Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread

Engine oil won't make engine rough. Maybe you still need to give some more time for the engine to settle in since it's still very new.Originally posted by sagar.sutar View Postalright... why would engine oil make the engine rough...? i used the genuine suzuki motul oil... and changed with authorized service center... changed oil filter too..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Alright... i was wondering because the roughness progressed steadily right after the engine oil change... its only 60-70 kms after oil change though... so i will wait ...Originally posted by Pulsar220F View PostEngine oil won't make engine rough. Also chain lube may be the issue as i was thinking the same too... its rainy season and i haven't lubed the chain since i bought bike... its already more than 500kms.
Thank you very much for your suggestions[emoji4]

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
So I am in the final stages of buying the bike, & triton blue it is.
I have chosen the Kiran Suzuki Showroom at Goregaon for the purchase. After having read the previous posts, I figured that before registration I definitely need to inspect the bike that they allot and I have spoken to them about that. They have informed me a waiting period of 45 days max and the first preference goes to those who have made full payment. Now looking at the Ganeshotsav coming, I am afraid I'll anyway have to wait until it is over (fingers crossed).
Any recomendations or suggestions that could help? What should I essentially check and inspect, (Owners reply)??Last edited by shailendra.k; 08-31-2015, 01:18 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Is the engine oil used by SVC guys are Mineral , Semi Synthetic or fully synth. .... ? I read onother forums that mineral oil actually helps the rings and pistons bed in properly during the crucial run-in stage
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Ist and most important check whether bike has been used for Test Drive purpose or not ... this can be done by checking for scratches and mainly swirl marks on paint . Get the bike during day time when scratches are more visible and ask for replacement of that part if theres any . call the service guys and start with random questions about bike then end with some personal questions like name , where u reside etc and this will make very good relation with those who gonna do 1st and most imp service of your bikeOriginally posted by shailendra.k View PostSo I am in the final stages of buying the bike, & triton blue it is.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Are you referring to green strip across both tires in Blue Sf and Red Strip in Black and White Gixxer Sf ? .. Also how they ensure bike is used for TD or not ?Originally posted by sagar.sutar View PostI added some of my points in above PDI checks... note that this is a PDI checklist and not pre registration checklist... so some of the points are valid only while taking the delivery.

Right at the center of the rear tyre... there is line which flows throughout the surface of the tyre... its clearly visible if the tyre is new and bike is not used for test drive...Originally posted by Siddharth Mehra View PostAre you referring to green strip across both tires in Blue Sf and Red Strip in Black and White Gixxer Sf ? .. there is also a green/red line marked manually on new tyres to indicate the new/unused tire... You can visit any dealer and have a look around any new gixxer/gixxer sf... it should have that green/red line....

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi all.. Just want to share my experience here .. It's been more than 2months since I own the sf and enjoying every bit of it .. I have done around 2.5k km.
Around 3 months back me and my friend both decided to buy the r15 .. Then after the sf came I was captivated by the way it looked and took a test drive of both sf and r15 back to back and booked the sf .. My friend went ahead with the r15 .. Although the reviewers say they both are not comparable since they are from a different segment I would still like to compare them based on the power figures of both which is not too far off( I m aware of the difference in tech, r15 is much ahead in terms of that). On the first note gixxer is way more comfortable than than r15, has a better ride quality. In terms of smoothness I feel gixxer does a better job of dampening the vibes, my friend had some issues the fairing vibes on his r15, not too pronounced but on the sf its nil. Now coming to outright acceleration I don't feel the r15 is way ahead here. From 0 to 100 I think an experienced rider on the sf can match the r15 . of course r15 wins from there on because of its good top speed and an extra gear . one thing the r15 clearly wins on is the fit and finish . The panels just feel better. Now coming to maintainance, sf is way cheaper. My friends first free service costed him rs. 1200 and mine rs. 600. Also the sf is more agile in cities and also every bit as confident on the corners. Coming the the braking the r15 has better rear brakes(of course since its a disc) but I feel the front brake is better on the sf with good initial bite. So the ultimate question is whether the r15 is 40k worth the premium it charges? Let me know your thoughts on that.Last edited by Aniket Kuber; 09-01-2015, 01:08 PM.

- Perimeter frame
- Aluminum swing-arm, the design of which is unlike anything seen on any other Indian motorcycle
- Link-type mono suspension
- Rear disc brake
Adds lots of worth to R15 already
PS: Congratulations on your Gixxer SF. It is one of the best motorcycles in its segment. Happy miles

Totally agree to all you have mentioned which I have acknowledged in my post but does it translate on the road is my question ? Of course my friend black and grey r15 looks jaw dropping gorgeous .Originally posted by Satellite.kid View Post- Fuel Injection

I understand what you are getting at. Things are not always clear instantly, sometimes more time is required to be invested to know and understand things better.
Right now, you might feel that SF is nearer to the R15's capabilities. And it would be true in normal riding conditions that make the most part of our daily routine. However, the difference lies in the limit of the chassis and suspension. I would like to believe that R15 has higher limits in this regards, is more forgiving to the rider's mistakes and eventually allowing the rider to explore the capabilities of the wonderful chassis it is made with.
Gixxer SF will probably be not as forgiving, if you know what I mean. So basically, when the push comes to shove, R15 will show it's a superior package when ridden on the limit. Try it. Also, R15 is more track ready (it's best playground) than the SF.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road
