Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread

Hi guys,

Its been 14000 km now on my SF. The bike now rides like a hot knife on butter.

As for the good parts:
1. The gears change has become smooth and i can now launch my bike with ease.
2. The suspensions have toned down and now dampen undulations better.
3. The new engine oil is better, but i still have to give motul another try. (i dont quite remember the name right now. It was something from "I" some Japanese name. Checked the reviews for it before i gave a thumbsup to the SVC.)
4. Havent calculated the actual mileage, but its quite decent for me. I fill her up every 10-11 days given my average daily run of 48-50 km.

As for the Cons:
1. The RVM's have gotten a tad loose and getting them tightened is headache as the SVC guys yet dont have the required pliers.
2. Sometimes when i launch the bike (i.e. with proper clutch ratios and throttle opening rations in mind and not hard upshits and full throttle openings) and the gear shift isnt perfect there are vibrations on the left side of the handle but nothing on the right side which is a bit weird.
3. Headlights need to be upgraded


P.S. If any one can help with how to get the RVM's tightened.

I have vibes issue but at right side of handlebar my left bar is like I don't even running the bike ... However I have clocked 300 kms and vibes reduced

Great to hear that bro!! Mine has just clocked 1200 on the odo!! The chain is making some noise I asked the SVC guys they said it will evade after clocking 5k kms! Have you came across this issue!!

No there is no noise as such from the chain. but after i got it lubed in the first service, its getting quite loose but thats not an issue as ill get that fixed.

But no issues as such with the chain.

(Actually speaking i do not try finding flaws in my bike i just love them the way they are and just make sure they get their share of maintenance and care .)

As for the allen keys, the screw under the RVM is not an allen key type. its a normal nut and bolt. but the grooves on the nut are different (Rounded and curved) due to which the normal tools dont fit on it. The SVC guy struggled for quite a time and i made sure that he tried every spanner. But no luck. im planning to go and put in a complain and try and get it replaced.

As for the vibes im still thinking its because of the engine, ill wait till i clock 4-5k km and then see if the issue persists.

And yes ill change the headlamps but rite now the store near me just has it in white and im strictly against using white headlamps as its a problem for oncoming vehicles. ill wait for the regular lamps to come in stock.

Its only HIDs without Projector creates problem for oncoming vehicles... not white halogen lights... Philips/Osram Yellow bulbs are available on Amazon with genuine sellers...

Went To Alibaug this Saturday for completing post 200 Km of first service on my SF, Must say It's build for long drive, the driving comfort & tyre grip to road is just awesome..

Hey Sagar Did you change your stock headlamp bulb ?? Which one ???

I am yet to change as the bulb i want to put is installed in my car... i have Philips H4 55/60W Crystal Vision... which is of 4700 kelvin. i would recommend to go for Philips H4 Diamond vision... its of 5000 Kelvin so it will have bright white light... which is excellent...

Will be going to Bhandardara this saturday... and should complete 800 kms by tomorrow so i can explore it till 7000rpm... excited!
