Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Guys i need some help! My gearbox seemed to stall and the gear indicator on the speedo has gone blank quite frequently in the past week, this usually occurs when i need to slow down or stop quickly and have to shift down more than once without releasing the clutch.
The gear's lever doesn't move either up or down with the clutch pressed all the way, i have to release the clutch slightly and play around for it to set and tell me which gear i have finally landed on (this includes me at a standstill in the middle of traffic and playing with my gears since I'm not very experienced at riding a geared bike [emoji28] )
Any pointers on what i could do to fix this or work around it since ive read about this problem before on this thread?
My first service is on monday and ive done 760kms so far.

It was the clutch plate. the gears get stuck and the kick also does not work.
Only way to get around this is
A: stall the bike in gear and try to push the bike so that the rear wheel rotates and unhooks the gear/clutch etc
A.1: Do what you do.
B: Replace clutch plate.
I will wait for others to post their opinions as I may be wrong too.Hero Honda Splendor (June 2001- Present)

Happens on most bikes if you shift down gears in a hurry or together without releasing the clutch.. On my bike I release the clutch lever after every downshift.. Practice this technique along with throttle blipping while downshifting and you wont face any problem with gear lever getting stuck etc

For what city did you check the price on the website?Originally posted by rajeshbhuin View PostHi I want to buy this bike. The highest price mentioned for the SF in westbengal is 99,772 for the MotoGP edition and 98,054 for the normal ones.
Also keep in mind this price does not include any additional accessories or 1yr insurance or anything else.
Also the prices slightly differ from dealer to dealer. Just because on the website it says the price in your area is xyz, does not mean that it strictly has to be that price.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
blipping the throttle (many ppl call it rev matching) can eliminate jerks while downshifting if done correctly.. i don't know much about other benefits of this method of downshifting but as per my understanding it should cause less wear and tear on transmission system.. also it can help in stabilizing the bike in braking..Originally posted by benryu View PostAnd why do u have to do that? And this will be hard to do while shifting down quickly. Currently i follow engine braking.
watch videos about this on YouTube, it will help..

Thank you XypherGhost for you prompt reply. As you said the highest price for the non moto GP edition is 98,054 for any district in West Bengal, in my district it should be not more than that price. But you said that price does not include any insurance. Is it so? I thought on road price means it includes insurance. I am noob in this game. So please correct me if I am wrong.
I understand dealer to dealer price varies slightly and I am absolutely okay with that. But does it vary that much? (4200).
I don't want to be cheated. So I need your help and advice. So people please help me.Any one from west bengal can you please comment in this matter?
Thanks again.

Do one thing, get a Quote from your dealer and post a picture of that quote here. And as long as its an Official Suzuki dealer (not 3rd party dealers) you will be fine. They wont cheat you. Usually in the dealer showroom, there is a board somewhere on the wall that will show the current rate of all the bikes without any accessories or other things. Look for that. If its higher than what you saw on the Website, then question them and give them a chance to explain themselves if they have understood your concern.
All the best.
