I'm also planning to take my SF to Ladakh.
Are there any precautions or tips you'd give ?
Was ground clearance an issue ?
Do write a blog about your trip. Would love to read that.
Congrats again.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Brother, if a bike goes 6000 kms in 20 days span covering roads of Surchu, Rohtang and Leh n the rider is happily posting his exprnc n snaps, without any so called concerns then you must know that ground clearance is not to worry about at all.Originally posted by Saravanan_n View PostWonderful snaps, Now I'm very much inclined to buy this Bike, but worried about the ground clearance .Can you kindly give your thoughts about the ground clearance in this bike with and without the pillion and the the Off road experience etc.

Research and prepare well before going. No issues with the ground clearance. Even I crossed some of the toughest passes with a pillion on board. I will write the travelogue as soon as I can. Actually I am not a good writer that's why hesitating to write.Originally posted by x86 View PostRespect!I'm also planning to take my SF to Ladakh. I was also worried about ground clearance but no problems with it. Leh is 80% off roading so our sf handles it well. But I must say that it depends on the rider to tackle good and worst Roads skillfully.Originally posted by Saravanan_n View PostWonderful snaps, Now I'm very much inclined to buy this Bike, but worried about the ground clearance .Can you kindly give your thoughts about the ground clearance in this bike with and without the pillion and the the Off road experience etc.+1Originally posted by sumisunny View PostBrother, if a bike goes 6000 kms in 20 days span covering roads of Surchu, Rohtang and Leh n the rider is happily posting his exprnc n snaps, without any so called concerns then you must know that ground clearance is not to worry about at all.Go for it bro. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Need your help with this one guys...
A couple of days ago, rats chewed through some of the wiring that sits above the engine of my SF. Upon close inspection, I found that a rubber pipe that connects to the engine was also in shreds. I got the wiring fixed at the service center but they didn't have a spare rubber pipe to replace the damaged one. I have removed the damaged little chunk of the pipe which was left but I have highlighted the nub where it was connected to the engine in the following pic..
Anybody know what that pipe is used for? Its towards the left side of the bike and the original pipe went from here to somewhere above the rear-wheel.
The mechanic assured me that it was a water drain pipe from the air filter and wouldn't impact the performance of my bike in any way. However, I am beginning to notice that my bike is heating up more than ever and I could feel the heat rising through the front fairing. Even my friends feel the heat on their legs while riding pillion. Now it may be my imagination, but I even get a faint burning smell after riding for longer periods. I took it to SVC again today and the mechanics said that it is all okay and normal behavior. I'm just concerned that it shouldn't be something that might affect my SF in the long run.
P.S. The following image is a scan from my Gixxer SF manual which shows the actual location of the air-filter drain plug: near the mono-shock.
Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
It should not cause any overheating problems. Since, SF is a air-cooled engine, it is normal for some of the heat dissipation to be felt in your/pillon's legs. I think its the crankcase breather tube that connects the "air" portion of the crankcase to the air filter box. Renew the tube ASAP as dust, mud and all types of dirt can enter.Originally posted by aquibmastan View PostNeed your help with this one guys...
