      Hi,
I own a Gixxer SF MotoGP rear disc edition and can say that I am not at all happy with the performance of the rear disc brake. It feels as if only 20% braking power is effective on the rear disc brake.

Your answer is bang on bro, thanks so much. I took my SF to a different svc today and he confirmed that the broken rubber pipe was indeed the "breather hose". They said that the pipe helps in engine ventilation and maybe it was the reason for the engine running hotter than usual. Anyways, got it replaced. Me and my SF feeling better now [emoji4].

For people keeping their bikes under covers during rains, consider keeping some naphthalene balls (dambar goli)/tobacco near the rubber tubings and wiring above the engine to keep the rats away. It seems that the open area in the fairing is a perfect spot for the little bastards to make their nests.

You don't have to worry now. Anyway, the ventilation he talked about is this - all the blow-by gases from the combustion and volatile substances in the crankcase cannot be let into the environment, so they are re-routed into the combustion chamber and eventually via the " silencer" exit the system. This is my basic understanding.

Even the Kinetic Honda had a rubber tube that connected the CVT case to the air filter box. It is not uncommon for bikes to leak a few drops of oil after a fall. It leaks through this mechanism. That's why some owner manuals asks the biker to check oil level after a fall/tip over.

Engine cooling is primarily handled by the lubricating oil and cooling fins on the cylinder.

It is a known fact among pet rat owners that they like to go inside "holes". Its their basic instinct I guess. Also the rat chewed the wire - may be to scrap off their ever growing teeth.

Since SF owners are found of stickers, stick a picture of Garfield. That should keep the rodents away ;-).

Thanks for the reply Bro, Even I met a person in my locality with a gixxer rear disk, I asked him how it performs and he said it is not up to the mark and says his friends Drum brake is far better.
..Seems rear disk is a flop in gixxer, need more inputs from other long term users after first service.By the way did you ask service center to do a Disc brake bleeding and remove any air bubbles etc or any sort of fix.

buyers beware -test ride the Disc Variant before buying, unfortunately in chennai they do not give test ride for the Disc variant,I asked three Suzuki showrooms till now but none of them obliged to do so.

Yes I asked SVC regarding this on my first service and the reply I got was that the braking system of Gixxer SF is designed as to use 70% braking power from front disc brake and remaining 30% from the rear disc brake. However, in India people use rear brake in a greater proportion as to the front brake to avoid skidding which might be the reason we are feeling that the braking power is less at rear end. The SVC guys said that they can't do anything in the disc brake system and that it is perfect.

You have to give some time for the bike to break in or Run-in, and after that you can notice the ride getting smoother and smoother day by day , wait for some more days, follow the run-in rules and Then if you are still unsatisfied Sell it, You can feel the bike transform post the run-in period.

                        Thanks

Service center guys are mindless people we have to ask them to test drive an R15 or hornet to understand how the rear disc works, I booked a gixxer Sf with rear disc and cancelled it for the same reason after getting comments from some gixxer rear disc owners, but some of them commented to be quite enough and I'm wondering if is an issue with a particular batch .. I'm still waiting to take a test drive as one of the Showroom has promised to offer a test drive next week with the rear disc variant have to try it first ,if it is not satisfactory I will buy the drum version or the Hornet (best rear disc in 150 segment).

Write a polite mail to customer care of Suzuki through their website. Let their executive/regional engineer have a look. Vibration has many causes ranging from loose chain, improperly tightened fasteners to loose crash guard to minor engine trouble.

Guys if u buy gixxer sf better buy from Delhi or Mumbai or some some other major city .Never buy from dehradun or some small places like this. If u get a defective piece ur at big loss. Better go for some other bike . does anyone know wats the top speed of this sf. Mine is only giving 112 km/hr

1.you have just bought the bike and rather than running in you are pushing the bike to 112
                              Good luck with that
2.go to the suzuki india official site and on contact us write your concern they WILL get back to you
3.do not defame what we know to be a heck of a bike
Xbhp can give you give you suggestion and guide you but after watching you are too keen of drawing conclusions it will be futile to argue with you in vain
                              Good luck

It is a new bike and it is not tuned for such high speeds because you need to run-in your engine first or you'll be with a damaged bike forever.

Follow the manual and complete the initial run-in period by staying under the specified rpm limitations and complete your first service. THEN observe the speed and if it still doesn't satisfy you, take it to any svc and have them look at it again. My guess is you'll be okay after the first service.

Dual disc is just a feature; all Gixxers have the same engine so performance isn't different whether you have the original version or the rear-disc one.
