for engine. Just don't give sudden accelerations as advised by other riders.
    3. I advice not to go for any mods until 2500kms atleast. And yes if you change anything in the wiring, you might void the warranty.
    4. Most of the riders use front braking more, there's nothing wrong in it.

    Hope I help.
    Bhargav.

Both are good motorcycles for cruising.

Gixxer SF: Vibration free, good stability and ride quality but 155cc engine though performance is very good for a 150cc bike.

Avenger 220: Bigger engine so cruising at 90-100 should keep the engine more relaxed. More vibrations compared to Gixxer SF as per reports. Some people say that it has slight stability issue because of design flaw.

I have a few more questions

Is there any low sound buzzer for the turn indicators? I tend to switch and forget. I low sound buzzer will be helpful

When riding I do lots of gear shifting. Whenever I slow down I shift to lower and then shift back again to upper where most people just do that half clutch thing. I hate half clutch. My papa says you are too busy shifting gears then anything else. When i need to go slow for some distance I use second gear and try to avoid clutch. I know I do lots of gear shifts and lots of low gear riding where maybe upper gear and use of clutch is sufficient . As I am a new rider I want to know what is the proper habit.
Are there any link or website or reference for new riders that can help.
              Thanks in advance.

Thank you sir. Currently im using p200ns, had a plan to change it for a cruiser or any other tourer. Will it would be wise going down on 155cc gixxer sf?

Considering touring 150cc bike gives you a decent mileage, and Gixxer SF is great doing for long tours, there are people who took it for very long rides 1000kms> it is doing good. Check out previous posts on long rides in this Gixxer SF thread and Gixxer 155 thread, comments are positive for long rides in Gixxer SF.

But power and speed offered by 150cc engine will be less when compared to 200cc or 220cc bikes...

If you are satisfied with a 150cc engine and the power offered by it you can very well switch to 155cc Gixxer SF.

Had gone for a long ride (450km one way) just month and half after buying SF. Can cruise around 80-90 all day, no problems whatsoever. Engine heats up, but I was using stock engine oil that time. Just need a powerful headlamp for low light/night riding. Gave a decent 40-45 mileage on highways.

OT - talking about long rides, I'm planning on going to Bangalore this Friday night(6th). Taking the vellore krishnagiri route, is this route safe. Any one willing to join me are most welcome.[emoji5]

                          • Breaking in the gixxer sf and what vibrations are?

Ive seen the manual which clearly said till 800km keeping the rpm 4500max and till 1600 rpm 7000max,

But when you have such sporty bike and sometimes i get carried away like going till 7000 rpm and sometimes 9500 to over take a vehicle on highway.

So my question is does this effect my breaking in of my bike? its not i kept the throttle pinned for long, i usally ride on 3000rpm to 5000rpm which is like 35-70KM/h
so does it makes a huge deal? im worried that ive ruined my bike.

Now the vibration part when im accelerating i feel vibrations on handle bar, foot pegs and when im crossing 4000 rpm a lil short vibe burst at my butt , also my gears feel too stiff sometimes they get stuck (when i fail to change gear in proper way) it shows nothing on console in gear indicator, so this is a problem with all gixxer sf?
its not uncomfortable or anything but is this is what vibrations are called? because i can totaly live with this and this was one of the main reason why i didn't brought a as200/ns200/rtr 180abs so are these vibs are normal on my bike? however when i sit on my bike as a pillion rider i dont feel anything back there nothing like what i feel at front, pillion is ok but since im 6"3' my legs hurt foot pegs for pillion rider are on a bit higher side but my girlfriend doesnt has any issues with that since she is 5"10' also i noticed no matter what pillion with slide towards the rider itself seat has a sort of lean angle to it.

I would some love get help from the community since im a newbie before gixxer sf(nearly 20 days old) i rode a suzuki zeus 125 alloy disk edition it had a very reliable engine and it never disappointed me on power, yes it had vibs but i notice more on my new sf.

Rajesh, I'm glad you asked this question here. Note that what I state next is my subjective opinion, but one that is accepted by the best riders I've known.

There's simply no better to handle gearshifts than what you do. Sure, there are instances where the use of clutch would be preferred to downshifting, but I assure you, those instances are rare. The same goes with upshifts too. Here's an example: if you're at a high RPM for a certain speed, and see yourself heading downhill in the next section, instead of depressing the clutch for the entirety of the downhill section as I've seen a lot of riders do, just upshift and cruise down.

Try limiting the use of the clutch and the brakes, but never at the cost of safety in a tricky situation. For normal street riding though, let your gearshifts and smooth throttle action do most of the work for you.

Stick to what you're doing - you're on the right path to fine and elegant riding.

Thanks bro for the reply. Its very comforting knowing that I am doing the right way. Now I have another query.... If the engine rpm is same is the fuel consumption also constant irrespective of the gear or the clutch being pulled?
                                Thanks again
