I guess, probably you are the only one.

At least for warranty purposes people complete their services (free and paid) at the authorised svcs.

Been involved in some sort of trips activity
The bike is performing is well enough for 70-90 kmph cruising speed throughout the highways.
Recently did a 160 km ride
(i know its a puny number not worthy of being trip but none the less someone has to start somewhere right?)
While returning i discovered somesort of rattling noise is coming from the engine
I stood by the svc while returning and they told the timing chain and the adjuster is on their last threads
But the mechanic who has been like a family friend adjacent to my house told me nothing is wrong with the engine and the sound is coming from the exhaust
Im in a dilemma what to do?
I'll try to simplify the problems

1.ratting noise after some 50-60 km
2.after cold start it seems someone is dragging your bike from the rear end
It goes away after 2-3 km

Can anyone help me with the problems?
Others are telling me its nothing major and it can be rectified on the next service but i am too much skeptical about my bike
And yes my bike is over a year old and i have done all the services and runned in my bike according to the norms and i take good care of her
Now running on the idemitsu ss oil

It would be helpful if someone guides me

And moreover i have a 400 km trip next month
(Still its a meagre number compared to what the pros have done don't laugh please)
Would someone please tell me how much time can i cruise at a time at 70-80 without killing the bike before i take a break?
I know its a silly question but I'm new to this genre and couldn't find anywhere else other than xbhp to ask the questions anyway it would be helpful if someone guides me what should one do in these kinds of trips
The bike is great for long distance highway riding. I recently did a ~2000km trip from Pune to Bangalore and back, and got to know a lot about the bike's characteristics.

      1. The bike loves highways. ~95kph is the sweet spot for the bike. It will keep on going even after 2 hours of non-stop riding at that speed.
      2. Many people have concerns about engine temperature issues while long distance riding considering the fact that this is a barebones carburettor engine. I observed no heating issues whatsoever. The fairing does a very good job at providing fresh air to the engine, and venting out the hot air. 10/10 in that category.
      3. Rattling issues: none. Never had them, and still don't have 'em.
      4. AFAIK there are cold start issues for every internal combustion engine ever made. The engine has to come up to the desired temperature to operate at full efficiency.
      5. Rider comfort: AMAZING. No back pain, shoulder pain or wrist pain. Only issue is that butt cheeks start to hurt after ~~500km, but that is to be expected. Otherwise a very comfortable bike.
      6. Decent power: Although for such long distance touring one would prefer 250cc bikes or more, this bike actually has decent enough pulling power even at higher double digit speeds and even triple digit speeds for overtaking.
      7. Fuel economy: SOLID. Got upwards of 45kmpl even after riding in triple digit speeds for lengthy periods of time.

Any more questions, let me know. Cheers!

          Hi There.

Dont worry dude your bike is completely normal according to my experience on Gixxer SF for the past 9 months. Now coming for the answer's to your questions.
          1. Exactly after you cross 64kms/hr speed you will feel some rattling stress on the engine. This is exactly fine. because according to my research this is the place were you will start feeling the real power of the bike. (crossing the fuel economy speed limit).

          2. Whenever you start your bike after hours of engine idle period. The first 2-3 kms you will feel that the engine will not perform as efficiently as you expect, and this is because you need to give time for the engine to warm up and the oil inside it to circulate fully inside the engine. So maintain the rpm below 4k for the initial 2-3 kms. then you can rev up as you wish.

Then cuming to the constant speed for cruising. From my personal experience on a trip from my native Tirunelveli to Chennai which is around 660kms, I have maintained constant speeds of 90km above for about 3 hrs. I did not face any issues with the bike. its completely normal.

So the bike is capable of cruising at constant high speeds.

Hope this relaxes your mind. 😉

Now i can sleep at peace
Would have read the whole internal combustion engine book of automobile engineering by now if i was free

Was skeptical as i thought it happens to me only as i haven't did a long ride before

I Totally agree with your cruising experience on the SF bro.. Trip from Pune to bangalore is absolutely awesome. Keep up your Biking enthusiasm.

No back pain, wrist pain or shoulder pain. but definitely the buttock pain after 400kms of driving but I have found a solution for that.

                1. First of all cusion up the bikes seat, The Gixxers seat is really nice but it very less cushioned especially for the pillion. So I did some seat cusion and a new seat cover. Pictures below 👇.
                2. I take a half hour break after every 200kms. This helps me to relax my body and the muscles.

well thats my style for touring Happy touring on the SF dude. 😉 Cheers. 👍.

For the record its naked not nude [emoji12]
No you do not have to remove fairing
The headlight assembly can be operated from beneath the headlight dome
Go to a local mechanic and he will do the job for a few bucks

Hi Gixxer SF rear Disc owners, Kindly let me know how the rear disc performs compared to the drum brakes, is there any issues with the Rear disc Setup, I heard somewhere that the rear disc setup is half cooked in Suzuki gixxer

Dates between 10 June 2016 to 30 June 2016.

Bike is reliable and a great tourer. Gone through INDIA's best and fastest Yamuna express way to deadliest Chang La pass. Done 95 to 110kmph for 2 hours on Yamuna express way. Ridden on Khardungla pass the highest motorable Road in the world. Ridden in extreme heat to extreme cold conditions. Done Leh to Manali in single day. Done Agra to Home around 1000km. My Bike Gixxer SF never let me down .

After these experiences I can confidently say that our bike is very capable and reliable companion for us.

Be safe and enjoy your ride.
