Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Unfortunately, there is no gang for SF or atleast im not part of it in chennai. I would gladly join any Gixxer or SF groups so we can go on long rides.Originally posted by Ashwin93 View PostIs there any gang in Chennai for gixxer / gixxer sf owners , so that we can plan for long rides?? If it already exists then I would like to join!! In it!!
P.S: I think there is atleast one Gixxer (not SF) group for chennai, but i think we have to post it on the other "Gixxer:Ownership thread"

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I have a sincere request to everyone reading this. Please do not say Projector "or" HID. It should be Projector "and" HID. Do take into consideration the fact that you are blinding the oncoming traffic by installing HID without projectors. Also, LED bulbs also blind oncoming traffic since the reflector headlamp is designed just for a regular halogen bulb.Originally posted by Ashwin93 View PostHi I've changed my headlamp in gp road shop name is hardeep motorworks I've got Phillips led bulb for Rs.650 you can also upgrade for projectors or hid!!
I have had an accident while riding my Karizma in 2005 when a TATA Safari blinded me with multiple HIDs. I went straight into a cow crossing the road.
Luckily I had slowed down as soon as I realized that I am being blinded by the lighting system of oncoming vehicle.

Thanks.. another quick questions. If a bike only has push button start feature and its battery is not working fine or not giving enough power. How can that bike be started if you are stranded in a remote location or stuck during wee hours.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Both the naked and Fared versions of the bike have a kick start.Originally posted by anandfbd View PostI am planning to buy Gixxer but utterly confused between naked and fairing. Can someone confirm if gixxer SF has kick start or it can only start with push button?
As to help you decide, there is no difference in the two siblings, they are identical on paper in terms of performance. In terms of city and regular commuting, both are almost the same. The faring adds good control to the bike but u need to get a hang of the machine before you can squeeze it through gaps with utmost confidence. While the naked is just like other bikes and you dont need getting used to it.
Both the bike are great machines, what you need to decide is that is it convenient for you to splash some extra cash on the faring. If you are a fan of the full fared bikes you'll opt for the SF and if you think the extra cash is not worth it you can go for the naked sibling.
You surely wont regret buying any of the bikes, the only difference is that on the SF you'll turn a lot of head.
Which you choose is up to you.

Simple just switch the gear to 1st and jump start it , it will work , i.e.move the bike to a certain speed and leave the clutch the bike will start ensure you put the bike in the 1st gearOriginally posted by anandfbd View PostThanks.. another quick questions. Thanks Buddy!! You just diluted my confusion. My Head points me to go for naked gixxy but heart and specially my wife wants the fairing. So I know i am going with SF now.. Thanks a bunch for your quick response.Originally posted by Pelasgain View PostBoth the naked and Fared versions of the bike have a kick start.

In such a situation you need to jump start the bike.Originally posted by anandfbd View PostThanks.. another quick questions. Put the bike in 1st gear, hold on to the clutch and run along with it for 100m or so.
Once you have enough momentum, release the clutch and open the throttle, when you feel the engine kick in, hold the clutch again and rev the bike so as to warm the engine.
P.S
Always be careful while jumpstarting the bike, while you run along with it and you suddenly release the clutch and the bike does not start, you may continue with you forward momentum, but your bike may not and it may lead to injuries to you and the bike as well if you know what i mean.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I would be buying it from Bitto Bike wala in Okhla or Lajpat nagar (South Delhi). Any fellow mate who can share their experience with this dealer or tactics to get better discount or offer in hand. Just to let you know that I am little clumsy when it comes to bargaining or negotiations and I surrender very soon while doing one. Any tip or help is welcome.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi guys,
Its been 14000 km now on my SF. The bike now rides like a hot knife on butter.
As for the good parts:
1. The gears change has become smooth and i can now launch my bike with ease.
2. The suspensions have toned down and now dampen undulations better.
3. The new engine oil is better, but i still have to give motul another try. (i dont quite remember the name right now. It was something from "I" some Japanese name. Checked the reviews for it before i gave a thumbsup to the SVC.)
4. Havent calculated the actual mileage, but its quite decent for me. I fill her up every 10-11 days given my average daily run of 48-50 km.
As for the Cons:
1. The RVM's have gotten a tad loose and getting them tightened is headache as the SVC guys yet dont have the required pliers.
2. Sometimes when i launch the bike (i.e. with proper clutch ratios and throttle opening rations in mind and not hard upshits and full throttle openings) and the gear shift isnt perfect there are vibrations on the left side of the handle but nothing on the right side which is a bit weird.
3. Headlights need to be upgraded
P.S. If any one can help with how to get the RVM's tightened.
