    Hey guys.

I just got back from an awfully shortened after-dark ride thanks to mechanical glitches. I noticed something strange when I cold-started the bike with the choke pulled in: it kept turning off unless I used the throttle to keep the RPMs above 1000. It stalled when I rapidly downshifted downhill at a pothole, then again at a speedbreaker in similar fashion. It also turned off at signals a few seconds after I eased the throttle.

I then felt a very jerky and pulsing fuel delivery for a little distance. I tried adjusting the idling screw but got awfully inconsistent results - it would either not do a thing, or make the RPMs go haywire. I'd rev to 5000 and let it drop, and the results were varied each time I adjusted the screw - sometimes the RPMs would drop right back to <1000 on idling, or stay at 3000+ for way longer than it should, or even drop to 1500 and then slowly increase to 3000+ by itself until I intervened by hastily turning the screw clock-wise to drop the RPMs again.

I spent some time with the manual under a steetlamp, then increased the play on the throttle fearing that's the problem. Doing that improved the consistency of the idling screw adjustments, but the problem was far from solved. At the next signal, when standstill, the RPMs started going up by themselves again - I quelled them using the screw.

The ride back home was very pleasant with no sudden increase or RPM. THe pulsing wasn't as evident anymore. But during the last stretch (I might have imagined this), I heard a minor sound each time I added some throttle input. Maybe I was just paranoid by this time and was looking for signs of things that might be wrong, or maybe the new sound did start when I started noticing it.

Whatever the case, the bike is back in the garage. It appears to be a minor issue. I've planned a visit to the SVC or my mech early tomorrow. I'll post an update on how things go from there.

What was the odo reading when you got your bike?asking because you got your bike in a dayand usually they tend to push out test drive units in the sane fashion
Are you sure that it was not used as a test drive vehicle?

Its all the same, in regards to mechanical. So performance and mileage are same.

Only comfort will be less windblast and less fatigue on long tours.

The Motogp edition looks damn gorgeous.

          Cheers,
          Sanjay

Unlikely. The bike felt and looked new, with green grease on the chain and no inconsistent dust deposition. They also don't offer SFs for test rides, so there's that. The odo read 1km.

A little googling got me to "splits in the inlet manifold" as a potential cause for such problems. I'll be getting it checked out later today.

            ...

I took it out on a ride again today, but not before I tried identifying the problem myself. On trying to unscrew the right panel, I discovered the cause for the vibrations - one of the screws wasn't in the hole (red circle). I couldn't unscrew the big screw under the seat, but it still gave me enough room to watch the idling screw and throttle cable at work.

From my observation, the problem could be some friction somewhere along the throttle cable - when revved high, it refuses to fall back in place completely at times. Not unheard of; just unnerving. It shouldn't be hard to fix though.

Throttle problem aside, the bike feels so good! I love how it leans to the sides with minimal effort, like an aircraft on wheels!

P.S. Green circles are screws that need to be undone to remove the side panel. Red circle is the screw which wasn't fastened right. And yellow circle is where the idling screw is located.

Yes, even i have experienced the idle shut off too once. I read it somewhere in the Gixxer forums that this does happen and is normal.
Also once i was in third gear and cruising at 30km/hr, then a sudden appearance of a pot hole out of no where made me brake hard and thus the engine stopped too before i could downshift. But this happened only the first time (it was my first ride, was travelling back home from SVC), hasn't occurred again.
I'm hating the fact that i got the delivery during rainy season now (But it being a Gixxer i have no regrets!)

Awaiting your post after you visit the SVC.

I didn't ask for one. Then again, I didn't ask or pay for the saree guard or the mudguard-extension either.

I guess those are on the house from dealers (or that is what they are claiming)

My dealer told me that the accessories on the house would be a seat cover, buzzer for indicator & a saree guard I guess.

Waiting for those last few hours now....

I figured it out while starting it today. Idiot that I am, I had left the choke partially depressed.

A little more meddling with the cable tension solved it completely.

So for the third time I gave my bike to Meghdoot Suzuki, Hennur Road, Bangalore to fix the hard gears/gear downshift problem and to fix the weak front and back brake issues.

Went to pick up the bike in the evening and after a short trial the issues seemed to be better. Didn't have much time so didn't do an extensive test. While making the exit formalities noticed a HUGE crack on the right front fairing! As though someone had hit it with a hammer or the bike had fallen sideways.

Showed it to SVC head and he denied responsibility saying it was like this when I came in with the bike.

Asked him why he didn't report it in the SVC sheet while taking the bike if this crack was there in the beginning to which he didn't have an answer. HE kept on saying that there are cameras around and if it had fallen it would've been captured in it. I countered by saying that I gave a scratches bike and you are returning me with a cracked one.

Finally threatened to write a mail to Suzuki if they dont fix it and they finally gave way. Said no parts are available, so I told them to get the bike fixed by Tuesday latest, else I'll talk to Suzuki myself.

Guys, be very careful while giving bikes to SVC. They'll try to pass off any damage as your fault.

Have left the bike with them at the SVC itself. Lets see if there are any further complications.

FYI the price of the right side fairing(where the UKI snickering is done) is for Rs700.

Hi, saree guard , side stand , center stand and mirrors are default accessories, other than these all are optional accessories like saree guard foot rest, indicator buzzer etc., Its your wish you can take or leave it . Dealers can't force you. Hope this helps.
