It is the crankcase breather pipe and since the gixxer isn't liquid cooled, the other pipe could be the petrol overfill drain pipe.

The FZ hugger on gixxer look cool. I'm interested in R15 2.0 hugger, does it fits on the gixxer?

              • FS Oil change & Fuel tank cap

Hi! I am having my 4th servicing during next week, and I am thinking whether or not to change oil and oil filter. I had changed to FS oil, I think Motul 7100 10W40 don't remember exactly during first servicing. Kms were around 500 at that time, and now also it's only around 2500 after 10 months. I haven't changed oil during 2nd and 3rd servicing, and also didn't change oil filter as without changing oil they said its not recommended to change oil filter as it will take away oil in use along with it.

So should I change oil now considering its 10 months old even though do not have that much Kms running.. or should I consider changing in 5th servicing later around November when it will be around 1 year. Please advise based on your expertise.

Also, while filling up petrol today I observed that beneath the tank cap...area surrounding mouth of the tank was soggy and showing signs of rust. Rain water might have been going in there and area starting to rust which can eventually cause to replace full fuel tank which happened with one of my friend (not Gixxer SF) costing him more than 5k. So any advise on this as well..? should go for tank cap cover during rainy season..?

First of all, if you do not follow the manufacturer's prescribed service intervals, your warranty will be void. And I think your warranty is void as you have not gone for 2nd and 3rd service. Oil filter change is a must in the initial few services as the engine is going through the run-in process and lots of metal shavings are stuck on to the Oil filter which in turn reduces its efficiency. My recommendation, is to change the oil and oil filter in the 4th service.

A bit of rust is ok in rainy season and if you ride in extreme heavy rainfall, rainwater is going to seep in anyhow. And that Tank cap cover is of no use(personal experience)

He has completed 2nd and 3rd service.

I think you should change the oil and the filter in the 4th service itself. Ideally you should be changing oil every 2000km (mineral) or every 6 months if the bike hasn't been run much.

                        Hello.. Thanks for your replies.

I haven't changed oil and oil filter, but have done the 2nd and 3rd servicing as per schedule. Oil change not required was agreed with SVC due to low Kms and FS oil change in first service. As I understood earlier, normal oil change is requreid every 5k Kms and FS oil change every 10k Kms. But now due to 8 months I am confused should I change or not during this servicing.

Your are still in run in period, follow it. There will be initial smell like oil burning, this is quiet normal. There is no tuning required at this time, it will heat up since the engine is not setin...just enjoy the ride and follow the manual for first service.
No no I would not go above the rpm limit for the break in period. What i am concerned is will the bike go comfortably to high rpms in the first gear after breaking period as it is struggling now. Plus my bike idles at 1k-1.25k. is it normal?? Plus any recommendations for engine oil at first service. The service guy told they have "suzuki oil" available with them and i not sure what he means by that.

Read the manual. Idle rpm should be set at 1600+/-100. No recommendations for engine oil at fist service. Continue with Mineral oil till next service. They will probably be using Idemitsu engine oil. Make sure they are using Mineral Oil and not Synthetic.

What do you mean by struggling?

By struggling i mean when i reach 5k rpm on first gear it feels like the bike is running out of juice and have up shift. no other gear this problem exists as i've tried going up to 8k rpm on all other gears for a very short interval(5-10secs at max). Once i get my first service done and break in is over will try again. Is the idemitsu oil good? i read on the forum people suggesting you use motul oil. But forgot which excat specification of motul it was..

                                5-10seconds is not short.

As for the oil, any Mineral engine oil is decent. You can switch to Motul or Shell full synthetic at 2nd service.

Also once again, read the manual. 4.5k RPM max for first 800kms (irrespective of which service it is) For the next 800kms till 1600 its 7k RPM max. So you can see the kind of mistake you are making, you havent completed 800kms and you are exceeding the RPM which is prescribed for 800-1600kms
