    Local shop
Please do not be skeptical about doing jobs at local mechs
You can ask and know the problems.
There is no need to drag the bike to svc all the time

If it's(average ride per start) below 30 kms I would even switch to 10w30 grade. Then again not to forget finer oil constituents of fully-synths seeping through crankcase-gasket.
Besides, gixxer is city commuter; with no over-gear it's a stressed tourer.

my ride is of 15km per start minimum. i did not say the things i did based on facts. i drove the bike over a full tank and its given me more mileage. Also tappit noise has gone down significantly. I ride in hilly areas so i need to push it quite hard since it lacks power in the <5k rpm range.

As you said its a stressed tourer, but i really havent felt it after switching to this oil. it can do 70-80 kph easily for more than an a couple of hours, while carrying pillion.

i had tried the 10W40 oil before this.

Also, 20W50 's viscosity is high only under 10C and its india and days in pune even in the winter hit 25C, so the bike does warm up easily.

as for the gasket thing, i am pretty sure they use silicone sealant type gasket in ours, i noticed it oozed out of the crankcase while detailing the bike.

overall, if it wasnt really suitable for me, the first thing i would have noticed is a drop in economy. which i didnt. But i must say i was skeptical about putting this in as well. But just had to try out a thicker oil for the tappit thing and also cooling since this oil has a higher thermal capacity.

A friend is interested in getting a new bike who is in chennai, he asked me a couple to questions. I just need advise from yo guys.

1.) He would like to know whether we will be able to fit R15 fairing on suzuki gixxer or gixxer sf. If not, also suggest any other fairing or front doom light can be modified/fit on gixxer/gixxer sf. What will be the mileage of sf rear disk variant. As he is not okay with the sf front doom

2.) What will be mileage of the bike after one year

3.) Has anyone tried fitting ABS to gixxer/sf. If so what will be cost of fitting of ABS on both the wheels.

4.) I also have a plan to buy normal gixxer, since it gives more mileage than sf. So can i fit sf fariing to the naked bike,. So what is the cost and will the mileage get decreased if I fit on a fariring.

Thanks in advance for your advise.
            1. No. Not possible.
            2. Depends on conditions and way of riding. Generally all 150cc motorcycles give between 40-45kmpl easily.
            3. Not possible at all. I needs many components and i don't think suzuki offers abs on their smaller capacity motorcycles in India.
            4. The normal gixxer is only 4kgs lighter than sf. There is no profound gains in mileage or performance.
Few dealers do fit the fairing for extra 15-20k. Shouldn't decrease mileage.

you can buy the gixxer sf for cheaper than buying the farings and fitting it on the gixxer. Dealers dont do that since parts are quite different in respect to electrical mountings and etc(fairing means less work since you can hide wires behind)

ABS is not possible without very extensive modifications. ABS is completely electronic but you can get after market systems for other bikes abroad. Not sure if they will fit on a gixxer.

You dont need ABS in day to day, the front brakes dont lock up very easily, and the tyres are pretty nice(this is why stoppies are possible on this bike) in wet or slippy conditions just ride slower @ 50/60kph max

I am following xBhp gixxer sf thread from past 2 months for my queries as i was going to buy this bike.
I bought the bike on 19th may (Blue double disc variant).
Its my 1st free service today and the service person is asking 440rs for oil (idematsu oil) , 150rs chain lubrication and 35 rs consumable charges
is the price legitimate? or are they charging me extra on oil? and i thought chain lubrication should be part of free service...

And as per my experience on the bike it is ultra smooth with no vibration at all and it gives my approx. mileage of 55kmpl (i.e even before 1st service).
and i hope it doesn't diminish after free service :P
And i know you people will ask how do i ride my bike that it gives this much mileage, so here it goes
40km daily commute (17km city traffic and rest on highway)
I never go above 4-4.5k rpm and i use throttle smoothly i.e no sudden acceleration's
and i almost never use brakes as because i judge that if i have to stop later i release the throttle instead.
and i vary the rpm in 3k to 4k on highway's and speed never above 60.

P.s i am not driving like a granny or very slow, i am driving at quite normal speed . :P

Free service means, you will not be charged for Labor work. Everything else will be charged.

Breakin period requires you to stay under 4k rpm till 500kms, then increase RPM to 6-7k for next 500kms. Naturally for the first 500kms you will get good fuel mileage. However for the next 500kms you will observe a drop in fuel mileage which is to be expected as you will be riding at higher RPMs.

how are you measuring fuel efficiency? 55kmpl is quite high specially if you are riding below 4K RPM. After 2nd service you will see that the bike doesnt really make power below 6K RPM, so changing at 6K is what gives best efficiency for me.

after 1600kms you can do 80kph constant on the highways. This bike can actually do 90-95 constant cruise easy for 1- 2 hrs.

I went to the Suzuki mechanic he's saying its the chain noise that will come. But the noise is too loud to bear even with the helmet .Also my rear disc pad is touching a little with the disc .Again mechanic is saying that it will wear off in some time. It happens in new bike. In dehradun only 1 showroom is there from where I got the bike .They aren't listening to the problem .Can anyone tell me about the noises at 4th &5th gear & about the brakes . Should I contact the company .

My Suzuki Gixxer SF went for service a week ago. Apparently they use some sort of "polish" to polish the bike and the front disk has been polished too; which translates to poor braking at the front. How do I fix this. 1 week has passed and I can feel the disk slip under hard braking.

Apple auto, in Bangalore, is quite poor at servicing. Any others around Bannarghatta Road?

                                Thanks
